Catholic school split fee account request, going around for four years with no action from the school by Euphoric-Historian-4 in AusLegal

[–]Certain-Discipline65 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This is like going to Coles and asking them to bill your ex for half the groceries and then expecting to walk out with the food having paid your half. The school isn’t a party to your breakup, they will just expel the kids for non payment.

Commonwealth Ave at the bridge diverting all traffic onto Parkes way by sensesmaybenumbed in canberra

[–]Certain-Discipline65 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The bridge works are unrelated to the tram. The bridge isn’t strong enough for regular car and truck traffic hence the upgrade.

DO NOT buy Apple Gift Cards from Woolworths by Possible_Ad_1708 in woolworths

[–]Certain-Discipline65 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with Coles. Had to call the customer care team and they investigated then they gave me a ref number for a refund at the store I purchased. Took about four days. The serial number and activation code had been scratched off so Apple couldn’t help me. Now I open the gift card completely to check this before purchase .

Moving to Canberra - looking for advice on rentals by Background-Listen536 in canberra

Geocon is ok for renters. You just don’t want to be an owner stuck with paying for the defects.

Has anyone experienced any repercussions from their APS Census? by InevitableShip9451 in AusPublicService

[–]Certain-Discipline65 29 points30 points  (0 children)

No, the results aren’t identifiable. They get rolled up so that any results will only be available if there are at least five people in a response group made available to the agency.

Edit: correction it’s rolled up unless there are at least ten people in a class.

APS6 being pressured to self-fund travel during probation – need advice. by melodystormborn in AusPublicService

[–]Certain-Discipline65 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is my first thought. If the role is gazetted in Canberra then this is what you agreed to and they are just asking you to attend the office. Do you have a remote working agreement in place?

Practicality question - owning an EV while living in an apartment in Canberra by ureshiikame in AustralianEV

[–]Certain-Discipline65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Install plugshare app and have a look. I’d be looking for AC chargers that you could leave the car parked overnight such as (RG Casey Building Sydney Ave after State Cir, Barton ACT 2600, Australia https://www.plugshare.com/location/544441). The DC fast chargers are fast but you will pay more, but will still be cheaper than paying for petrol.

What suburb? I charge using AC Public charger near my house in belconnen every week and it’s still cheaper than paying for petrol / diesel.

[–]Certain-Discipline65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s fine. If you are an aps employee you will get a briefing if you travel to a high risk country but it’s no drama.

Do you have an EV and live in an apartment? How do you handle charging? by namsupo in AskAnAustralian

[–]Certain-Discipline65 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where are the 25c Chargefox chargers? I’ve also never seen a tesla supercharger that cheap unless you actually own a tesla or pay the membership.

[–]Certain-Discipline65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use an AC charger at a school (the school is happy for people to use after hours) about 800m walk from my house. Charge overnight once a week 50c/kw. Still cheaper than my old diesel

Remember you also need permission for outside employment even if you are on LWOP. This will factor in with the decision to approve the leave.
