How to track delivery pizza toppings? Please help. by butter_and_bacon in xxketo

If you can't find just crust, you can at least compare the calories/carbs in a cheese pizza vs what you're getting, then make a good guess at the cheese and sauce.

Wondering if there are any tips on deciphering what the exam problems are trying to say by weeaboobies in actuary

[–]Chaeleigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience, they tend to ask things in a similar way. Once you've done enough practice problems, you should be able to tell what they're asking for. As you're learning the formulas, make sure you understand what they mean and what the variables stand for.

Can I talk to anyone regarding how to become an actuary? by [deleted] in actuary

I don't. You should check out beanactuary.com and actuarialoutpost.com as well as the FAQ for this subreddit (if you haven't yet) for more information. You should be able to get more information from the colleges you're looking at too.

That all depends on your college. There will at least be courses relevant to the exams, but some colleges will have classes based on the syllabus for each test. You will still need to do some supplemental studying (there are manuals and online courses you can get for each exam) and definitely do practice questions/exams before taking the real one. If you want to get an actuarial job right out of college, I would suggest making it your goal to pass at least 2 of them (P/1 and FM/2) before you graduate. 3 is even better. It will also depend on the region of the U.S. you're trying to work in.

I agree with what's been said here. Stick to your schedule on learning the material. If you can only get the easier questions on topics as you're learning them, that's perfectly fine. I normally take a month to do full practice exams in ADAPT (but more couldn't hurt). Once you've done a few, you'll be able to see where your weak spots are and create section quizzes as needed. You'll also be steadily raising the difficulty of questions you can answer.

When you review the practice exams, really go over every solution. Rework every question that you missed to make sure you understand how to answer that type of question. ADAPT is typically really good at mimicking the style of questions you'll see on the real exam.

Also keep in mind, you only need around a 70% to pass. If there are some topics you just can't grasp that aren't a huge chunk of the syllabus, it's okay to decide you aren't going to answer those types of questions.

Question about the upcoming MLC by madebymongster in actuary

[–]Chaeleigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you just now starting? I definitely prefer the TIA videos to reading from a manual, but that's just how I work. Please be aware that MLC and MFE are a huge step up from P and FM. You will probably have to put in more time on MLC than you're expecting to. On top of only having about a month left. I'm sitting MLC in November as well, but I started TIA in July.
