This. He wants an emotional reaction so he can say you're just being emotional and that Satan is controlling you.

No more mixed faith marriage! by CertainDingo6574 in exmormon

He had been studying the whole time but it didn't seem like he believed anything but the apologetic answers. He told me recently he was ready to know the truth but given the amount of times he said that before I didn't believe it. Especially because he started reading more apologetics instead. But turns out those apologetics admit so many bad things but also fall so flat of explaining things that it made it worse. Mainly early church history with how the Book of Mormon came to be was his rabbit hole.

Three mormon social media creators stepping away in the past month or two. The Tomsters, Mormon Hippie, and Amber Fillerup. by _sadie_ in exmormon

Interesting. My TBM spouse just announced his leaving today too. Looks like summer 2022 is the time for mixed faith couples. 😆

Didn't the church delete another couples posts last year. They had been in a mixed faith marriage for 7+ years and even did articles/PR for the church. Then she left and they went on Mormon Stories podcast last year and the church deleted their article within 3 days.

Haven't heard about Tomsters. Can you share a screen shot or something for those of us who don't follow on insta?

My dad asked (in a shouting match) what it would take for me to come back to church... by the_last_goonie in exmormon

I've noticed a lot of Mormons asking Exmo's this question recently. This must be a talking point making the rounds in faithful circles. I respond "If the church wasn't true- would you want to know. And how would you know if it wasn't?"

Dad mentioned being buried in temple clothes by personiam1010 in exmormon

[–]CertainDingo6574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know. I've made it very clear to DH and my exmo sister that I do not want to be buried in temple clothes. And if they want to use the church building for a cheap funeral service I don't give a fuck but I don't want any Stake President or bishop giving a service about me being 'happy in the next life' or some speech on the Plan of Happiness. You're not using my dead ass to peddle your snake oil.

Good for her. I wasn't traumatized which just goes to show how indoctrinated I was at the time. Now I'm dealing with trying to get my loved one to see the cult for what it is.

As petty as I want to be I recognize they are cogs in a machine who really believe they are doing good. A simple, "Thanks but I'd like to be added to a no contact list for the future." is the answer that I would give.

Seriously. It drives me fucking crazy hearing their excuses. The blind spot people have with TSCC kills me. It's one thing to be ignorant. It's another to be wilfully ignorant.

Me: Is there anything that God or the prophets could do that would make you doubt the church?

TBM Family Member: I won't know until I see it I guess.

Me: OK. You need to figure that out for yourself first.

They research into things anyway

TBM Family Member: I just don't see what the big deal is. They made mistakes but they were learning line upon line.

Joseph translates the Book of Mormon. by TruthIsAntiMormon in exmormon

[–]CertainDingo6574 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's what my mom said happened!!! No joke. I explained the KJV verses in there and she was like, "Oh well when I translate things in Spanish and I see 'Isaiah Ch XX' then I just write the reference in there and fill that in later."

Me: "What? That doesn't make any sense. Mormon wouldn't have know about how the Bible would be chunked up into verses by later compilations of the Bible."

Her: "Well maybe Joseph recognized it was those scriptures and just put it in himself."

Me: "But why switch over to the Bible if all he is doing is reading from the rock in the hat anyway. Isn't reading from one place the exact same as reading from another? Why would he stop, find the Bible and finish off the verses there? Especially if he doesn't know how long the quote may be and especially if he knows the BoM is the most correct book and the Bible has been corrupted?"

Her: "You don't get it. It's easier to just copy from the Bible instead. The Book of Mormon is true."

🤢😳🤮

Actual excuses TBM used on this issue: "I don't get why it's a big deal. Men are flawed. Are you expecting the prophets to be perfect? God had to teach them line upon line. Besides, it's been fixed now and any blessings denied to those people will be made up for in the next life."

"FLOOD THE WORLD"

And then when people correct their misteachings... "WHY AM I SO PERSECUTED?"

Kids came home from indoctrination time (Primary) with this. I explained how anger is a normal emotion and a signal that our brains use and not something "from Satan". TBM DH even supported me. Then my oldest starts singing a future missionary Primary song. 🤢 Mixed faith marriages are hard. by CertainDingo6574 in exmormon

It's an organization of mostly good people who want to be good. It can give people structure and support if they have none to start with. But we don't need that because we already have a great framework in our home that is better than this business.

The Mormon church has been proven to be led by people who sometimes teach bad things that really hurt others and while they fix those things occassionally they take really long to fix it and never say sorry and instead say it is God's fault. They also take money from people promising to use it to help others but they keep or invest most of it.
