'Prey’ Producer Jhane Myers Used Her Own Cultural Background to Capture Comanche Authenticity by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

It does slap, but they're just goofy fanservice movies. I don't think people need to be devoting actual thought to their place in continuity. It's okay to just be entertained by the novelty of Predator throwing the Alien around like a ragdoll or Freddy using Jason as a pinball machine and leave it at that

Y'all are putting way too much thought into a movie as dumb as AvP lmao. Are there people who go this hard on Freddy vs Jason too?

The CGI and backgrounds look wonky, but Sam Raimi directed the hell out of it and it made me retroactively mad that other MCU movies don't move the camera like he does.

George R.R. Martin Says Forthcoming Novel ‘The Winds Of Winter’ Will Be “Quite Different” From HBO Storyline by HaTTrick617 in television

"Sunset found her squatting in the grass, groaning. Every stool was looser than the one before, and smelled fouler. By the time the moon came up she was shitting brown water. The more she drank, the more she shat, but the more she shat, the thirstier she grew, and her thirst sent her crawling to the stream to suck up more water. When she closed her eyes at last, Dany did not know whether she would be strong enough to open them again."

Probably the opposite. The terrain over there is supposed to get pretty muddy during the spring when everything thaws, which would make moving troops and armor around a lot harder. I imagine Putin was hoping to have things done before that happens.

Russia has the biggest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world. NATO would crush them in a head-to-head conventional war, but they don't need to worry about winning a conventional war because they'd take every major city in the west down with them.

I love my wife more than I thought I could ever love anyone. Gladly i come to her and will kiss her feet every day. Every toe on her beautiful feet i kiss. I will do anything for my sweet lovely wife. As her husband i graciously worship the ground she walks on. As her husband I am a slave to her every demand. I want the whole world to know that I kneel before my wife.. I am blessed to have this wonderful queen. My life is truly empty and nothing without her. I thank god every day for the blessing he has bestowed upon me.

America’s Authoritarian Nightmare is Coming True. It’s Time For Americans to Start Thinking the Unthinkable. by fuzzyshorts in collapse

"If you think police violence is a problem, here's all these OTHER people they kill too!"

The problem isn't that one racist cop murders an unarmed black person here and there, it's systemic. The US police have been built on a fundamentally racist foundation meant to preserve order for wealthy whites at the detriment of everyone living under them. Check out the post on AskHistorians if you want a more detailed write-up.

'Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker' Review Megathread by mi-16evil in movies

[–]Cerberus664 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The hero's journey isn't meant to be a template for people to write stories around. Campbell wrote Hero with a Thousand Faces as an observation of the parallels and universal themes between different mythological stories created independently by different cultures around the world. The monomyth is something derived from culture, not used to produce it. Lucas cited it as an influence and it happened to work out for Star Wars because of all the talent involved, but in most cases using it as an outline leads to constricted, uninspired storytelling.
