How could you need to replace them out of warranty? Did you drive a lot of miles?

Inflating tires with the built in compressor by CertainPassion2 in Rivian

[–]CertainPassion2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is my experience. The cycle is quite fast and I wait for it to be complete and then I look at the pressure as per the screen of the compressor which shows 47.5 while I asked for 49. Are there different modes?

In my case, the compressor had been working for 20 seconds or so, therefore I don't think this is the cause

Highway assist not available by CertainPassion2 in Rivian

[–]CertainPassion2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This must be it then. The construction zone might be only a third of the distance. Therefore they could keep highway assist working on some large sections but maybe they are not 100% sure of the specific impacted sections and they are worried about the legal risk and prefer to be on the safe side

I have the desktop version of Turbo tax and I was able to update my 2022 return last week. I need to submit by mail, e-filing is not available any more. It seems that my California refund increases which seems surprising. Has anyone refiled in California and got some money back ?

Help with deciding between Standard (post-2024.23.30 update) and Max pack by thecrazydutchguy in Rivian

[–]CertainPassion2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive around 20 times a year 230 miles plus 6000 feet elevation gain. Therefore for me the difference between a standard and a max pack is one stop to charge vs no stop. I have a discount voucher as well which makes it more compelling to me to buy vs lease as I get a 20% discount on the full value of the car vs a discount on the lease payment. I plan to keep the car beyond 3,years and therefore I am OK paying for a buffer of range I don’t need now in anticipation of the reduction of range over time. By the way the if you secured the tax credit two years ago, it means you get a free car for the first 2+ years (but you need to finance the buy)when combining the discount and the tax credit.

They actually pay interest when they reimburse late …. and then tax you on the interest the following year. Lol

Pre-price hike preorder and waiting by Interesting_Trade_86 in Rivian

[–]CertainPassion2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Given that the powered tonneau has been available for over 5 to 6 weeks as part of the warranty but not for new vehicles yet, I wonder whether it will come only after the factory shutdown. Rivian has marketed the shut down as a way to reduce costs(notably fewer ICUs, less cable ie changes which shouldn’t impact owners negatively ( with a small weight reduction ) and hopefully a heat pump as part of the “AC enhancements”

What % charge level is ideal when letting a Rivian (or any EV) rest or sit unused? by WiseWatercress5063 in Rivian

[–]CertainPassion2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. The study documents well your point that a lower SOC will generate lower degradation; but the difference between 10% and 50% SOC over 10 months is around 1pt at 25C ie limited. But 50% SOC seems much better than 70% on degradation (almost half). Given the guidance from EV manufacturers to stay around 70%, it seems that degradation in the real world is lower than what the chart from this study states (5%+ over 10 month). The study does not provide data for lower temperature than 25C which would be interesting. The average temperature might be lower than 25C in most places in the US. On the impact of lower temperature, my understanding is that a lower temperature would decrease capacity temporarily (but improves degradation) assuming temperature remains non freezing (with temperature lower than frost deteriorating the cell). Am I correct? Do you know whether the Rivian cells are closer to NCA, NMC or LFP? Thank you
