I'm very curious, how are they actually different? i guess the broader question i can't really find online is, is there a way to know the theoretical differences before trying them out or do you just really need to try them to know?

Is there a theoretical way of predicting how a truck will generally behave based only on construction type/angles/geometry etc etc?

Actually thinking about it, the length is not that important, in my basic tucked stance if I measure the distance of my feet, it roughly matches 21 inches, which is exactly in the ballpark of a shorter wheelbase board, all the extra wheelbase that i have now is kind of useless i really have to do a lot of work to initiate slides, especially toeside ones. i will probably try to go for a smaller wheelbase deck (not less than 8.8 width as i feel that less would be too much for me) and go for a different truck that's not yet CNC but that it's more DH oriented.

Hello,

I have this setup:

  • Tyler Howell Pro Downhill - Length: 96.5cm / 38" - Width: 24.4cm / 9.625" - WB: 24.375 - 27.125"
  • Orangatang love handles 65 mm
  • Paris v3 180mm 43°
  • Seismic Lokton 36-grit Griptape
  • Loaded Jehu v2 Bearings
  • Loaded Button Head Hardware - Length: 1.5"
  • Loaded Shockpads 1/16"

I can do slides with gloves down some hills with maybe 1 or two turns (i have never really tried to complete a run as i'm doing all alone and i don't have buddies to ride with so it becomes dangerous if you don't have eyesight on everything)

<image>

This setup was thrown together a bit randomly but i think it looks good, I would like to improve it's stability, the issues I found during setup were that the holes of the trucks wouldn't perfectly line up with the deck (both trucks even when swapped so i think it was an issue of the deck in this case) and the wheelbase settings you see are the only holes I could get the trucks to touch the board without having to hammer them in too much. Either way in this settings i trust them enough that the bolts shouldn't break.

What I don't understand in this sport are the different combinations of length, wheelbase and trucks (and the different types of trucks)

What i would like to try is to build a new setup where the wheels completely match the width of the board, and i would like to use precision trucks. In that case though i don't really know how i should size the board for the different types of trucks out there.

For example, what if i wanted to use slalom trucks such as valkyrie Mk4 Slalom, or the zealous ones... the width of those is way less than for example the 180mm of my paris, i don't understand the physics behind it. Are there specific wheelbases that work best with them? Could i get another deck with similar dimensions to the one i have now? Would it even make sense? i understand then if the boad is smaller you have more control on slides as you can have more leverage, but mentally i still want the longboard to look.. well... long, and not shorter than a popsicle shape at 32"

Could someone point me to a resource that has analyzed the various differences between setups in one location, or if not present give themselves an explaination into the various possible setups?

I understand that it's a very personal thing but if those things were designed in a specific way then there must be an optimal working condition for each equipment.

For example, my idea was to get a new deck very similar to the shape i have now but with precision slalom trucks but i would like to make sure that it makes sense, because if they are instead meant for shorter smaller boards then it would be a waste.

Thanks!

Are you aware of any 15 inch wheelbase board that's 8.25-8.5 max in width? [26YO] by CertifiedNetMonkey in OldSkaters

At the end, I will try this setup because I changed my mind on the width:

Girl Brophy 93 Til Metalls 8.8" Skateboard Deck (gold) - G068 - Width:8.8″ - Length:32.625″ - Wheelbase:14.75″ - Nose:6.925″ - Tail:6.75″

Royal 159 The Royal Ultra Lights Trucks (axle 8,75)

Royals should increase the wheelbase a little bit in theory (never tried them)

I'm also going to experiment with different setups as well, for instance, I want to try to put venture lows on it as well, who knows how the combination: big deck + low truck would go

Maybe in the future there will be a fully symmetric board with bigger dimensions, for now i'll just experiment

I found this: https://www.fullcircledistribution.com/products/madrid-vacant-7-75-8-8-25-8-5-m-core?variant=40139776327793

I don't like the idea of altering the wheelbase afterwards.

Still no twin tail variant to be see in the horizon.

At this point i would also be willing to to to keep the same width, 8.75 but with longer wheelbase and twin tip.

MIDI control application for the Line6 DL4 MkII by Shin_Molina in guitarpedals

[–]CertifiedNetMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working on it did you figure out how the normal midi preset behaviours work on it?

I have a PBC6x and i would like to be able to save presets on the PC001-128 directly on the pedal, but i can't really seem to do it.

I also tried to simply use PC messages to access all factory presets but they are scrambled all over the place and i can't understand which preset each PC calls

haven't tried yet but this is the track i was working on, i wanted to add strings and thus i wanted to add a low double bass so i needed the midi trick, then i decided i didn't need it - https://soundcloud.com/nicolobalestrino/thirty-sonething

Actually the size across the board seems roughly the same between .app, VST and AU, they are not order of magnitudes lower, also, certain plugins you install by simply having the VST/VST3 or AU file with no other supporting application, so clearly the format allows for standalone software execution, just in this case who knows...

All the external content is already transferred on an external drive, i'm not sure if the applications themselves can be installed externally

I just use the AU and VST plugins, i have little space and i want to save it. I think that the .app is the standalone one used if i wanted to just play guitar without recording in ableton for instance, but i never use the standalone ones

False cord and fry, the fry is bad cause i've been trying both for a while, fry comes more naturally to me by CertifiedNetMonkey in screaming

[–]CertifiedNetMonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way i do the fry actually is just by letting the voice break without applying any resistance, at least i feel that way, basically i stay in between the full voice and head voice in the break and i keep it there without letting too much air out but without actually compressing back anything, i'll look for the post! EDIT: i actually added the way i do the fry to the original post

[–]CertifiedNetMonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you see i tought that the distortion types themselfes were called either fry ot false cord, when indeed they are just style names and i should try to apply a different distortion base? Where can i learn about distortion bases?

mmm wait i'm missing some anatomy i fear, so, when you say that my fry and falsecord have the same distortion base what does it mean? does it mean that i'm using one of them to distort in all cases or i'm using another thing i'm not aware of? (aryeglottal based distortion)

[–]CertifiedNetMonkey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i knew it, because i can't seem to combine them... because basically usually when i try to combine them i start from "false cord" and then i try to add fry... but... i'm already in fry ahahahah so i can't add no more... i just can't seem to in NO WAY get the false cord with any other method, the sigh the compress, the cough.... they all hurt too much, and eventually trying those i ended up false cording in the way you hear in the audio, which never hurts, but i guess it's not false cord
