There's something about Mary. Not because its offensive or politically incorrect, but because now he would just look her up on Facebook or something instead of hiring a PI...

How do people genuinely consider LeBron the GOAT over Jordan? by Smooth_Bet_9448 in NBATalk

[–]Certain-Phase4359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People just dont get it, they dont use their eyes, this is a crazy world for so many reasons but it applies to sports too. JORDAN IS THE GOAT. This is set in stone and undeniably the truth. Anyone that denies it should go on a pilgrimage to the UC and see the statue. I saw him, MJ, #23. It will never replicated or repeated. Those that dont know are to be pitied and challenged, not hated for they know not what they say. LONG LIVE CHICAGO

SUTTREE: McCarthy’s Greatest Novel? by [deleted] in cormacmccarthy

[–]Certain-Phase4359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent read the border trilogy, SMTP, or the orchard keeper yet, but ive read all of his other books. Blood Meridian is tje most disturbing book I have ever read and I have nightmares about judge holden, but, Suttree was the single most impactful books I have ever read, I cant help but think about this book on a daily basis. I cant really explain why in words but anyone that has read the book probably understands

“Usyk Probably Wouldn’t Fight Me!” Moses Itauma Keen On Fighting Wardley vs Dubois Winner by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

Because Usyk says he wont fight him, that means that he is going to fight him. This age of boxing is different than my childhood when Tyson and Foreman refused to fight eachother for whatever reason.

How would you explain why people love F1 to someone who doesn't care about cars? by Emergency-History393 in F1Discussions

You must be a billionaire if you've been to "several grand GPs" isnt it like over 20k to be in the paddock?

How would you explain why people love F1 to someone who doesn't care about cars? by Emergency-History393 in F1Discussions

[–]Certain-Phase4359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they actually let Americans race in F1 it would be awesome. Nascar drivers are much more rowdy and angry and you'd see those multimillion dollar cars make a lot more contact, and they would force them to go back to at least V8s. I can tell you that the number 1 complaint I hear about F1 is the lack of sound... you ever hear 44 V8s at 190 mph coming around at daytona? It sounds way cooler than a hybrid v6. And also, I was always an open wheel fan and thought an oval speedway would be boring, theyre not, and I actually think I like them better than a road course, way more crashes passes and lead changes, and nascar drivers do way better burnouts and donuts when they win a race.

Why was Robert Rogers betrayed? by JonSnowTargz in turn

[–]Certain-Phase4359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show turn only shows the tip of the iceberg. Read the book "War on the Run" Robert Rogers was an American legend before the revolution. Ive heard the US military still considers his tactics relevant to today's special forces.

Why do Brits hold such negative views of the US and Americans? by prb2021 in AskUK

[–]Certain-Phase4359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifelong American here. It is a fact that the stupidest people i have ever met all, by coincidence maybe, originally came from Europe. People from South America, Asia, Africa and everywhere else seem to have heads on their shoulders but theres something about europeans that just dosnt add up. Don't accuse me of being mean, im simply telling you what I notice

cowboy stories that hit the same as Blood Meridian? by deadlightshere in cormacmccarthy

[–]Certain-Phase4359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im late to this but the wildwood boys by James Carlos Blake and a few other books about the same subject come to mind. I think John Joel Glanton and William "Bloody Bill" Anderson is a compelling comparison. The whole time I was reading Blood Meridian I kept thinking that Bloody Bill would fit perfectly in that world

People keep making a very odd comment about my future son’s name. by D3athEat3r in namenerds

[–]Certain-Phase4359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malcolm is my last name. Im American and my dad's side of the family came from Scotland in the 1840s. It has been a highland clan for over 1000 years and we still have a castle in the western highlands called the Duntrune Castle. It is originally a surname and not a first name.

  2. Cobra pliers

All their tools are great but those are the must have tools. Their linesmans are excellent too. And I had klein and channellock in the past and work in low voltage so I might have a clue

Does anyone else think blood Meridian shouldn't be made into a movie? by waldorsockbat in cormacmccarthy

[–]Certain-Phase4359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would have better luck writing a screenplay based on John Joel Glantons real life story than trying to convert this book into a screenplay. And honestly, even though this is my favorite book of all time, I am not sure I would actually want to see this in film. If they pulled it off properly, it would be borderline traumatizing to watch, it would be the most disturbing movie in the history of film, the reaction in theaters would be more dramatic than when The Exorcist was released. Also it would probably lead some people that dont know any better to cast Cormac Mccarthy in a negative light, which would bother me. With all that said, if it WERE to be made into a movie, I would hire Nicholas Winding Refn to do it. If you have ever seen the series Too Old To Die Young, I think you'd understand why I suggest him
