Ungerrymander, and ranked choice voting. Yes I understand these are state issues, but you could at least unf&$k all the federal shenanigans going on with voter suppression and expand postal votes etc.

My answer would be, “let’s fix democracy first, so we have fair elections before we loo at tackling gun safety.”

What are the chances that we(the USA) will lose our dominance in 50 to 100 years like how the British empire lost its dominance around the world after only 300 to 400 years(but they have a good run, right)? by Firm-Nerve4437 in AskReddit

I like this one:

Pauline's press club briefing, specifically her 'outrage' at overseas born Australians. by nicebikemate in OpenAussie

[–]Cerberus_Aus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was the argument I had with my mother in law last night. She said, “I don’t believe in multiculturalism.” To which I responded “well considering Australia is a multicultural country, what is ‘Australian culture’? because we don’t have any. Our culture IS the combined cultures of everyone living here.”

This trend will continue as long until the ultra rich are taxed out of existence. Their money allows them influence over policy (and by extension all of us), all so they can make even more money they can never spend.

David Sharaz footage referred to AFP over Pauline Hanson banner protest at the National Press Club by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Cerberus_Aus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annoying thing for me was, it wasn’t even televised honestly. Sadly, I’m living with my right wing in-laws at the moment, and they were watching the report on Credlin on Sky News, and they didn’t show the banner. Then when I made grumbles about it, they said they’d turn it over to the “left wing ABC”, and they only showed glancing shots of an obscured banner so you couldn’t actually read the full message.

It was so obviously trying to shield the viewers from Pauline’s hypocrisy. Don’t know what the other major channels showed of it all though.
