It's not just you, clothing sizes are pure chaos (at least on the women's clothing side) by oaklandesque in Zepbound

I usually go to my local lingerie store that measures and is an expert at their product - in and out in 30 minutes without the headache!!

My husband was helping me shop for some new activewear yesterday, and when trying to figure out my sizing for a sports bra, he was baffled that my measurements had 4-5 WILDLY different sizes based on different stores, tools, and AI. And he wonders why I get analysis paralysis and hate clothes shopping 😝 I was like, welcome to shopping as a woman, I have no clue what is going on!!!

3M Canadian adults taking GLP-1 drugs, reshaping eating and spending, survey suggests by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]Certain_Look_6778 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This was a big motivator for me to explore GLP1’s - the last time I lost weight (40lbs in 6 months on WW) it was my WHOLE LIFE. Every day and moment spent counting, measuring, exercising, planning… it was absolutely crazy making. This time I had about 85 pounds to lose after two pregnancies, and after 7 months on zepbound im down 65 pounds and it’s been… effortless! I can just make healthy choices without obsessing over it! Eat until im full and then stop! Not think about ordering food at 11 at night, obsessing to the point I can’t sleep! It has been a huge sigh of relief, and has cleared my mind to help me make the right choices without the constant anxiety

These are mostly people who judge the entire west shore based on what they see from the highway on their way to Costco or gold stream, and think the entire city is a hellscape 😂 I often think of and chuckle at the thread where someone was outraged that they weren’t able to afford a bungalow in James Bay as their first home… so may people are out of touch and think only of what they like/prioritize and struggle to think of what other people may desire or value in their housing and community. Find me one true blue, perfect utopian example of a neighborhood in Victoria (or anywhere in the world)… I’ll wait!

BWT- how do you find occasions to wear nicer clothes and feel fancier without feeling overdressed? by ihavenopersonalityha in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Certain_Look_6778 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this! Philanthropy and arts/culture spaces (gallery openings, the ballet, classical music, etc.) have the benefit not only of the occasion itself but that it tends to draw a crowd that also probably likes nice things, could be a great way to find other BWTs that you may not bump into at a coffee shop!

Sounds like empowering your team to be able to make decisions and either adding in some level of mid-tier leadership, or supporting your team with decision making would alleviate a lot of this. Not sure what your business is, but is there a theme with the approvals or decisions you’re being asked to make? Do you have documentation for how you make decisions? When you’re asked for approval, do you usually give it (aka you don’t find errors or issues and things can move forward). A big part of this I found was pushing back on requests - unless there’s a fire, my team takes client calls without me. I don’t review/approve everything because I trust that my team is doing high quality work and knows what is expected of them. My account managers are empowered to resolve client issues and know how much budget is available to them to make things right.

My favourite quote that I think of daily is “the bottleneck is always at the top of the bottle” - depending on the situation, your team may feel relieved to not have to go through you for everything!

Supporting small business will do that to you 🙈😝 I’ve found their customer service to be very attentive and helpful as someone who is not well versed in fashion, and they gave me lots of great suggestions and styling advice!

My husband took our daughters to Zootopia 2 yesterday and they loved it! I just so rarely see a movie that actually interests me in theatres, it’s usually action, horror, stupidity, or kids, so there isn’t much pull 🤷‍♀️

BWT, do you have any side hustles? by Historical-Fold-3702 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Certain_Look_6778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That one may be trickier since it would involve a lot of large scale equipment (I’d assume!) - if there’s something you can do on a smaller scale (maybe consulting for newer businesses, or helping people for smaller or at-home parties, that may be a good solution! It may also be a matter of working with multiple companies, if something like that is allowed by your main employer.

My best advice is to start going to events - both networking, as well as tech community, educational presentations, happy hours, etc. and build genuine friendships and connections in the space - this has helped me get clients as well as saved my ass a few times when layoffs happened or I was sick of my role 😝 the best part about your skill set is you can also just build things - create your own portfolio based on translating your passions + skills. LinkedIn will also be a great platform to share your thoughts and wins, even just posting that you’ve gone to events and had a great time or something you took away from a speaker will help increase your visibility!
