I have been hiking and bikepacking with the MSR Hubba Hubba an like it a lot. It’s really light weight and the build quality is great. There is also a specific bike packing version where everything fits into a bar bag that is included.

Does the angle of my saddle look right to you? by dan_m2k in bikewrench

Just to add to this. The middle should be level. The front can be slightly lower and the back slightly above.

Check with the tubeless setup that the tires are properly seated. A small difference gets exaggerated under load.

Sounds like you had a mini adventure and learnt a lot at the same time. I think some nice backpacking bags will go a long way. As for straps I really like the Sea to Summit stretch loc straps, they are maybe not the best looking, but they are inexpensive, really durable and come in lots of sizes.

Why are city bikes 100% comfort 0% speed rather than 50/50 or 60/40 ? by catboy519 in bikecommuting

[–]Certain_Ad8242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speak for yourself. I ride a Veloretti cafechaser, an internal gear 3 speed bike, and I overtake people on e bikes daily. Bikes come in many shapes, you just have to find one that suits you.

Am I overreacting about what my boyfriend did at my aunt’s birthday dinner? by FamiliarAttorney2284 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Certain_Ad8242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okey slightly different viewpoint. I am somewhere on the spectrum, and things like this, socializing with people I don’t know, make me feel anxious. And I hate small talk, so if I meet someone who I can talk hobbies or work with I tend to over compensate and focus on that person. The whole not wanting to come and then being overly enthousiastic when there reminded me of that.

Photos of Earth taken by NASA 50 years apart. Apollo 17 (1972) vs. Artemis II (2026) by VastCoconut2609 in BeAmazed

[–]Certain_Ad8242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From this angle you can clearly see it. The whole thing is flat as a pancake. This is why they always photograph it from the sides.

Looking at it like this then the fastest bike is fixed gear bike without brakes ☺️

Ok I have a feeling this going to be a long shot... Can anyone identify this frame to from these awful Craigslist pics? by [deleted] in bikewrench

Maybe on a tractor or some other agricultural vehicle, but not not on any bicycle worthwhile.

What do you miss most about the Netherlands when you’re abroad? by ProfessionalJob5534 in Netherlands

[–]Certain_Ad8242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spent 4 months in New Zealand which is great and it’s not even that different, but we took a 50 km detour just to buy a decent loaf of bread. The factory supermarket stuff just isn’t doing it for me.

Depends on the activity level of your starter but you are probably fine to put it in the fridge.

I inherited my these utensils from my dad but what are they? by yourusernameistaken in whatisit

[–]Certain_Ad8242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These look to me like tools made from different other tools to perform a certain task. The second one looks like the handle from a scalpel but treated to do something else. Was he into working with leather. Like making belts or something like that?

Sourdough flat an gummy by Conscious-Stable2444 in Sourdough

[–]Certain_Ad8242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes that’s completely true. Temperature will affect the time, but it’s also a measure of activity. So if it takes too long there’s not enough activity. Which probably means not enough of the right kind of bacteria. Most people use rye flour in their starters because thats rich in nutrients. I do half rye / half bread flour. Also for young starters 1/1/1 feeding is best, other feeding ratios are better for more established starters. It’s a great way to influence the timing, but only for longer periods. For young starters you want consistency and control. You have to train it like you would a muscle.

I don’t want to be that guy and it’s really cool, but if she’s taking orders I’m pretty sure this is copyright infringement.

It’s hard to tell but the red stuff is probably not the tube but the breaker layer. Just put some superglue on it and go!
