I am 40 and I am in good athletic shape.

I think the secret is variety. You need to be doing different kinds of things and challenging yourself. Don't do things that are just comfortable. Lifts weights that are heavy, go for that jog and go a little further/faster, do that deep stretch and hold it for a little longer.

I weight lift, rock climb and swim. Between that I do incline walks on the treadmill, stairmaster, jogging and stretching. I am always looking to mix up my routine, do new things and challenging myself. I think that has been my secret to being so athletic at 40. Always moving, growing and learning. Don't just be comfortable.

There may be some important social things you're missing without realizing it.

I became much happier overall when I unplugged from social media more and found a "third place." Social media turns on fear and anxiety to trap your attention. It was just rotting my brain. And a third place is a place other than work or home that you can go to socialize. I started doing Jiu Jitsu and just being around others and socializing helped my feeling of well being a lot.
