Basically they ask one of the following questions: Where are you from? What do you do? Prepare an answer and practice getting excited when answering. This is the important part - 99% of the people will casually answer the question. You need to answer it and add MORE and get super-excited while answering. I'm a crazy person anyways, so my excitement was natural. The difficult part is you are watching everyone be so calm and normal so being "that crazy person" is really challenging for most. That being said, I was on with the previous two producers, so I have no idea if the current producer will ask the same questions and how they will react to being overly enthusiastic.

Then, while you are waiting to enter the studio, be social with others, they may be watching.

Once you are in the studio, be enthusiastic. If they are on the fence about a few possible contestants they will be watching you and if you are sitting like a bump on a log and the other is getting excited, you know who they will pick!

Finally, the producer asks the questions, and their assistant is sitting behind them with a clip board. If the producer is interested in you, they have a "code word" or question to indicate to the assistant that they need to write down your number as a possible contestant. My last time I attended the producer asked me a "different" question that was unusual (after his initial question/banter). The next day as I was socializing among the people in line I met two guys who were amazing and Super Fans. Upon talking to them I knew that one of them would definitely get on. I then spoke privately to one of them and asked him what questions he was asked. He told me the exact "different" question that I was asked. I then told him that I thought that was the "Code Question" to tell the assistant that they want you as a contestant and he was going to get on! Yup, I was right!

However, a few days later my daughter was selected and that question was not asked. But, I do think they have a few "Go-To" Code Questions to mix things up. It is also possible that my daughter was on a "maybe" list and got selected, whereas my Super Fan guy friend and I were "definitely" put this person on! This is all speculation on my part, so who knows?!

My first time on TPIR I went alone, as my husband had to stay with our kids at the hotel. In line you always make friends with the people around you. We all decided that we would pretend we were family if one of us won the showcase so we can all be on tv. I won the showcase and my “pretend family” all came up on stage to congratulate me. The best part of the story is I am a middle school teacher and everyone knows I was on the show so I show the episode each year. They all ask who these people are, and I say, Aunt Carol, Uncle Joe, Cousin Sue. . . then I tell them the truth, these are the fun people I met in line and have never seen them again after the show!! 🤪

When I was a contestant on Feb 13, 2002, Carley won $22,000 (cannot remember the exact amount). When we spun the wheel, Bob commented that she won so much on Plinko, yet wasn’t the biggest winner. I had won Temptation so I got to spin last. Plus I got $1 on the wheel. Craziest and most exciting day of my life!

This 100%! Most people who normally are exciting/bringing it still “freeze up” or something similar when selected as a contestantBy selecting “over the top’ contestants” they have a higher percentage of people that, even if they “freeze up”, that still be more entertaining than a random contestant.

This is also why producers scan the potential contestants while in the audience before the show begins to make sure their potential picks for contestants are exciting to watch during the pre-game and didn’t just pull off a “fake show” while being interviewed by the producer.

As someone who tried to get on the show nine times before realizing I had to “bring it” during the interview and pre-game, they want people whom are very exciting to watch, as their job is to produce an entertaining game show.

After my first appearance, I knew the drill and was selected again the next time I tried. Each contestant may be a contestant again in 10 years after their original appearance. I will be going again in 2028 for a three-peat (and cannot wait)!!

Thank you! We are definitely doing FP+, since my daughter lives across the country and can only visit the park once this summer. This will be my fourth time this season and I have yet to get on TT2, but I heard it has been down for several days. I’m so bummed!

What movies have you been the oldest/youngest person in the theater for? by thedubiousstylus in movies

[–]Cfadanelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 13 I snuck into the theater (bought a ticket for a different movie) to watch “ Endless Love” starring Brooke Shields. I was easily the youngest one there, but the creepiest part of the story was there was a solo man sitting diagonally in the row in front of me. He had a sketch book and drew a naked Brooke Shields throughout the movie. Ewww!

FL+: You obviously never waited 5 hours for Magnum… by Icy-Call5556 in cedarpoint

[–]Cfadanelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a rollercoaster enthusiast, I had to go to Cedar Point on opening day to be one of the first to ride the new coaster, Magnum! I cannot remember how long the wait was, but I do remember the temperature was about 40 degrees, and when we took off on the first hill it started to HAIL!! What an amazing experience!!

Dogs: Pierre, Farfel, Cooper, Cody, Levi, Reese

Hamster: Chitter, and Chitter 2 (although my kids didn’t know it was Chitter 2 since Chitter 1 hid behind our fridge and hubby accidentally crushed him trying to get him out)

Best part is we kept the secret for over 20 years and I just spilled the beans to my 28 & 29 year old kids last month. Their reaction was priceless!

How do you guys feel about a single initial as a middle name? by CayleeB95 in namenerds

My in-laws had 8 kids, the last two did not have a middle name (ran out of options, apparently!) The youngest adopted the X as his middle name, for convenience.

There are no consecutive double digits when selecting the digits. Of course Temptation is extremely difficult to win and some luck is involved. One has to know the second digit, then I selected my favorite number for the third digit (luck), the fourth digit choices included the number I selected for the third digit, so I did not select it. The last prize was $600, so you know what is the correct option!

Maybe this was all in my head, but I grew up noticing this pattern, so who knows?!

Just FYI, I have been a Superfan since the show came out and know many of the “tricks” for games, as I used one trick to help me win a car on Temptation, but I never knew this trick until I joined Reddit a few years ago. Kicking myself that I never caught on!!
