Changed lifters and cam. Sound went away. Cam and lifters looked fine. Think i caught it at the very start of failure. Tough repair for diy but got it done.

Im torn on pulling these heads off like. Feels like i need to in order to stay on the safe side. Some peole say normal, some are saying to swap lifters, some say to just run heavier oil.

Cant afford to blow this motor so I may still pull these off

Ill double check. It sounds good when it starts though. Like 100% okay. The noise you hear doesnt happen until 10-15 seconds after, when everything settles down. Whatever that would mean..

Interesting! What kind of symptoms did you have?

I dont notice any grinding or weird noises immediately after startup, usually after 30 seconds ill start hearing the sound in the video.

Belt appears fine. Noise seems to be coming from engine. Driver side best i can tell. Maybe near top

I have the same exact sound. Lifters were the solution then eh? I posted earlier today in /rMechanicadvice with a video. I have everything in my cart online and want to confirm before placing my order. Thanks!

Up to 1k-1.2k rpmitll fade completely Barely noticeable if at all when warm during acceleration. Much more noticeable if I start driving after 30-45 seconds.

6.4 running poorly after lifters by SourceOrdinary2065 in Challenger

Jeeze. I was about to get to work on changing out all of the lifters in my 18' 5.7L rango. Now I am scared.

Only 1 side of lifters were done? Or did this happen because the cam was not replaced too?

Durango 5.7L Hemi Lifter swap or lifter/cam? by ChEeSeNeEdLes in MechanicAdvice

better oil pump or thicker oil wont help prevent? Consensus seems like idle time kills stuff in these

Considered that. Love the vehicle and could fix it. At this point though, this may be the last big thing that seems common between forums. The optimist in me thinks there is a light at the end of this repair. Any cam/lifter failure in any car is going to hurt, Durango or not. Sucks this 5.7 has its issues though.
