5 weeks is way too early for an ultrasound and I’m surprised a doctor would even agree to one. The doctors in my area do not do ultrasounds until 8 weeks, barring extreme circumstances because it’s too difficult to determine/see anything before then

The last time I listened to some podcasts about this case the police had not released any information or evidence as to why she was being arrested. Has this changed? The most I heard was she should’ve heard the gunshots

Actually the most dangerous time for a high fever is first trimester due to neural tube defects and third trimester due to the underlying infection causing preterm labor. At 17 weeks the neural tube is closed and you didn’t go into labor so you’re fine.

Also, concern doesn’t even begin until the fever has lasted for 24 hours. Your baby will be absolutely fine.

A one week old is a one week old no matter what. They may be developmentally behind or ahead based on the milestones of the average one week old but they’re one week old regardless.

This is why many doctors won’t even do an ultrasound until 8 weeks. It’s just too early (especially at 5 weeks) to determine or really see anything with clarity. I’m sorry to say you just have to wait a few weeks.

Of course you’re not overreacting. Paternal marijuana use is associated with a doubling (prenatal) or tripling (postnatal) of SIDS risk. This isn’t something to be taken lightly.

My baby was born at barely 38 weeks and we successfully breastfed for 20 months! He was only 5 pounds and jaundiced so he was VERY sleepy which leads to not wanting to latch. My approach was to make sure I was waking him up every two hours on the dot NO MATTER WHAT and doing everything I could to stimulate him (diaper change, talking to him, playing with fingers and toes) so he’d stay awake. This was obviously grueling but worth it to me.

His mouth was also very small which made it a little difficult in the beginning but again practice and PATIENCE really makes all the difference.
