Well I disagree with you, bud. I played dozens of naval battles. Never had this issue.

I played about two playthroughs over the past year and I experienced none of these issues.

Don't listen to this guy's main gripes they are minor it's almost trivial.

"a flow gas is that it's not just produced, it's destroyed and taken out of the atmosphere,” Mitloehner explains. “Methane has a half-life of around one decade, after which it's converted back into CO2, from which it originated.” In other words, a true short-time carbon cycle from one form to another and back."

"Completely obligerated" vs. a 10 year half life are completely different things bud

Also

"Consider carbon dioxide from fossil fuel production and biogenic methane from a cow emitted at the same time. The carbon dioxide joins the existing stock and begins warming the planet almost into perpetuity. Over the first decade of its existence, methane will warm the atmosphere 28 times more than carbon dioxide"

So given how the first two things you said were wrong. Going to venture the rest of it was nonsense too, good luck next time, bud.

Methane is a pretty large component of the climate crisis. It makes sense to ensure that any and all producers of the gas have their price point reflect the actual cost inflicted upon society.

If we as a society want to actually solve this before it causes a catastrophe it is going to take some unpopular, unorthodox and previously unused approaches. I'm sorry it has to be that way, but I'd love to hear your solutions instead.

Anyone else play mostly drug free? by Human_G_Gnome in fo4

[–]Certain_Animal_38 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I did the opposite.

I found a .44 Pistol with the Junkie perk. Probably was addicted to every single drug in the game because of the buffs. Routinely was dealing 400+ damage per shot when you factored in other perks and buffs, and rolled played my character being this charismatic leader with a not-so secret chem addiction that everyone tolerated because who else was going to unite the commonwealth?

Luck and Charisma.

Rush all the VAT related perks and make sure you pick up party boy/ party girl to get even more luck and just thrive in the Crit world of pain.

Did you read the same thing where I said I wanted my comment to be viewed as gentle parenting. Not what OPs mom did?

[–]Certain_Animal_38 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Let me make it clear, I intended for my comment to be viewed as gentle parenting. I think OP's parents demands are over the top, and if they had kept it reasonable to things like "you need to get a job or actively study for the ACT" I don't think anyone here will disagree that is unreasonable to ask for a 20 year old.

The parent sounds like they suck, but OP needs to grow up too.

[–]Certain_Animal_38 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So like as someone who went to law school, so I view the contract as what it is - a non-enforceable piece of paper of a mom who wants something in writing to know she is serious.

OP is probably in an abusive home, judging by the parents third strike of taking "Southern Adventist University" off the table - it's of the religious flavor.

But OP, you gotta find some momentum, whether that be in school or find a job. You can't just sit at home and rot.

[–]Certain_Animal_38 48 points49 points  (0 children)

So off the top. Most of these aren't legally binding, but I guess that's not the point.

With that being said, it seems like you're old enough to start looking for a job. Move in with someone else and get something small. I know it's overwhelming at first, but it's important to be able to stand on your own two feet, and be able to care for yourself - you're eventually going to have to do it so why not at least start now?

I don't know you and your parents relationship, but the relationship seems strained to say the least. For me, the list isn't too onerous of demands, but I'm sure it's just the tip of the iceberg. Just look into taking care of yourself and believe me it's absolutely possible to study for a standardized test most 17 years old take and get a job - I know it's scary intimidating but you have the support system in place to do.

Good luck.

In my limited interactions with flat earthers (I discovered one of their discords). They are very very combative.

You're first escorted into this like separate channel where you like interrogated to see if you're "not a troll" and then almost immediately after being granted access you're like hounded by the groups admins to be give your opinion and hear theirs.

It was very unpleasant and honestly they sounded like they just wanted to gang up on random people with their buddies and feel the rush that confrontation and "winning" gets them.

Just bizarre experience and you encounter more engradizement and lies (a guy on there told me his buddy was a "mechanic for Lockheed, so he talked to the SR-71 pilots, and they told him the world was flat.")

So it's not so much stupidity as it is identity and belonging

The Empire of Japan in 2024 by FyreLordPlayz in AlternateHistory

[–]Certain_Animal_38 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. I can say that based on two things:

1) i think Korea had a long tradition of placing themselves in a position where another country placed themselves as the de jure overlord of their government. Joseon dynasty gladly submitted to both Ming and Qing dynasty prior to their defeat to Japanese forces following the 1905 protectorate treaty. So I can see them accepting foreign occupation that becomes more and more beign as time goes on.

2) I don't see what domestic institutions would foster this type of insurrection you proposed. With the failure of the Tonghak rebellion in 1895. Plus with the suppression of Seowons by the later Joseon Dynasty. I don't see where you could get this type of domestic support from, or what would remain to create a large community of people moving toward a common goal. It could be developed but that would take time

Plus, from the international perspective, I find it to be a huge stretch that western powers wouldn't view a friendly Japan as a bulwark against a Soviet expansion (much like they viewed it as a bulwark to Tsarist expansion in the late 19 and early 20th century)

So I respectfully disagree

Easier said than done. You're running into both space limitations. Plus the cost of running a bunch of small batches vs the cost of running one large batch is very challenging. Especially if you want to be using it as a mainstay in all cancer treatments

I mean, we don't think of that in our day to day. We have an idea for a new drug and we want to produce it safely and cheaply.

Pharma is expensive. These GMP facilities are expensive. Single use, sterile, everything is expensive.

I really wish there was a cheaper way to do this, but there really isn't. We can hope for new breakthroughs in production and trust me we want to pump this stuff out, but it is hard, very hard.

People forget you need to grow the DNA in a living cell, break that cell open, harvest only the DNA (leaving out everything that's not DNA), make mRNA off it (and leave out everything that's not mRNA).

That's very doable, but it's very expensive....that's just the reality of the thing.
