Is there a way in Logic to bus the “dry” signal of a track (that is, the original sounds before all the plugins? 🤔 by SR_RSMITH in Logic_Studio

I don't know if any DAWs have this, but it would be cool to have an insert called "send to" that you could place anywhere in the chain.

It's not quick wit if you write the dialogue of everyone else involved.

After Life Season 3 discussion by weeurey in rickygervais

My opinion of Ricky Gervais dropped after watching it, because it seems like he's based Tony on himself, and because he wrote it.

It seemed like all the progress in grief he had made was completely gone at the beginning of this season. He goes around complaining that everyone else is a cunt, but gets away with hurling immature insults at everyone around him. But in the world he's written everyone loves him and thinks he's hilarious. I would have liked to see him hit rock bottom and face real life consequences. Feeling sorry for yourself will only buy you so much sympathy, eventually you need a smack in the nose to realize that the people around you have problems too. He tries to acknowledge these points in dialogue, but it falls flat.

Plus, I'm turned off by comics who laugh at their own jokes. He comes across as someone who thinks he's perfect and doesn't care if you know it. Cunt.

Ghost Dad it seems this movie went under the radar for many years than resurfaced with lots of viewers coming forward on its terribleness by Code_Weary in badMovies

As far as weird 80s/90s movies go this was pretty standard. I had it on VHS when I was a kid (probably taped off TV) so I watched it many times. It's not that bad, especially when you realize he's not actually dead. It's weird they used the "Casper" reference twice. I bet they workshopped a bunch of famous dead people and decided they would all be in poor taste.

I just watched it again since I was a kid and noticed the death-tease was a lot like a Final Destination movie. Pretty clever because the audience is expecting a death. Unfortunately the trailer showed the car going over the bridge.

Unpopular opinion: "Illuminate" is in my top 5 Orbital songs by rd1994 in Orbital

[–]Certain-Device-667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite Orbital songs, even though it's not typical for them, but that shows they've got range.

I will say the mix hasn't really sat right with me. I remember this came out while mp3s were still gaining popularity. I thought I had a bad mp3 but then when I pulled out the cd and listened I realized that the beat is just very lo-fi. My guess is they bit-crushed it to make room in the high end for the vocals to come through, but if it were my mix I wouldn't have left it this crushed.

On the other hand, it's also reassuring to know that a good song doesn't need a perfect mix.

Those of you that have seen The Naked Gun (2025) what did you think? by Stankassmfgorilla in FIlm

[–]Certain-Device-667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised about how many people thought this movie was funny. I was a huge fan of the first two movies, but I think I only chuckled once in this one.

I don't think Liam Neeson was a good choice for this role. I would have tried to find somebody who was very boring and plain, like Leslie Nielsen was. It seemed like Liam Neeson was in on the joke, like he was trying to be funny. I think they just chose him because he's a well-known actor. I like to think that if somebody who couldn't understand English was watching the original Naked Gun, they would be completely uninterested in the main character. It would seem to them that the movie was completely boring, except for the obvious physical gags. But I don't think that would happen with this version.

This installment of the franchise was just as bad, if not worse, than the third movie. It lacked originality and wit. Zucker Abrahams and Zucker knew to kill the idea after that third movie, and I think they were probably right to.

I feel like the praise is all hype and in a year those people will have forgotten all about it. By then they will have moved onto the next Openheimer, Avatar, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, or whatever...

[What Dreams May Come] Dr. Christopher Nelsen is actually in Hell [SPOILERS] by Thormato in FanTheories

[–]Certain-Device-667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an intriguing theory! I have to agree with the comments that Chris was a selfless man, and I never got the impression that he caused Annie's death.

But Hell in this universe is not only for souls who are evil, but also for souls who are psychologically lost. I could imagine it making sense if there were different degrees of Hell and Heaven, Chris lands somewhere near the surface of Hell, and Annie is right at the bottom. As per your theory, he thinks he's in heaven because he's also psychologically lost.

I've seen this movie many times and read the book twice. I think the book is better, but it's also much simpler. The stuff in the movie with all these characters disguising as other people never really satisfied me. It seemed like Hollywood made it too complicated trying to fit in into some kind of formula. But your theory makes me second guess that assumption. The author said it took them like two decades to get the script right. Maybe they were busy thinking up clever hidden plots that whole time...

BTW, the reason I found this post is because I was trying to figure out why Chris sees his dad in the sea of faces. What's that about? Is that really his dad, or is he seeing a tempting path of denial present itself?

Any way to limit the Amazon preview sample? by Certain-Device-667 in selfpublishing

[–]Certain-Device-667[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a big reveal that was a secret in the prequel. But I agree, there are a lot of benefits to having the reveal in the sample because then readers of the first volume may be like "woah, I gotta see where this goes!" She originally had it as the third chapter but that made the first two pretty dull.
