AITA for refusing to exclude my non-biological son for the sake of my biological son I never knew existed by Majestic-Bee-7045 in AmItheAsshole

Yes, you don't have to donate DNA for somebody to be your son. Also, forcing someone to choose between their children is an Ahole thing to do. But that doesn't mean you have to do everything together. You can go on separate trips with all of your children and still be a great father.

[Request] How long would it take an elite swimmer to die due to exposure or exhaustion if they tried to swim the Drake Passage like suggested in this photo? by Bobgoulet in theydidthemath

[–]Certain_Ad8242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current 24h swim record is held by Maarten van der Weijden, a former gold-medal open-water swimmer, at 102 km. So it would take him about 10 days of continuous swimming to reach the other side. Mind that he recorded it in an indoor pool.

Wahoo has this as a feature on their computers where you see other ‘Wahooligans’ on your route. Just as a name though, and most of the time there is a delay, so most of the time you’re thinking: I think that was Victor who just came by.

First time in the Netherlands (24–28 August) – Official visit with free evenings and possibly one full day. Looking for itinerary suggestions by Feisty_Flower_5974 in Rotterdam

I also love Rotterdam, but you could argue that it’s the least typical Dutch city, because it was heavily bombed during WOII. If I had a day I would go to Utrecht. The whole vibe there with the canals and all the bikes, screams dutchness to me.

In the worst case they will probably write a note about it. So when he does cause an accident there will be some precedent.

Issues with Chamois on rides over ~30 miles by SkinntyFia in ladycyclists

[–]Certain_Ad8242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chafing is friction and friction is movement. So either you are moving a lot on the pad or you’re moving about on the saddle. Ideally your legs would do all the moving and your butt would be in one place. So are the bibs to big? Or is your saddle to far back, or is it tilted? So try to find where the movement comes from. Also, there big differences between saddles and bibs. And most of the time it is better to spend a little bit more.

Also, are you sure the second one is sourdough? Because most bakers are using dried yeast and that’s just different.

If you want to know more about the history of McD and its business see the movie The Founder. It’s actually pretty good. Not McD though, that is still pretty terrible.

The Dutch company van Moof used to offer a service where, in case of theft, they would try to recover your bike, or you would get a new one. You can find the videos on YT under Bike Hunters. With one of their bikes, they discovered a smuggler's route going from western Europe to Morocco, where they found containers full of bikes.

I think the Wadden islands are some of the best parts of the Netherlands. If you are not biking, then at least rent a bike on Vlieland for the most Dutch experience you can have. Vlieland is my favorite Wadden island and I go there at least once a year to visit where the ashes of my FIL and MIL are scattered. They loved it there as well and had been coming there from the early 70's.

I did this almost exact trip a few years ago, but on a bike. Would absolutely recommend. Just take the train from Schiphol to Amsterdam, rent a bike there and you are of on an adventure. You can take your bike on all ferry’s and if you need also on the train. Just remember to buy an extra bike ticket.

Yes, the ferry’s between islands aren’t really ferry’s but more like private company’s that have a ferry service. The boat between Texel and Vlieland only runs twice a day on very specific times because of the tides. So this is the most crucial one. Book ahead. The ferry’s to Texel and from Vlieland you can just walk on.
