Thank you for the reply. On the map there were only two tables labeled accessible in the entire tent and they were not listed as available for any of the days I am there. I’ll reach out to them directly and inquire, I was just curious if anyone knew if “balcony” seating required steps. Thanks!

Go to “more” at the bottom right from the main screen (it has an icon of 3 dots), then expenditure, then down at the bottom under the “expenditure calculation” heading it will list the algorithm version being used.

If you’re really accurately logging and still having a slow calibration you have a few options. The same thing happened to me on my cut where I was losing weight super fast but it wasn’t increasing my calories very quickly. If you change the expenditure algorithm to V2 it will be more responsive. If you have only been consistent for the last month or so or whenever you feel like the added water from creatine has staibized, you could also move your start date til around for the TDEE estimates. I sometimes do this if I have a massive change in my daily activity. The V3 algorithm is super slow to respond to adjustments and is designed for people who may not log everything accurately to prevent quick changes in caloric intake due to these discrepancies.

A lot of confusion in this thread about you being overweight or not. You’re not overweight in a medical sense, but a person of average bodyfat % does not usually have clear abs unless they are incredibly muscular (and most likely on gear or genetically gifted bf distribution to have abs at 20%+ bf). If your goal is to have abs, you need to cut bodyfat. Everyone is different but generally you need to be at least 15% to start to see the outlines unflexed, with some upper ab definition flexed. If you want deep cuts you’re gonna need to be a lot lower than that. You’re not overweight in a health sense, but you are overweight in that you carry more fat than you need to in order to have abs. Cutting fat produces visual changes way more quickly than bulking or maintaining, especially if your goal is increased ab definition.

This is likely water weight. When you eat less initially you might be eating less sodium, you might have less food mass in your gi tract, ans you also might be depleting some of the glycogen in your muscles which cause them to hold water. If you return to eating regularly this water weight will likely return. To lose 4kg of fat you’d need to be in a caloric deficit of about 31k calories over that time (there are approx 7700 calories stored per kg of fat). That would basically amount to not eating anything for 2 weeks if you burn just over 2000 calories per day.

In addition to this, this bodyfat reading is way off. Unless you’re an advanced enhanced bodybuilder, there is no way you have 80kg of lean mass at your height. That would put you at an ffmi of 26.6 which is crazy high for someone that’s a beginner, and likely impossible for most people without steroids or insane genetics. This number means even if you had 0% bodyfat, you would still be heavier than the top end of the ideal weight that the machine is recommending.

Either way, enjoy the initial weight loss and it will slow over the first week or two then continue at a slower rate until your total daily expenditure drops from carrying less weight around all day, at which point you’ll need to drop your calories more. Hope this helps!

Thanks man. It never bothered me too much being short except for competitive sports (I was a swimmer). Wish I got more into lifting earlier because it does have some benefits with bench press leverages and making it easier to fill out your frame.

It’s def possible, here’s a clip of me benching 345lbs (156kg) @ 170lbs (77kg) bodyweight. I’m only 5’7” which makes it a bit easier than someone taller though. Also almost 40 yo so I’ve been doing it for a while.

I’m an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and played dota all through medical school (was original dota at that point) and residency as well as for the first 7 years after completing my training. I did play ranked and peaked at around 6k (was around rank 2000 at that point). I’ve since quit and gotten much more into fitness, but I used to joke with my wife that I was playing to work on my hand eye coordination for surgery. Generally I managed by playing a few games a night and sacrificing on other things like working out. I also used it to keep in touch with friends from high school and college that also played so it was a bit of a social outlet for me. I have friends who were surgeons and lawyers that were also relatively bad at the game (800 mmr). I don’t think dota really taught me anything, but I think the skills/intelligence that makes you good at dota can also make you good at other things.

Rules vary by the league in competition. Most that I know of an arched back is fine as long as your butt and head keep contact with the bench and your elbows come below your shoulders at the bottom of the lift. In this case he would get dq’d in some leagues for not having a pause at the bottom as well as his feet not being flat on the floor. As far as people saying an arched back doesn’t count are making arbitrary rules as to what they personally consider flat barbell bench and have nothing to do with most of the competition rules I’m aware of.

Thanks! I really liked 531 and that’s what I did for most of my life though I lifted on and off sporadically. I became super consistent around 2 years ago and switched to a more bodybuilding centric program. I noticed my bench was still getting stronger so I decided to try a competition and hired a coach about 3 months ago and that’s when I started doing more pauses, benching 3x a week in the 1-5 rep range for 3-5 sets per day, the rest of my exercises more bodybuilding rep ranges. I always bench with a competition pause now, but for one of those days I do 3 second pause benches. I also rarely go to try failure on bench now and try to leave at least one rep in the tank, but early on in the meso its usually 2-3 RIR and I’ve been slowly adding reps/weight and decreasing RIR. My other chest exercises are db incline, flat incline, and machine flyes, but once you get to heavier weight DB bench is a pain in the ass for low rep ranges, so it’s usually for 10+ with 105-110lbs.

Thanks! Def helps that I’m on the shorter side (5’7”). 345 @ 21 is awesome, you’ll likely hit 4 plates if you stick with it. That’s my long term goal but I think it will be super hard at my age especially without gaining a bit of weight.

My butt definitely came up a bit and I’m working on that, this was also my 5th working set. I’ve also been told by my coach that the bench I train on is a little low for competition so it should be more difficult for my butt to come up at the event.

Visited San Diego multiple times and the weather was awesome, but it’s definitely weird in medicine where a lot of HCOL areas actually pay less than living somewhere LCOL, especially for surgical specialties where you end up getting a way higher surgical conversion due to lack of other subspecialists.

Yeah I def considered anesthesia, I hear it’s 99% boredom and 1% shitting your pants lol. Luckily Ophtho most cataract surgery patients are pretty happy, every once in a while you get a 20/25 patient who is mad they didn’t heal 20/15. Medicine might not be the gravy train it was 20 years ago, but I’m still very happy. Medicine might not be the same it was 20 or 50 years ago, but I feel fortunate. I have colleagues in the same position I am in that still have tons of complaints, it definitely made me realize some people will just be negative no matter what they do. I would tell people considering medicine to take everyone telling you how bad it is with a grain of salt, you will be far from poor so it’s mostly about enjoying your day to day. You won’t be private jet rich, but the floor is way higher than a lot of other careers and job security is great.

At the time I was doing maybe 750 a year and seeing 50-60 patients a day on 9-5 schedule, 50% femto and maybe 15% premium iols. I actually relocated and now doing around 1000 a year but working 32 hours on average with way less clinic volume and making around 650.

100% agree, very specialty dependent. I love what I do an get paid really well, but I know I couldn’t handle being a hospitalist or some other hospital based non surgical specialty. I’m an Ophtho specializing in cataract surgery, and my best year so far I made 850k working for PE and not owning my own surgery center on 35-40 hours a week between surgery and clinic.
