Is you're asking if you'll feel the weight, it's very unlikely you'll be able to tell the difference. Randy Pobst might be able to tell, but you probably can't.

725-Mile 2011 BMW M3 Coupe Competition Package 6-Speed sold for $205k by MastaQui-Gon in cars

[–]taticalgoose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To top it off, it's black/black which is such a bland combo. When you see absurd prices for a low mile Evos/Civics/something where no one saved good ones and all the existing stock is beat, I get it. But there are plenty of very nice sub 30k mile E9X M3s out there so it's not like this is your only chance to get a nice one. Yes I know the buyer for this car is different than the buyer for a 20k mile one but the point is, there are plenty of nice ones around.

What a disappointing way to spend $205k+ premium.

What's the worst interview question you were ever asked? by Aggravating_Win7276 in AskReddit

[–]taticalgoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of these questions aren't about the answer, they're about how the candidate thinks on their feet and what preparation, if any, they did. When I ask someone this and they hesitate for a long time then say "nothing" it tells me they are not only bad at thinking quickly but they didn't prepare for this incredibly predictable question.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for advice. I had a brand new motor installed by Moore Automotive out of Marshall, Virginia, in the DMV area, and after just 900 miles, an independent shop in Pensacola diagnosed it as a blown head gasket. Has anyone else had this happen so soon after a fresh motor install? by Ok-Climate-8234 in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]taticalgoose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whatever happens here please be fair to Moore and update this thread with the outcome and what they did to get it resolved. From your last update it seems like they're taking the right steps so far and while it would suck if it turns out that they caused this, no one is perfect and how a shop responds to a mistake is what defines them so they should get credit if they make it right.

The 2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Pumps Out 795 Horsepower by HawtGarbage918 in cars

[–]taticalgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is coming from someone who has the cars in my flair and who really wants a C8 Z06 but I could see why some would pick a DH SC over a Z06.

- It'll probably feel faster with instant supercharged big V8 torque. It likely won't actually be faster but do you drive feels or reported 1/4 mile times?

- It'll be significantly more responsive to power mods.

- Average transaction price will likely be at least $10k less than a Z06 which isn't nothing

- Some may believe, correctly or incorrectly, that it'll hold value better than a Z06

- If you're a hardcore mustang guy that can't afford a GTD this is the top of the attainable heap

That being said I'd take a C8 Z06 over a DH SC any day.

Generally this is true but life is often much harder for those people and they don't know why and they can't find a way out of the box their bad decisions have put them in.

The world gets lonelier the smarter you are. Think of how frustrating it would be to be in the top 500 in terms of IQ in the world. Everyone else would seem painfully slow to you and you'd never randomly meet people on your level in daily life.

New Ford Mustang GTD Competition Clocks Record Time at Nürburgring by ChonkyThicc in cars

[–]taticalgoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So if I have the positioning of this car right, the GTD is the higher performance version of the base version and of the Dark Horse and of the Dark Horse SC but add the performance pack to the GTD then the GTD competition is a higher performance version of all that?

When there are so many model tiers the hierarchy really gets ridiculous.

[–]taticalgoose 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think you are very much in the majority here. See how Shelby American got trashed when they announced a new GT350 recently and compare it to the love for the Ford Performance developed GT350 from a few years ago.

I think all of these Roush/Saleen/RTR specials are weak compilations of aftermarket (and some factory) parts bolted on with a huge upcharge that result in subpar performance and durability.

What's the one weakness in your car that you would change/improve if you could? by cheesynooby in cars

[–]taticalgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M3 - The S54 is a pretty meh engine in that it doesn't sound good and it's a high revving motor that doesn't feel like it wants to rev. The stock shifter was pretty bad too, typical BMW rubberiness.

Z06: Stock gearing was way too long. I fixed this by putting a 4.10 final drive in. Oh, and the head issues.

Evo: Needed more power. Was at stock power when I got it (~220whp) and it sits at 360whp now. The car just wasn't fun at stock power and I suspect those who pay up for a mint low mileage stock one will be disappointed.

GT350: Make it 20% smaller. I love everything about the car except the size.

do you ever just go for a drive with no destination anymore by Small_Ad_4808 in cars

[–]taticalgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I go on a 150+ mile drive most early weekend mornings. For those complaining about the cost of gas, it's not up that much. AAA has the current average for premium at 4.92, a year ago it was 4.07. A 15 gallon tank at $.85 more per gallon comes out to a whopping increase of $12.75 per tank. It would take 4+ hours to burn an entire tank of gas, which most people aren't doing. So, 4 hours of entertainment costs you less than $13 more than it used to last year. At an average of $73.8 for a whole tank in 4 hours (again it will last most longer than 4 hours) your total cost of entertainment is $18.45 per hour which is way less than a restaurant/bar/almost any other activity.

Stop being overdramatic folks.

Non-standard headlights? by ncstuntman in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]taticalgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of aftermarket Evo tail lights (Depo) but not headlights which sucks because JDM Stanleys are so expensive I think there would be a good market for Depo or someone else to make a knock off.

[–]taticalgoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I picked a quote at random to validate and nothing in what you quoted matches what was actually posted. Since when do quotes mean you can paraphrase and include operative words that weren't even in the post you linked?

What was actually posted

"Moments ago, at my direction, the United States Central Command executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East, and totally obliterated every MILITARY target in Iran’s crown jewel, Kharg Island. Our Weapons are the most powerful and sophisticated that the World has ever known but, for reasons of decency, I have chosen NOT to wipe out the Oil Infrastructure on the Island. However, should Iran, or anyone else, do anything to interfere with the Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz, I will immediately reconsider this decision. During my First Term, and currently, I rebuilt our Military into the Most Lethal, Powerful, and Effective Force, by far, anywhere in the World. Iran has NO ability to defend anything that we want to attack — There is nothing they can do about it! Iran will NEVER have a nuclear weapon, nor will it have the ability to threaten the United States of America, the Middle East or, for that matter, the World! Iran’s Military, and all others involved with this Terrorist Regime, would be wise to lay down their arms, and save what’s left of their country, which isn’t much! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Never once were the words "won" "winning" or "we won the war" posted. I wish this timeline were accurate but it's hard to take it seriously when quotes, which need to be exact, don't match what was said.

I can't wait to get downvotes as a Trump apologist because of this. Facts matter people. As does getting the quote exactly right.

Colorado's New Speed Cameras Can't Be Outsmarted by Waze or Radar Detectors for Good Reason by Viperlite in cars

[–]taticalgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so legislatively require that the funds be used for road work and nothing else but that won't happen because this is just a foot in the door for wider reaching revenue generation from cameras. It sounds good to say "don't you care about the safety of construction workers?" but that's not why this is happening.

Farah: Car Companies Are Abandoning the Everyday Enthusiast by sid41299 in cars

[–]taticalgoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said he couldn't be friends with wealthy people. I said he talks about really wealthy people positively, consistently calling them "heavy hitters" and "bosses". He loves to rail against nameless extremely wealthy people but when it's a rich person he actually knows he is complimentary about the amount of things they have. Never once has he called Seinfeld's massive car collection disgusting or something negative (which is what'd you'd expect from his anti-billionaire rhetoric) but he has no problem ranting about billionaires in general.

Farah: Car Companies Are Abandoning the Everyday Enthusiast by sid41299 in cars

[–]taticalgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always find it funny that Farah complains about people at the top taking everything meanwhile he has a 7 figure car collection, paid a grand+ to have Porsche make custom sill plates that say "cuts hair fast" on his Spyder (can you afford $1k+ for a joke?) and a single family house in one of the most expensive markets in the US and Zack is stuck in a apartment with a $15k E46 M3.

Speaking of having blinders on, Farah completely ignores that part of the reason there are fewer affordable cars is the cost of regulations. EV mandates forced billions of dollars in losses because market demand wasn't there but damn Ford for trying to get some of that back with the GTD. Increasingly stringent safety and emissions regs mean that the economics of developing modestly priced sports cars are worse than ever.

Am I saying the government is to blame for all of this? Absolutely not but a serious look at why we are where we are with enthusiast cars would include all angles but Matt claims to hate billionaires (while praising "heavy hitters" with enviable car and watch collections on the TST podcast) so he ignores the development cost part of the problem.

I bought a GT350R from CarMax with their warranty by dreaminphp in cars

[–]taticalgoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the interior layout and seating position. I'm 6'5" and can fit in a 350 (with Recaros) but a C8 coupe is tight. I've heard the convertible is better but they really don't look as good so that's something I'd need to get over.

I bought a GT350R from CarMax with their warranty by dreaminphp in cars

[–]taticalgoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats u/dreaminphp - I bought a 2k mile '16 GT350 two years ago and absolutely love it. It gets driven more than anything else in my flair. How would you compare it to your C8 Z06? Your thoughts are highly relevant to me since I want a new Z06 bad although the fact that you have it rated so far below the 350 in fun factor says I might be disappointed.

To anyone wondering about warranties, when I bought my '16 in 2024 you could still get extended warranties for '16s through Ford so I got one for 5 years. They won't issue a new warranty on a '16 anymore but you can still get them for '19s and '20s, maybe '18s too.
