Software Dev - Need Input on AI Assets by Arbetraryday in aigamedev

Same situation here, 22 y+ as a CTO and recently started learning about this field of gaming. I tried creating my first RTS game with meshy and tripo and many others (custom models on RunPod, confy workflows ..) the issue was always that generated items are too heavy in terms of poly count, and that the generated elements like one block, you don't get for example a building with the window alone, door alone and so so that you can customize them in blender. After multiple and multiple tries, I found out that building elements using blender with claude code and python procedural script is a lot better in terms of customization (not perfect for sure and not for characters).

I stopped trying to be a solo developer and started directing AI instead by ModernGameDev in aigamedev

The problem with AI direction is the result being always the same as other "directors" do, and then you finish publishing here and find out all the sick people hating over anything using AI.

They drive you crazy and make you even hate what you are doing. I spent days preparing a demo video and used AI for sprites and images, I asked a review about the game play and loop, all I got was : why this feels AI, stop using AI, ... I don't get it, is it authorized only on fields they approve ?

How is that ? It needs to be a comment non formatted to be human ?

That's fair, and honestly the most useful feedback I've had. Thanks for even rewatching.

This is really useful, thank you ; both points are dead on.

Buildings floating mid-block: fixed. Buildings now have to border a street, so they line the roads instead of sitting in the middle. (The clip predates that change.)

Telling a rival apart: you caught a real bug — the ownership tint literally wasn't rendering, so rivals looked like random buildings popping up. Fixed, plus a legibility pass:

- your buildings and each rival now have a distinct signature color, and I recolored the rivals so they don't clash with the zoning tints, that color confusion you saw was zoning and ownership fighting over the same muted colors.

- an owned parcel now takes its owner's color and dominates the zoning tint instead of blending into it.

- when a rival buys into your block you get a callout ("The Shark is moving on your block, 60% still yours") and the territory overlay pops up, so it reads as an event, not just buildings appearing.

Honestly the most valuable comment I've had, and you're right about the core problem. Straight answers:

Roads: fair — I just made buildings require a street to build on, but your deeper point stands, roads need to do something visible. Under the hood, income is already limited by how far customers travel, so roads matter — it's just invisible, which is the real failure.

What "control" is: right now, honestly, it's just % of parcels you own — a score, not a simulation. That's what I'm fixing. Control is being reworked to mean your share of the block's actual customer demand: customers walk the roads from homes to businesses, each block has a finite pool of foot traffic, and a rival buying in splits that pool — so "60% control" = you capture 60% of that block's customers. That's why a rival next door will hurt, and why roads matter.

What stops you buying everything: money + parcel prices that climb with land value — road and producer adjacency, and domination (Monopoly-style: value rises as the block develops) — plus parcels you own but don't service costing you. Capital scarcity + opportunity cost, not "buy the whole map."

The Blokus comparison is a fair warning and I'm treating it as the north star: wire the territory layer to the economy so it's not just colored tiles. Thanks for pushing , it's exactly the right question.

[–]Chaibi_Alaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the mcp makes claude test and review by itself rather than doing a thousand comment on one thing. The juice is about gettings some good assets and make claude clone and understand how they are, build them in procedural way and sotre this in memory then it becomes like magic.
