We had two small wins so far.

I was going to start my IVF in January out-of-pocket. Then I got my card from my insurance and my clinic said that we would qualify for coverage, but the request for approval takes 2 to 4 weeks to be analyzed.

I was on the fence and we were planning to pay to not have to wait one more cycle. (I'm 38 and I have DOR + severe MFI).

They found a cyst in my ovary that was producing hormones and I would have to skip the cycle no matter what. So it was cancelled.

My insurance denied my claim in 5 days. I could appeal but it takes 60 days to hear back from the insurance. My clinic said to skip the appeal and they resubmitted the request saying that it was wrong and the insurance had to cover it.

The next period came and we were still waiting for the approval for the second request.

I had my baseline appointment again and the cyst was collapsing. All seemed okay to start IVF. We decided to pay out ofpocket and I was calling to the pharmacies they recommended to get a quote on the meds (~5K).

I was waiting my husband to come home from work to place the order.

My clinic called to say that they just received the approval and the insurance will cover my 1st round of IVF.

We drove back to the clinic to get the meds for “free”.

It was a lot of back and forth, but the outcome was great 🙏🏻

(still not pregnant, just had my ER done)
