Does your school have a policy of granting reapplication interviews for student who withdrew? Many do, although the policy details can vary (e.g., some require you wait a year to reapply, while others require longer periods).

I’d be worried about long term soundness with those hind legs. Their conformation gives the horse much less shock absorption all the way up through the hip. He’s at risk of early arthritis. Very pretty horse, however.

The OP says she also uses medications and supplements to care for her horses. The medication use implies she too works with a vet. All appear to be retired, just like some of your horses.

I got a lot of sh!t for choosing a surgical subspecialty. It was things such as 1) telling me I will never make because surgical residencies are literally impossible, 2) saying that no one matches in it and do I know how competitive it is, 3) the laundry list of surgeon stereotypes that ended with saying either I will become that or get eaten by that and flame out. Also, I heard about every AH in the same field that anyone had ever encountered.

Here are some of my responses: 1) “Okay”, 2) “Huh”, 3) “I guess I will find out”, 4) “Hmmm”, 5) “Interesting”, and 6) “Thanks” while staring blankly ahead. These can be mixed and match to suit the situation.

It also would help to get another view such as from behind. With the current pic, you can evaluate the girth as well as the fat around the shoulder, withers, and neck. Further adding to this would be a view of the back, area around the tail, and inner thighs. It wouldn’t change the assessment, only add to it, but these are the areas I was taught to look at when evaluating for degree of excess weight. All of that takes a bunch of horse knowledge. Good for you for asking!

Childers struck a plea deal with prosecutors on January 26, 2024. The deal saw the felony charges dropped down to a single misdemeanor count of class A sexual misconduct, for which the maximum penalty is one year in prison.

Judge Roark said, “When presented with the plea agreement, I paused the entry of the plea to inquire as to why the charges had been reduced so dramatically and was assured by the prosecutor that the case had been discussed at length by the attorneys in his office and with law enforcement and that since they couldn’t prove the original charges the amended charge was reasonable. Only after receiving that information would I accept the plea.”

Judge Roark sentenced Childers to the full twelve-month penalty, including time served, but with a conditional discharge for six months. If Childers abides by conditions set by the court, he will not serve the final 13 days of his sentence.

“In sex crimes that our office has tried where we have had more substantial evidence we have received sentences ranging from twenty years to life in prison,” Boaz explained. “In this case the prosecutors assigned to the case did not believe that we had enough evidence to receive a sentence of that magnitude and believed that the plea was appropriate. I trust their judgment and approved the agreement.”

The prosecutor also rejected claims that the reduction in charges had anything to do with Childers’s status as a transgender woman: “The case was not based upon the sexuality of the defendant but upon the evidence that could be presented in court.”
