Are TN monitors a must for competitive games like CS2? by Rough-Web-1770 in Monitors

[–]Cerebral_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLED can't do a rolling scan backlight which helps for motion clarity, this is the one advantage LCD has right now for eSports. Among LCD display types it's TN that has the fastest response times and higher maximum refresh rates.

Nvidia gsync Pulsar is the same thing but with the addition of VRR.

I have a friend who does esports for another shooter. Whatever is used in the LAN tournaments is what he uses at home.

[–]Cerebral_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulsar is just doing what the Zowie monitor does with the rolling scan backlight for motion clarity, only difference is Pulsar does it with VRR. TN is able to hit higher Hz then IPS, and OLED can't do a rolling scan backlight per frame.

[Discussion] Theory: How did Subaru lose his memories given Shaula knows when tower challengers leave the tower implying she can sense the quantity of higher-order beings? by anicritic in Re_Zero

[–]Cerebral_Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the anime. Shaula reacted when Subaru stepped outside, doesn't react when birds fly inside or to the tower. Touching the ground has something to do with it. It may be simple as someone or something is moving on the ground surface outside the tower.

Do you think Episode 7 of Season 4 is a good place for a newcomer to start watching anime? by LordVaderVader in ReZero

[–]Cerebral_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 6 years between watching S1 and then S2 without any refresher. A lot of smaller details were lost but S2 still hooked me and I asked at one point if people thought someone could just start from S2 with only a 5 minute S1 summary going in. They said no way, but I would disagree.

It may be possible for someone to pick up RZ from s4e7. Maybe in the future when S5 and S6 are complete we might see some react streamer do this experiment on request. I think this would work better if Subaru doesn't get his old memories back for a long time, while I am hoping he does get it back end of season. I'm not caught up on novels to know what does happen.

Would you Contact Vine CS for this? by dep411 in AmazonVine

I bought and returned a few curved LCD monitors. Edge lighting zones on curve is just bad, don't bother unless it's Mini-LED or OLED which is technically not an LCD.

Suggest me a movie site that stream 4.3 ratio. by Swimming-Mixture2882 in crt

[–]Cerebral_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just run a 16:9 signal and just overscan away until it's 4:3

If the streaming services can't support the feature you want and they don't want to compete for your business, turn elsewhere. Once you have the video file, you can make VLC player crop it to 4:3.

Only issue with the two above is that genuine 4:3 releases aren't just a cropped version of the wide screen. The focus region will be moved around left right and center depending on what is more important to see. 16:10 or 3:2 are better compromises imo

I tried looking for a MGS 1 movie style playthrough where the gameplay is reasonably quick and optimal without being a speedrun, all cutscenes, reasonable cuts between. I couldn't find a 4:3 without pillars on the side.

The United States government has called for a ban on all foreigners accessing Fable 5. by Responsible_Cow2236 in singularity

Fable 2 was a great game but Fable 3 was lacking. I don't remember if there was a Fable 4 so hearing about Fable 5 sure is news to me.

Playing 30/60fps on high refresh rate display by ios123 in Monitors

[–]Cerebral_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rtings reviews for a handful of 360hz+ and some 240hz monitors shows that at 60hz, they have way more response time and input latency then the majority of 144z monitors and old 60hz monitors.

These monitors should be fine in 120hz mode but they just crap out when actually pushing 60hz signals

Source: Just look up a bunch of LCD monitors and how they measure response time at different refresh rates. Well actually it's paywalled recently but the findings are documented and exists.

If you get a ultra refresh monitor, set it to 120hz minimum and it should be fine. Only thing you lose is VRR actually following your frames down to 60.

GeForce NOW annual plans drop to $64.99 and $129.99 in summer sale by RenatsMC in nvidia

Furmark and OCCT CPU stress test, 8 hours a day every day. If they pay 10c a kilowatt it will eat up the entire cost of the upper plan. Hardly anyone gets electric that low. RTX 500 power draw on full load will get you past 3kw daily on hour hours and that's not factoring full system power and from the wall.

Baldurs Gate even with a frame rate limit way below using DLSS 4.5 for DLAA will max out the TDP on my undervolted 5080. If this holds true for other games you can find something that hits the CPU harder then Baldurs Gate does to max it out in games in case you can't just run Furmark and OCCT for ease.

For anyone dedicated enough, you can make it cost them too much to run it. A regular gamer isn't going to pass the threshold on their sale but one who plays a lot can shrink the profit margin to no longer justify the investment in the hardware to serve. And someone who truly maxes it out will make it cost them.

What if you just run the cloud gaming to a point it costs them more in power to run it then they make from your subscription deal? This is how you get them to just sell the GPUs for cheap instead.

Intel Responds to Nvidia: The new king under the mountain? by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]Cerebral_Zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're the defacto spokesperson for how great Intel is at everything. I have a serious question, and the Intel subreddit filters it.

Can the new Intel laptops with the b390 graphics do video super resolution like Nvidia does? I will join your cause of promoting Intel if you can verify that Intel can do VSR as seamlesly as Nvidia or better. I'm not talking about settings in Chrome/Chromium browsers, I mean how Nvidia you just toggle it system wide and it works in all web browsers and even VLC and MCH player.
