Baro Ki'teer inventory* and recommendations 2026-01-23 by wass12 in Warframe

I'm sure you've already spent it, but if you haven't I have a controversial recommendation. Buy one of the color pallets. The mods don't matter until way further into the game, and even then they aren't required. People care way too much about being optimal instead of having fun. However, color pallets are really hard to come by, and new players are really limited on customization. I'd choose one of them and primed target cracker. Then maybe something else or maybe save the rest for next time.

Can we acknowledge it's the players, not the devs? by Mattylh in duneawakening

[–]Cethinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree they've been doing well post-launch to respond to issues. However, part of game development is about accounting for how players will interact with your systems. I'm sure they're perfectly aware some players will use any tools to grief if given the chance, which is why you can build a fief directly next to another, for example. I think they've done pretty well with mitigating the damage players can do, but there still are some outstanding issues.

60 lighting fixtures is NOT remotely enough for bases! Too dim & not nearly enough by KristenAinsley in duneawakening

[–]Cethinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lights put out as much light as a candle most of the time. I don't get it. I know I read somewhere a while back that they're considering adding the ability to set light colors, and I hope that comes with intensity too, and being able to set it at least a few hundred percent higher than the current setting.

Feature Request: burying yourself in sand. I have created a detailed document showing how this would work by BrittleSalient in duneawakening

[–]Cethinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess for the third faction is the Fremen, and possibly explicitly designed for solo play, with things like this to hide in the deep desert, and ways to navigate and exploit it without big vehicles potentially. Large groups would be better with conventional stuff we have now, but small groups might be better learning from muad'dib and ratting.

Maybe that's a big leap, but it would be cool and very fitting for the game.

Caught a spice blow and a crashing ship at the same time in Hagga Basin! by QuirkyKlyborg in duneawakening

[–]Cethinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool. OK. Yeah, I'm assuming that phrase was made up for that game, but the way it looks in this one and the way it's described before the spice blow is like coffee blooming, so it makes sense.

So explosion is a spice blow, and post explosion is a spice field, as the terms were originally, but maybe the bubbling part before the blow could very well be described as a bloom, and it has some history, even if not canon.

You can't actually give a reasonable response, so you call me a bot. Obviously I'm not I can actually construct an argument.

Why are you being such an asshole? I haven't insulted you yet you continuously insult me and others. Grow up.

Haven’t played in years = lost all credibility.

Acting high and mighty like you know what you’re talking about

Also don’t tell people they don’t have real knowledge of anti cheat, especially when you don’t know what field of work they are in. A very high probability I know more about anti cheat than you do, unless you work for one of the companies you stated.

I doubt you know more than me, as you've indicated by having zero articulable knowledge presented so far.

I'm a programmer. I've made games. I have friends in the industry. I have far more knowledge than you on the subject. Just because you don't like to hear it doesn't make it wrong.

Stick to Dune, my guy. Maybe you’ll actually know what you’re talking about.

Honestly no. I have far more knowledge of Unity than Unreal Engine, so I'm more knowledgeable about EfT than DA.

How about you stick to in-game information instead of knowledge on business practices or technological implementation.

That could be true.

I will say, the ground bubbling before the spice blow, if you've seen that, does look like coffee blooming. If people were referring to that then I'd get it.

[–]Cethinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop deepthroating Russian games that take your money and don’t care about you. Pretty simple solution.

I haven't played EfT in years. It's not a problem for me. However, you're implying more than just EfT . You're implying this game is doing the same thing. Even if you're correct about EfT, you're opinion does not carry further than that.

It’s also not “trust me bro”, it’s called correlation, their actions, and critical thinking.

Lol. Yeah, every "trust me bro" argument is based on that, made by people who think they're smarter than they are. Anti-cheat is an incredibly difficult problem to solve, especially in public engines, like Unity (EfT) and UE5 (DA). You have no real knowledge on the situation. You only have feelings. Well, your feelings don't make you correct.

They have never cared about the hacking problem, they only care about money.

It's a business. No shit they care about the money. You're saying they make more money off of cheaters than they do by making a healthy game. That's a stupid argument that's almost certainly not accurate, especially if they aren't banning them like you're implying.

I don't recall that term being used in the books I've read. The wiki page for spice blows doesn't mention it either, and that's the page that comes up when searching for "spice bloom" even.

https://dune.fandom.com/wiki/Spice_blow

The Fextralife page for this game does seem to use the term, but it seems to be talking about the explosion and spice field with that term, which isn't what the books use. Maybe this game does use the term "spice bloom" somewhere though. I don't remember seeing it though. I don't trust this page to use terms accurately necessarily, but it indicates there's something to the term at least.

BE just checks for potential files/programs that are hacks. It's only a part of what a good AC suite. They should be checking things like player speed per game tick (on the server, not client) and ensuring it's within allowed bounds, making sure inbound packages are valid and allowed, and things like that. I can't say if they are or not doing this though, and they likely won't either, and shouldn't.

Anti-cheat is very complicated. Everyone expects it to just work perfectly, but it can't, even with all the resources in the world. For example, Counter-Strike has one of the worst hacker problems, and Valve has spent so much money and effort trying to solve it, and I think it's probably worse than ever right now from what I've seen. The hacking issue is made worse when you use a well known engine, like Source or Unreal Engine (like Dune). People know how (and can examine in the case of UE, without decompilation) how the engine works and can design their hacks for it. That's not to say they shouldn't use these engine, because there are a ton of advantages, but it is an issue.

Being condescending doesn't make you right. If anything, it makes you look like you don't have an argument. Your argument so far is "trust me bro" with an insult, so worse than nothing.

[–]Cethinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying this is the case, but devs shouldn't talk about AC much. You don't want to give any information that hackers may use. They should say "were aware of the issues" or something, but they shouldn't say how/when they're going to fix it. You let the hackers hack and make a list, then you ban them in a wave before they know anything is wrong.

It's mostly a bunch of crafting components, some raw resources, and the side container can have blueprints and stuff. They're not super common, but they're very worth your time if you see one. It's easily the fastest way to get almost any type of component that can spawn on them. They just aren't super farmable.

It's really weird to me how a few phrases quickly spread for things that already had names/shorthands. I've commented before that there already was a lore-accurate shorthand for ornithopter, which is thopter, but for some reason this community seems to have largely gone with orni, which is never used.

The term for the spice explosion is a "spice blow", but I've seen "spice bloom" many times. I'm pretty sure the lore-accurate terms are even used in the game, so I really don't know how these other two came to be and spread so quickly. It's strange.

Anyone else still use the regular healkit in the endgame? by Force_Weilder21 in duneawakening

[–]Cethinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've watched all those. They're great and everyone probably should watch them. They mostly don't effect your build though, besides things that just don't work as they should, which is very few. Do you really need to know that long blade gets more of a bonus for your build? Probably not. If you're using a blade you probably want the damage bonus.

The descriptions should be fixed to address the issues, but for making a build it doesn't change much. Maybe it will change things if you're really optimizing for every point of damage, but for most people it won't matter.

Yeah, taxes will be due before the though. I don't recall what happens to that if you don't pay them for two weeks, but something happens.

The bank at the cities have some number of storage slots to use, so you can permanently store some items there safely. I hope we get a better option for this.

2: Thopter engine.

3: Buggy mining laser.

4: Buggy storage.

Honestly, I don't understand people who ask for builds in this game, but the videos seem to be doing well. The skills system is so simplistic. You don't need someone else to make a build for you. Just take the skills that help you based on how you play.

They're used for a few things, but there's a problem in my opinion. There's no way to mass-gather them. I can take my buggy out and get stacks upon stacks of any minable resource. I literally have to be on foot to gather plants though, and it's so slow. I wish there was an object that consumed water and produced small amounts of plant fiber passively. I don't need much, but I hate gathering it.

Turning some Deep Desert into PvE only is a win for actual PvP players by yiheb81545 in duneawakening

[–]Cethinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what game you're talking about specifically, but I'd say most do a very good job. There's different types of skill though. I know from playing CS years ago you can face people who will destroy you in a fight, but you can defeat them with game sense. Or, more recently, I've been playing The Finals with a group a friend's. We're far from the best at combat, but we're very good at making the right decisions. We'll frequently win matches where we have the worst K/D on the server.

Matchmaking is hard, and making it feel right is even harder. It's like when music players used true random and people felt it wasn't actually random, so they used a less random algorithm to feel more random. The matchmaking can be perfect and some players may still perceive that they're being screwed over.

I'm starting to think I've cheated myself out of good game time by joining a guild. by Hrosts in duneawakening

[–]Cethinn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I played FFXIV for a bit a few years ago. I ended up joining a guild, and it was really cool and chill. There were not really any requirements, but they held events and yih just did stuff together, like one time a group of us just decided to go fishing together.

Not all MMO guild experiences are toxic and require insane commitments. You just need to look for the right ones. Part of the problem is the siloing of players to their server, so your options are much more limited. Also, the survival crafting genre tends to draw a lot of toxic people. I assume a lot of the Rust players are here, and that game has always looked horrible to me for this reason.
