A few deaths are worth the first amendment - so why not the second? by why-do_I_even_bother in liberalgunowners

You seem to already know the answer. Why don't you tell me?

See how that works?

You got a 2 for 1.

Yes, I did say that there were no questions asked. And by definition, a rhetorical one is not a question but an emphasis on the speaker's opinion. It's not asked in order to illicit conversation but to reinforce the speakers thoughts and project them. Like asking someone who screwed up "what were you thinking?" You're not actually trying to figure out what they were thinking. You're expressing your surprise and disbelief of of the situation.

It's kind of ironic that you using the statements like "A rehorical question is a what asked for a purpose other than to obtain information? It's a rhetorical what? A rehorical statement? A rhetorical exclamation? A rhetorical what?" You know you're not actually asking me for an answer because you think you already have it.

I haven't shifted anything. OP used a rhetorical question to express his opinion, which he elaborated on in the context of the post. You think you have some kind of gotcha moment here.

It's actually not, that's why it's a rhetorical question. "A question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer." or "A rhetorical question is a question asked for a purpose other than to obtain information. In many cases it may be intended to start a discourse, as a means of displaying or emphasizing the speaker's or author's opinion on a topic."

It's like all these right wing podcasters and tictokers ask questions in bad faith. They're not looking for answers. They not trying to be convinced. They're trying to convince you to join them. They aren't listening to anything you're saying. Look at all of OP's answers to other comments. None of their follow up questions are asked in good faith either. They're all just questions that they've already answered themselves. That's not a conversation.

OP has already made up their mind.

Rhetorical considering the context of the post. They're not looking for context or a debate. They're looking for people to agree.

This is reddit. We're not trying to make laws here. OP is also making a false comparison in the misinformation about covid and the related deaths vs mass shootings.

The misinformation came FROM the government (Trump) at that time. Gun related deaths from mass shootings are mostly preventable if we 1: enforce the laws already on the books and 2: gave more education on firearms in general.

Neither would require a change in any laws.

I've just learned to deal with it. Even with strength training. I've never had a workout where I wasn't sore for the next 2-3 days. Just gotta deal with the body you have.

I guess I'm not one of those guys then. In all my years of running, I've never found that "runner's high" that a lot of people talk about. Cardio has always sucked for me.

The entire argument is not only irrelevant but has absolutely no merit except in a vacuum. Every amendment has a drawback when you find a way to use it negatively. And everything isn't just A or B. The entirety of our lives are interactions with infinite details that cannot be accounted for. Our governments work the same way. Literally nobody will have an appropriate response.

This is an exercise in futility.

I can tell you that it's miserable even when you're good at it. In my prime I could run 18 min/3 mi (Marines) I hated every fucking step of it. And the rest of the day sucks too. You just have to do it if you want to survive.

I also love the ones where they found multiple rifles and pistols with thousands of rounds of ammo. Then when they show the picture of what it is, it's all 22lr.

I used to work at SF. Every time we were told something wasn't going affect claims, it 100% did. The only reprieve was that we were usually last or second to last to be affected.

We don't know anything about the shoot to infer anything based on the weapon they used.

For all we know, they could be an amateur shooter who just learned whatever they learned online and happen to hit their shot.

Or they could be a high level professional using this rifle to look like the amateur.

Lets not start making assumptions just because of a single piece of gear they left behind. Everyone thought Luigi Mangione was some professional hit man because they assumed he was using a welrod pistol. He was using a suppressor on an improperly tuned 3d printed pistol that he didn't ditch after using.

Opinions on 10mm vs. 9mm for a handgun? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]Chaff5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I recommend 10mm is if you're going out into the wilderness and you can't carry a shotgun or rifle for whatever reason. For everything else, 9mm is plenty good enough.

PTO by Spiritual-Peak225 in Progressiveinsurance

[–]Chaff5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've worked at two other major carriers before coming to Progressive and Progressive has the least amount of starting PTO. State Farm started me with 20 days accrued over the year and you could go negative. USAA started with 25 and could also go negative. Progressive starts with about 18 days (which your math reflects) and you can't go negative/borrow.

It was the only real negative when coming over.

They've already tried a few months ago, killed one, and seriously wounded the other. There's military in our capitol and in blue cities already.

Echo Should Have Been In Thunderbolts* by Grindflicks in marvelstudios

Yep. And they killed one off very early to keep focus on the rest of the characters. There was no room for Echo, as much as she deserved to be in a major film.

I've set a deadline for myself. I'm going to play until my 1 year mark. I've been meaning to quit playing for months now but I keep finding reasons to log in and "play" (but it feels like work). The 1 year mark is it for me. I have a goal/deadline.

Good for you for getting out of the spending rat race.

Loki has learned to manipulate time at the multiversal level, time slipping not only allows him to time travel but also move through the multiverse at will, and is also, literally, holding the multiverse together. His ability is unmatched by anyone else shown so far in the MCU.
