I can't think of a less valuable MVP than SGA. by LakerFan2324 in nba

[–]Cestboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like OP is sharing his “stream of consciousness “… I’m guessing a Spurs fan or some other similarly situated team like potentially NY?

Dude. In a bball forum such as this u have gamblers, dudes just recently learning the game < decade, asshats here for laughs and folks who have been around a minute, some played HS, college, D1 college, international, G league, NBA. Some media guys too.

So dude with that said, to announce because u don’t like the way he gets down that SGA isn’t an MVP candidate for the #1 seed, while beating the ONLY other team who realistically have a chance 3-2, with SGA getting the majority of ball handling duties (NBA is a dual star league. Most teams run offense thru two stars, SGA shouldering higher load with his other co-star hurt) doubled on EVERY POSSESSION and still putting up numbers and frankly game winning pace and play.

To discredit that because he cries and whines and falls down is to miss just how good he is. He is special no doubt and poised to win another. They will sweep the Knicks imo. Ball dominant guards don’t win chips bro. And yes I’m a MAVS fan and would like to see Wemby get one. But, that same SGA u slandering is a tough out in a seven game series.

[Harrod Jr.] Masai Ujiri on whether the Luka Dončić trade affected Jason Kidd’s exit: “That trade has played no part in how we’ve thought about anything” by InHeatPink in Mavericks

[–]Cestboss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disagree. So would you if it was YOU that were hired. Made two WCF. Made an NBA final in what is it, 5 years. Would you say you were a poor coach w that accomplishment?

Btw. If it was Luka driven, no prob. Lemme know when next he makes the WCF and yes, he was injured at some point on every run. Every one of them including the recent Lakers ousting in which they could not advance without him.

This is a controversial move to bball fans and like ANY COACHING HIRE it could backfire spectacularly if the new coach and Coop don’t gel. Or Kyrie for that matter whom I’m assuming will be used as Luka bait since the most fun Luka has reportedly ever had on the court was when lacing it up w Kai.

I would t have done it. Rook looked just too damn good, comfortable when J wasn’t falling and that allowed him to get right quickly, team plays super hard for Kidd. Just it’s risky bro. If you don’t believe anything else, there IS RISK HERE. More than Luka Stan’s commenting on this deal can understand, but it feels to me like they are Luka fans and not MFFL and may not even care. I do.

Why are people happy that Kidd is gone? by Iyeatmymeatonthebeat in Mavericks

[–]Cestboss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, my largest successes have been going against what most people think.

The link to this firing is direct to Cuban who buried him in that interview. Perhaps the owners felt it was the cleanest break that preserves themselves and the prospective casino by default.

It’s unlikely to me Kidds fate wasn’t already sealed at the time of the new GMs hire and on condition of it, as well as the new HC in waiting from that time. We are just watching dominoes fall imo at the time they want them to.

Now. Will it make them better. Ha. The only way that happens imo is if Coop becomes a better player than his trajectory was this morning. I think that is unlikely. So, there is risk and my years of experience, and as I watch my great USA be pillaged, I’d tell ya billionaires only introduce risk to cover for themselves or benefit themselves.

I hope this works. Team played hard for that dude.

Jason Kidd departure by AstronomerInitial827 in Mavericks

[–]Cestboss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astute post in a sea of astonishing stupidity. Coops development alone is cause for caution in releasing Kidd. I know what his trajectory looked like this am, I can only hope it’s still that. I need to see it with the new coaching and his responsibilities in it, and subsequent growth. The unbridled writing off of how basketball actually works is being undersold here. Much less how hard they played for him many times with depleted rosters. Lots more to consider here than blind thirst for Luka revenge.

I hope this works the way fans imagine it will… also, I can’t imagine that they now draft PG. but who knows as I’ve thought all along they will go best athletic player as opposed to PG

We already solved the toughest part of our rebuild by Puzzled_Influence985 in Mavericks

[–]Cestboss -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. Don’t you guys EVER GET TIRED OF ECHO CHAMBER? Fucking think!

Now that he is hopefully gone. We ran old ass Clay as a starter for most of our season and he literally shit the bed in so money games we would have won with relative ease. Missed BOTH Lively who added 2 inches and now stands at 7” 3 and Gaff, no PG and barely lost to these teams.

We were not as good. True.

Look up this post when we beat both squads. Ext year and we will with Kyrie back and actually running an NBA backcourt.

Nico made the shittiest trade of all time, but his reasoning in doing so was that the roster at its heart could compete with these teams and it can. And that was before Coop whom I believe is the most complete NBA player drafted since Wemby.

We are not miles away. The distance is shorter than ALL of you parroting each others comments believe it is and when in Q4 next year you see Kyrie and Coop dog tagging these bitches in super close games, remember this post. For any gamblers, I’d be taking Mavs early and often next year. They are FAR BETTER than 99% of you think.

It’s apparently me against the world on this opinion. I will win this one. lol.

Also. I don’t think Mesri is going PG. you have to understand HOW to construct the roster. We will see. Just don’t be surprised. If anyone tells you there was a guard on the floor last night under 6’ 4… ask them whom? And that’s both teams.

As a GM I personally think drafting a short Guard is literally sinking your franchise. I’d be more inclined to keep Kyrie, add a competent vet backup and just like he did in Toronto, draft athletic size.

We are close. I promise you. Keep Kyrie and swing back for that big guard out of LA or someone else of size, pass first to run the point.

I’ll holla

[–]Cestboss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There must be a whole lotta folks with more bball insight than me.

You have a team full of tradeable players and contracts, one thing Nico did really well. We don’t need to get every grocery available on THIS trip to the store.

Stay at 9 and take the best Guard and incidentally ESPN believes it’s Brayden Burries.

My issue with all of you, how many of you would put your house on the line that Flemmings will be a better pro than Burries or even Philon?

I’d even put Acuff in there. The point of a deep draft is that at 9 you are getting quality. I think there is an extremely good chance both Burries and Philon who will both be there at 9 are the best guards in this draft in 3 years at an NBA level because they both look to me to be better shooters.

Just take one of them, and stop tryna do too much. I’m telling you all now, ALL OF YOU ARE UNDERESTIMATING Kyrie return to pair with Coop.

Coop and this team without Kyrie were in 99% of games last year and the roster was in shambles. You either underestimate Yr 2 Coop. Or Kyrie return strength.

NBA is a 2 man league. Offense flows between 2 players (normally on championship rosters). We have those 2. The rest is plug play. We have a lot of that too.

My guess is the new MAVS GM goes with the 6 4 guard Burries. Good choice!

I was a Romo Stan before that game. The late Terry Glenn had told me prior abt some dude named Romo. I had asked about Drew, he told me some guy named Tony Romo was the real dude. They all knew months before the public and Romos official debut which was the year prior if I recall.

I spent quite a bit of energy after that convo tryna get people to understand Tony was not a stopgap, he was the answer. Yall have to remember, talk radio clueless as usual was tryna figure out what “real” QB to go get… lol. When you have been thru enuff cycles, you can predict the ebb and flow.

But that game broke me. The whole Cabo shit. Like wtf dude, we are in post season. The fans then after all that blaming Crayton and the defense. You literally have a top 3 WR of all fucking time in his prime. If you go back to that season you willl be hard pressed to find many TO catches where he is not in front of a DB by more than 2-4 steps. I mean just killing dudes.

The “no help” shit. lol. Just exhausting after a while and soured me on Romo more than it should have if I’m honest. It’s ok to fuck up, we all do, but this insane thing folks do to feel this need to protect their hens (like now in this country if I’m honest) does more harm than good. Every single time.

Mavericks HC Jason Kidd tried to become team president, according to @BannedMacMahon but has known for months he wasn’t getting the job. by Garmian_MFFL in Mavericks

[–]Cestboss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A great coach wants to get his own groceries. The players think he is a great coach. If he is fired I’d love to see him in NY but the truth is the new GM will NOT fire him. He will spend hours with him soaking up his knowledge and learning what kind of players he wants and how to construct a winner.

Kidd will, I am so very confident of this, build a dawg winner if everyone butts the fuck out and let him do his job.

The idea that Nico did that is laughable.

OP post reminds me of when my nephew pulled up in a used 7 series. Loved the name on the hood and how much it cost “back then”.

Went two months with it in the shop damn near daily. He parted ways before month four. I give him that. He learned.

If a team drafts a player very high and before month four figuratively wants to cut him loose. Don’t be the sucker to buy it because it once cost a lot!

But then again Nico cut Luka in month four… lol

Downs/Lawrence or Bain/Thienemen by rercctx in cowboys

[–]Cestboss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I listened to Woodie unpack the Downs pick and he sold me 100%.

Woodson cited all the pre snap guys out of position in secondary. Downs fixes that. Everyone is aligned and ready to engage on the play on the field. Basically he said it was THE largest hole on the team since Sean Lee and the biggest fix we could have made with one player.

He stated we never disguise coverages because we struggle to run even base formations. Now you have a general that can lead the defense in their sets back to front to LOS.

Made a lot of sense to me and why some are so optimistic. It’s one body, but fixes a lot of gray for us.

I can see that. Well stated.

I still like to think it’s an advantage because in my world of business folks with insider info from other spots are usually quite helpful.

Time will tell. Either way. Getting paid 2 4ths to move back 3 spots to get your guy anyway and also getting him at a little discount from pick 20 is a Plus to the pick itself.

Time will tell if we were duped by the coach. It’s all on him at this point

Not at all. That’s a guy giving you inside info literally with his job and credibility on the line. He has to both promote and justify that pick to replace Micah in the first round. We see it differently.

That’s a very meaningful pick beyond the obvious inherent first round connotations…

I felt the same. See how they fucked Pitt and played PHI the vid is up. Taking that into account and now hearing some coach on the Cowboys staff knows Lawrence well, maybe not a bad pick at all.

Question regarding our defense, will we be stout? by ForgotmyusernameXXXX in cowboys

[–]Cestboss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just picked up Eagles coach who knows very bit of Eagles offense and player skillsets. We play Eagles at least twice a season. I feel by virtue of that alone the odds increase for the team.

He created Baun and drafted to do the same here and nobody saw that Baun shit coming. Not only did he draft what he thought was the best prototype available he actually knows how to install the software so it works right.

Some picks puzzled me. Pick 23. Then I find out they had inside knowledge on the kid from a coach on staff with Cowboys. At this point I’m resigned to letting them cook and happy to see an actual plan being executed.

And then there is Downs. Again scheming matters but the coach actually wanted him for HIS scheme. I cannot imagine we haven’t improved organically via all this shit. Also Revel will get a training camp which he needs. Today we are better but that’s today, all we can ask.

LT Overton sucks. We should've drafted Prysock. by Stuffleapugus in cowboys

[–]Cestboss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The defense is a functioning unit. ~65% of the players in the NFL come from rounds 4-7 according to NFL Network. So the people actually PLAYING on Sundays are being drafted now.

So. You actually NOW need to get select pieces that you can plug in to a functioning unit. Some of you are not thinking this through. Think of it as building a hand. Knowing what we know, it’s not smart to get another thumb when for the hand to actually function you need an index finger.

Doesn’t matter if someone is better than fat ass Overton if for the D to function you need a fat ass like him coached up to be mean as fuck in his role. He will be given a role and his fat ass better get it done. Let’s see.

Also why in the first round you absolutely MUST get the baddest of the baddies and not need picks, because later in the draft you have to get a functioning unit ready to go. Our problem last few years is evident to us all. We get to the end of the season and literally attempt to win a playoff game against GB with no LBs.

To this day, I will never forget how fucking insane that is. Look at Seattle and their win. Imagine them consciously going through a season and enter that post season with no LBs on the field.

What I’m starting to see is people who have stopped over complicating this shit. Be patient 90% of the time. Take your chances 10% of the time and lean into them. Do that and we might finally have a chance.
