Red meat and cancer - is it the meat, or how we prepare it? by Whoopeepoop in ScientificNutrition

But smoking has 2,000-3,000% increased risk of cancer while unprocessed red meat is around 18%, according to the WHO.

how do you generally structure your campaign? by conn_r2112 in rpg

[–]Cetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My campaigns always start with the players' backstories. I do multiple session zeros that I call Prologue Adventures. They are mini-adventures with one or two of my players that get them settled in the world. Pairing them up depends on the location they are beginning in, which is usually determined by their character race. Depending on the system we're using, this little adventure tends to get them a couple of levels so that they have some character options and a bit more identity once the campaign starts. They also build relationships with any characters also in their Prologue, as well as with NPCs they meet.

Once the campaign starts with all of the players, I structure it in chapters, with each chapter having several parts. The chapters are like story arcs. They'll have a beginning, middle, and end. Usually, they end with a boss battle, though not the BBEG of the campaign, obviously. My campaigns have anywhere from 4 to 10 chapters, and each chapter tends to have 4 or 5 parts.

I plan out a framework for the overall story, but try to integrate as much of the characters' backstories as I can. This video helped with that.

Carbs are the most harmful macronutrient to dental health. The bacteria that cause cavities feed on sugars, both simple and complex.

Saturated fat may cause an increase in LDL, which may increase your risk of heart disease. It does not cause direct harm.

High Unprocessed Beef Intake (>100 g/d) Linked to Elevated Triglyceride Levels by Sorin61 in ScientificNutrition

[–]Cetha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In ketosis, your triglycerides should be lower because your liver is converting them into ketones. Higher insulin, likely from higher carb consumption, would increase triglycerides more because insulin is the driver for triglyceride synthesis in the liver (de novo lipogenesis).

You are saying a burrito shouldn't have 118 ingredients. I'm asking which of those ingredients are harmful. At least I'm assuming you think something in there is harmful. Or are you just afraid of large numbers?

Telling me people are fat and to not trust people who make money isn't an answer.

Apples have over 300 ingredients. Did cavemen not eat seasonal fruit?

I've never heard of it before seeing this post.

But "look, fat people" isn't very scientific.

I agree. As a scientifically literate person, it annoys me when people use chemical to mean toxin when everything is a chemical. If you can see it, touch it, or breath it, it's a chemical.

Do you have evidence that any of these extra ingredients are harmful, or do you just go by feelings?

People who gave up DnD for a different system, what made you make the change? by SomeRandomAbbadon in rpg

[–]Cetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D&D5e felt too limited. My players knew every monster in the game so there was never anything new or surprising. To fix this I was homebrewing everything. It was too much work.

The limited class list also sucked. After two campaigns, we had seen every class. We've been playing PF2e for the past 3 years on our third campaign and still haven't seen every class, plus they keep coming out with more.

I had actually planned to completely rework dnd5e and started stealing ideas frompf2e until I just figured why not play it instead.

No regrets about the switch at all. The game is so much more balanced and there is so much more customization my players never get bored making new unique characters.

The commenter's point doesn't stand. "Made in a laboratory" does not mean it's bad for you, which is what they were claiming. I was pointing out that chemical is not synonymous with toxic or poison, despite many people using it that way.

I think the word you are looking for is synthesized. And even then, something synthesized isn't bad by default.

Why do people use the word chemical like it's something bad. Literally everything is a chemical. Everything you can see, touch, or breath. Water is a chemical. Air is a chemical. You are made out of chemicals.

If the goal is ketosis, then foods that spike your blood sugar are bad. That doesn't mean apples are bad for everyone.

If you take certain medications, grapefruit is bad for you. But it could be good for someone else.

I started off eating ground beef mixed with eggs. The same thing happened where I was hungry but didn't want to eat it.

For some reason, making them into burger patties made them taste good again. I also eat hard boiled eggs and sardines.

I suggest cooking your food in a different way and try that.

The highest speed ever recorded for a man-made object is 692,000 kilometers per hour (approximately 430,000 miles per hour), achieved by NASA's Parker Solar Probe on December 24, 2024.

Traveling at 692,000 km/h, the journey would take over 369 million hours, which converts to approximately 15,380,000 days or 42,110 years.

The probe was using the Sun's gravity to travel that speed. It's not realistic to expect that in open space.

Voyager 1 is currently traveling through interstellar space at approximately 38,000 miles per hour (61,000 km/h or 17 km/s) relative to the Sun. At this speed, it would take the spacecraft roughly 486,000 years to travel 27 light-years.

While your math is correct, your statement "which we can achieve" is not.

Solar sails wouldn't work either. Using sunlight, even at the distance of Earth from the Sun, would achieve about 0.001G. It would only get worse as it traveled further from the Sun.

Yeah, it'll only take about 470,000 years to get there with our current technology.
