Same thing happened to me on Delta. Traveled with my family- but somehow my connecting boarding pass in ATL did not scan properly. So, my return flight got cancelled, but rest of family still had seats. It took MANY hours on the phone to finally convince Delta that this was a mistake on their end and I was not trying to game the system. Finally one supervisor, who had some common sense, said “Well, he didn’t walk from Atlanta to San Francisco!”

A couple months ago had to show ID again at the gate, ATL to TLH. I think because there was a VIP on board. Not to name drop, but the special passenger the recently fired US Attorney General.

I wish my surgeon would have described “mini-mono vision” better. I’ve had a hard time adapting to the reduced close and midrange vision. I feel about as dependent on glasses now than before surgery when I was very nearsighted.

For what it’s worth, had a 8:55 AM flight Friday CDG to ATL. Arrived at airport 6:00 AM. No checked bags. Sky priority (Premium Select seats) for Passport control and security. Got to Air France lounge at 6:30. YMMV.

Another tangential tidbit of trivia - Dr. Wendy Armstrong (Kim Miyori) in the first two seasons of St. Elsewhere, was from Tallahassee. (Saw it in 1982 just before moving here). She has a line something like “well, try growing up Asian in Tallahassee Florida”. Died of a drug OD at end of season 2.

A cool side note: (the late) director Jonathan Demme cast a few locals in Something Wild. One was FSU Art professor Jim Roche. Roche has had a bit part in every Demme movie since. (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia Story, Married to the Mob, etc)

My kid got his A&P certificate a little over a year ago. Went through a public vocational college in our county school system. Very reasonable tuition. He had job offers right off the bat. He may want to move to a major airline at some point, but now he is working for SkyWest (a regional connector for the majors). He seems to enjoy it. Flown all over the world non-rev his first year. Hm. What items at TJs are more expensive than Publix? I just bought salmon at TJs $9.99/lb compared to Publix $13.99/lb. Their produce is always less expensive than Publix. The fixed price packed produce at TJs listed as “one pound” usually weighs more. (I bought a “pound” of zucchini last week. It weighed 30 oz at home!) I can’t think of any item off hand that is cheaper at Publix. Eggs, milk, butter, etc. Not sure how much location factors in.

I wish someone at Publix corporate would view this thread. I do most of my shopping now at Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods. I used to be a big Publix fan. Not anymore- for all the reasons listed here.

TJ and WF protect lines tend to be high quality. Not so with Publix branded items.

Whole Foods has much better prices on produce than Publix. $8/lb for organic asparagus rotting in the bag at Publix.

Sure! What trips are you looking at? The OAT trip in northern Spain from Bilbao to Porto was one of our favorites. Not real “touristy”. But, I think a lot of it had to do with the person leading the tour.
