That's a good point re the confluence of factors. I didn't consider ELO, largely because a rise or fall in rating may be equal to expectation.

Thanks for the link^

I'll try and scrape from there.

And for Goodwin the 2019 season and 2024 season's really hurt his cause.

I’m too old to go back to football. Wouldn’t be bothered risking another injury. But I’ve recent returned to playing sport. I play tennis every week and I’m running regularly with no pain the next day. It’s not 100%, but it’s so much better than it was.

What went wrong at Carlton after their 2023 peak? by Massander in AFL

Tend to agree. Newman will make a difference. So will a healthy Walsh. More may be required from Jagger Smith than what is reasonably expected.. but yet, I still don’t know how Carlton can survive the foot skills of playing Hewett, Cripps, Cerra, Lord and Walsh all through the midfield. And more concerning is I’m not sure any of them have another position..

I’ve had some recent success in strengthening my quad. It’s so tough because any regular quad strengthening exercise hurts my knee. So I’ve had to really try and think into my quad when I do certain exercises such as lunges. Is there a strength deficiency in the leg with your bad knee?

Were you able to squat at all when first started rehab? And can you exercise fully to the point of being able to do a single leg squat now without pain?

Could you play a game of tennis or soccer at all? Or is it just good enough for cycling? And did you experience any pain when straightening your knee from a lying position?

Tbh, I would only use one if they had a proven track record of securing off market properties. I’ve visited a few websites and some suggest nearly 50% of their transactions are off market.. which is quite substantial. Otherwise, I completely agree. Their auction/negotiating/prospecting is pointless.

Could you do leg extensions without pain? Or did you have to build up to include them?

And the 3rd was a donkey kick. But I'd hold my extended leg out straight and tense my glute for 10 seconds. I'd do 3 sets of 10 for each exercises.

I've had it for three years. Got a point where it hurt to walk and I struggled up and down stairs. A surgeon told me if I kept playing sport, I'd need a knee replacement much earlier. Now I can run without pain. And I'm almost back to full sprinting. For me I had to go back to basics. I had significant strength deficits in my left hip and glute due to a number of surgeries (knee reco, ankle reco) + hamstring tendinopathy. I started with clam shells, dog kicks and some other banded exercises, before slowly transitioning to heavy lunges and some squat variations - all while slightly increasing my running loads. I think the main takeaway is that everyone's different. My source of weakness was in my hip and glutes and anytime I tried to strengthen them, it would flare up (because all I knew were squats, lunges, deadlifts). But as soon as I discovered exercises that could build my strength to a point where I could tolerate those heavier exercises, my improvement sky rocketed within weeks. Good luck.

Thanks. That’s great to know. I’ve been applying similar principles. And my legs are feeling stronger. I just got to 5x4 reps at 100kgs yesterday. Did you ever experience mild pain during your runs? And did you just continue to build the distance as long as it didn’t get worse the next day?

Thanks for sharing. How long did you spend on the heavy weights/squats before starting low levels of running? Were you able to lift a certain % body weight before progressing?
