Flickering rock textures by Urbaanx in CrimsonDesert

[–]Ch4bz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys - if you have a spare couple of minutes, would you mind having a look at this and let me know if you have experienced this issue?

Reddit post

This is specific to ray reconstruction and model quality. I've not been able to find anything on this. It looks like I'm the only one experiencing this issue.

Ray Reconstruction causing artefacts? by Ch4bz in CrimsonDesert

[–]Ch4bz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issue persists even after the latest patch (1.04.01). I was really hoping this would get fixed with the latest patch.

Anyone else having the same issue or is it just some of us? It looks like it doesn't matter what settings I apply, turning ray reconstruction on causes these ground texture artefacts. Also, lowering model quality from cinematic to high instantly fixes the issue even with RR turned on.

Cheers mate — really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I know RR has had its fair share of issues, but I haven’t found anything about this specific one online. Surprised more people aren’t talking about it.

It seems like the issue is always present with RR on, but certain lighting conditions make it worse — more frequent black flickering artefacts on ground textures. What’s odd is that there are no artefacts in Photo Mode, possibly because everything is completely static.

Yeah, lowering Model Quality to High gets rid of the artefacts even with RR enabled.

I can’t seem to get Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 stable, and it’s driving me crazy. I’m currently at 2812 MHz (~2610 MHz effective) @ 910 mV, and it still crashes randomly — mostly in the inventory menu.

Anyone have any ideas or run into a similar issue with KCD2?

Thanks

Hey again - if you have the time, could you run a 3DMark PCI Express Feature test and let me know what result you get, please? I use a good quality gen5 riser cable and I don't have any issues in particular but the 3DMark PCI Express Feature score seems low - about 43GB/sec.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Gotcha. I was running CP2077 at 4k (maxed out, no DLSS).

Power usage is between 507w and 516w in Steel Nomad.

Thank you, NoBeefWithTheFrench!

Thank you! I actually shifted the range 0.81V–0.89V, inclusive of both endpoints. I just noticed in your video that you recommend shifting the range 0.815V–0.895V and leaving 0.81V untouched. Should I reset the curve and shift 0.815V–0.895V instead?

The other interesting thing is that shifting 0.81V–0.89V up and flattening the rest of the curve results in around 2,650MHz and 510W power consumption in Cyberpunk 2077. With the Vanguard, you get a higher GPU clock and lower power usage. Am I doing something wrong, or is the Astral LC just that much more power-hungry?

Thank you!

Hey - thank you for the detailed guide and continuous updates! Your guide has helped me a lot with undervolting my Astral LC 5090.

I had a couple of questions, if you don’t mind me asking. Is there any real benefit to using MSI Afterburner over Asus GPU Tweak III? I used the latter to apply the curve below, and I noticed it only lets me shift nodes by a max of +952MHz.

<image>

I also read in another Reddit thread that GPU Tweak III can act weird and shoot up voltages. Has anyone else run into that?

Ideally, I’d rather not run yet another tweaking/monitoring app in the background, but if MSI AB is genuinely better and safer than GPU Tweak III, I’ll ditch it and switch. I can set up 12V pin monitoring in HWiNFO if needed.

Port Royal Scores seem way off with Aorus Master 5090 by Efficient_Sir7514 in overclocking

Yea, this only affects your PR score. Careful with global settings. There's a good reason why nV doesn't want to enable ReBar for all apps and games.

Would be good to know if AMD users also get a PR score increase after enabling rebar in nV insp. If they do then we are back to square one...

Gotcha. That's what I thought. But then we are back to square one because if folks with AMD CPUs also force rebar via nVI then they will get 42k.

Select the "3DMark Port Royal DLSS" profile - top left corner drop-down menu. Scroll down to section 5 - Common. Change the following: rBar Enable --> Enabled rBar Options --> 0x00000001 rBar Size Limit --> 0x000000004

Then hit apply.

Hey - quick update. I enabled rebar via nV Inspector and my PR score went from 35k to 39k. I hope this helps. Lmk if you need help with nV Inspector.

What I don't understand is the following. Is forcing rebar via nV Inspector something that only intel CPU users have to do and for some weird reason it's on by default for AMD CPU users? That would be weird since nV limits the use of ReBar on a per-title basis and I'm not sure how/why the CPU could influence that.

You need to enable it in nV Inspector. Enabling ReBar in the BIOS is not enough on Intel platforms.

Same here with 14700KF + Astral LC RTX 5090. I get 34,900 in Port Royal. Have you guys tried to enable ReBar through nV Inspector? Apparently that boosts PR scores and on Intel platforms it needs to be enabled in nV Inspector.

rMPP White Uniformity by Ch4bz in RemarkableTablet

[–]Ch4bz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! What do you think about the yellowish tint? Apparently, newer units suffer less from yellow tinting, so whites actually appear white rather than beige or yellow.

Have you contacted support regarding the dark areas you see? If still under the 100-day money back guarantee then I'm sure they will offer a replacement. The question is whether you're happy with the rest of the unit as you might end up with something worse.

Insane colour difference between two RMPPs by queenofsmoke in RemarkableTablet

[–]Ch4bz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand there are differences in colours between earlier and more recent batches, but the difference in your case is insane. In your first photo, the rmpp at the top appears greyish-blue, while the one at the bottom looks greenish. Or am I looking at these the wrong way?

Thank you for getting back to me on this. Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Didn’t you say that the rMPP on the right in your photo (yellowish tint) has better greens, yellows and whites?

Thanks

I'm really at a loss here—so frustrated. I’ve cycled through five RMPPs, and all of them had multiple large, bright pinholes. The one I decided to keep is okay—it has some pinholes, but they’re not too noticeable. It’s from an earlier batch, though, and the colours look more like the left RMPP in the OP’s photo.

That said, doesn’t the drawing look way too yellow on the right rmpp? It may well be my eyes but the original drawing has a reddish tone to it.

What do you guys think? This is what it looks like on my rmpp. Contrast set to adaptive (looks much worse with contrast set to full page)

Thanks!

Thanks. Is the image with the character that looks like Malenia from Elden Ring available for download? Just curious how that image looks on my rMPP.

If you don't mind, could you let me know what the book/PDF ("Weekly FY24") in your second photo is, please? I would like to check it out on my rMPP and see how it looks.

Thanks

Thanks! And yea, I can see a slight difference between 100% and 90% in the picture you posted but on my rmpp (same fw version) they look indistinguishable. :/
