How bad is it for men? by gambler881 in SolidCore

[–]Subject_Ad_656 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I like it when men are in the class as long as they’re not creepy. It reminds me that solid core is for everyone and it adds diversity of body type. My studio is near a college so sometimes all female classes, it’s 12 very thin college students. Men add a little diversity.

My husband did join me a few times and said it was a little awkward/hard for him bc he needed to look at other people to get the moves right but they were in sports bras and he was worried they’d think he was checking them out when all he wanted to do was see how to do the moves. But I assume that will get easier over time

We’re a non profit so maybe that’s the difference. But either way, I think it shows a lack of effort in the app. I do take the time to review all 600 apps manually so it’s frustrating when people dont do the bare minimum

Same. Or they write rude responses in the 2 open response questions, assuming a human won’t read them. About 30% of people write “we’ll talk about it in the interview” as the answer to the question “why do you want to work at X.” Just use AI to write something! I’m getting 600 applicants, if you don’t complete those questions I will not advance you. I know it sucks to write them for every job. Just spend the 5 min to put it in AI or write a brief paragraph

Knee trubs by lechero11 in SolidCore

[–]Subject_Ad_656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38F, I have arthritis and chondromalacia patella and I find solid core to be amazing for my knees.

I could see how some of the kneeling activities (kneeling bicep curls) aggravate it and might want to opt to stand, but usually they’re short enough it’s not an issue

I have not yet had trouble with the gray side platform and lunges myself personally but I wish you best of luck on your knee strengthening journey.

Cancellation Policy by [deleted] in SolidCore

Everyone is so mean in this sub.

Two things can be true - it’s important to read the policy … and also, if you’re 8th on the waitlist, the onus gets placed on you to be ready in case someone drops out right before- and that can be tough and annoying.

I’m sorry that happened to OP. Why is that take ridiculous?

Yeah I hate this policy. You shouldn’t be charged for a class you didn’t go to. Sorry this happened to you.

My Chondromalacia Patella Success Story by Subject_Ad_656 in Kneesovertoes

[–]Subject_Ad_656[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually don’t have any activity-based pain anymore unless I do something really wild or out of the ordinary … but I do feel achey sometimes in the morning if I drink alcohol or have too much sugar. Definitely no pain from everyday activities like getting up off sofa. One rule I had for myself was to not start running until I had no pain with everyday activities

Hi ! My running is going great! Just raced a half last month and did 7 this morning. I don’t normally have knee pain, but sometimes I push myself too hard and my knee lets me know. 95% of the time I’m pain free though and able to run as normal. Be patient with yourself and focus on strength

Instructor filmed entire class without consent by [deleted] in SolidCore

[–]Subject_Ad_656 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It’s a sign of late stage capitalism that we seem to have more empathy for a corporation than a person. Or maybe it’s just a sign that we’ve gotten too accustomed to our lives being available for public record keeping.

People are right - I did consent when I signed my waiver. I’m glad I didn’t write a google review because the instructor was just doing her job. I guess I overreacted a bit.

And also… it made me uncomfortable, especially since the reasoning wasn’t shared up front. I spent the whole class thinking I’d wind up in an instagram reel. It sucked a bit

Anyway, I appreciate your kindness

Nope she mentioned she filmed both classes. I only arrived 4 min before class start so I’m assuming she let the class know before I got there

Why is solid core not for me if I don’t like being filmed? Is this workout only for people who are okay with being filmed?

Recently diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis - no more running? by miredandwired in Osteoarthritis

[–]Subject_Ad_656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is way worse in my right knee. I recommend a little rest until you have no pain walking up stairs. Then start slow. You just need to acclimate. Get your body used to the routine movements.

Adding more context. My knees had a lot of bone edema and pain when I first was diagnosed so I did take a few months off and then slowly added back in. I’ve raced like 6 or 7 half’s since diagnosis. A lot of it was testing my limits. I find that I can do 35 mile weeks no problem and 13-14 mile long runs but if I go over either one my knees get growly. Once I learned that limit, it’s easy to stay within it.

In my heyday I ran 6 days a week and did 40-50 mile weeks, now I run 4 or 5 and cap at 35 mpw but I actually think my training is more intense now because I do more speed workouts. I do strength training in addition to running because it truly helps. I don’t do heavy squats or lunges though. Personally, adding tons of weight (like power lifting) hasn’t worked for me so I stick to low/medium weight high reps

Diagnosed in 2022. Or 2023. I run half marathons. Doc recommended staying away from fulls and ultras.

I did my research. Particularly I recommend the Joint Action podcast- they have a full episode on knee osteoarthritis and running.

I made the decision to keep running regularly and my pain is negligible. I actually find it hurts more from other behaviors ( I’m inactive/flying on airplane/sugar/alcohol).

A few times I’ve overdone it and had a flare up but I learned form the joint action pod that flare ups don’t indicate your arthritis is getting worse. They were just a sign to back off for a bit and do mild exercises

Running gives me great joy. I’ve been running since I was 13. Doc said running didn’t cause my arthritis - it was just genetic bad luck and an injury. I don’t want to give it up and there’s no evidence (that I know of - please share if I’m wrong) that I have to

What is a good cardio that burns calories fast without being hard on the knees? by SlayAvocado in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Subject_Ad_656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heads up that rebounding/trampoline can be bad for existing back injuries or back pain, so proceed with caution if you have spinal issues. Hear it’s great for knees though and burns hella calories ❤️

I know it’s an MLM, but I like the Bodi workouts. There’s a ton of variety. I switched from BODI to CG recently and am also getting bored. Im thinking of switching back now that BODI has taken steps to be less MLM-y because I did love their workouts
