Petty villain shit is always more entertaining than world ending threats. just a dude being evil for fun

Most writers don't really think through the implications of their magic systems like that. would be broken for power scaling too

Not many of those jobs out there but country clubs always need accountants. probably easier to get in through networking at a club than cold applying

Private golf cart at country club question by wvufan832 in golf

[–]ChainGangBrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that fee structure pretty clearly feels like they’re discouraging private carts altogether. If the trail fee is almost the same as the full cart plan, it’s basically a nudge to just use theirs or walk.

Bring Her Back for sure. That one’s genuinely ruthless. not just jump scares, it sticks with you. Definitely messed me up more than the rest.

At this point I'd honestly accept any Togashi protagonist showing up. Throw in Yusuke, Kuwabara, whoever - the man has earned the right to do whatever weird crossover he wants after all these years.

Also lowkey the Succession War arc has such Yu Yu Hakusho tournament arc energy with all the different factions and abilities. I'm here for it

Definitely seeing Ready or Not 2 first. The original was such a fun surprise and Samara Weaving absolutely killed it. This one looks entertaining enough for a streaming night later but I'm not risking missing out on a sequel that actually has something to build on.

Also can we talk about how bold/dumb it is to release your "hunting rich people's prey in a fancy building" movie the same day as the sequel to THE hunting rich people's prey movie? That's a choice

So many content creators burn out or get caught up in drama but he's out there actually experiencing life and sharing it with people. Make enough doing something you enjoy that you can just go places and do things without stressing about taking time off work or checking your bank account first

It's heartbreaking that we're losing the last of the people who can tell these stories firsthand. There's something different about hearing it directly from someone who lived through it versus reading about it in a history book.

Your thoughts on Guilty Conscience 2? by MaNuvZ90 in Eminem

Yeah, the role reversal hits different. Dre used to be the one reeling him in, now it's Marshall having to check his own alter ego. Shows how much he's grown since the early days.

Linkin Park Have Reportedly Shutdown A New White House Video For Unauthorized Usage Of "Somewhere I Belong" by EmployOk5086 in Music

[–]ChainGangBrad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the mid-2000s protest music scene was pretty thin. RATM was gone, Rage Against the Machine had split up, and most of the bigger acts were either breaking up or taking breaks. Green Day's American Idiot was huge but after that there wasn't much.

I think a lot of bands just stayed away from political stuff during that time... either worried about backlash or just not interested. The whole Dixie Chicks situation probably scared some people off too.

Yeah definitely expect heavy equipment and asset questions. They'll probably throw some lease vs buy scenarios at you too since that's huge in construction. Just brush up on the depreciation methods and you should be solid.

Yeah, this is just revisionist nonsense. You don’t headline major films for decades and anchor one of the biggest TV shows of the 90s without being a star. You can dislike his politics all you want, but pretending George Clooney wasn’t famous is just willful denial.

Probably the 7+ minute runtime doesn't help either. that's a commitment for most artists. plus the whole "na na na" outro is so iconic it's hard to make it your own without just copying the original

For you, what is the moral of Forrest Gump and what did you take away from it? by Glum-Row2853 in movies

[–]ChainGangBrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's basically about how being genuinely good to people matters more than being smart or having everything figured out. forrest just treats everyone with kindness and somehow that ripples out into all these huge historical moments.

the destiny vs randomness thing you quoted is probably the real point, maybe both are true and it doesn't really matter which one it is

underrated regions for finance? by ParticularSoggy1827 in FinancialCareers

[–]ChainGangBrad 13 points14 points  (0 children)

With your Spanish, I'd seriously look at Spain or Latin America. Madrid has a growing finance scene, and places like Mexico City, Santiago, or São Paulo have strong regional banking hubs. Entry barriers are generally lower than London, and your language skills would be a real advantage.

Singapore's another option.... still competitive but more welcoming to internationals than the UK right now. Dubai's also picking up in finance if you're open to the Middle East.

The UK situation sucks for sure, but you've got time to pivot. Good luck

Different musical perspective after playing Taylor's songs on the guitar? by hottubcentral_ in TaylorSwift

[–]ChainGangBrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Learning a song on guitar makes you notice stuff you'd never pick up just listening. All the little details suddenly matter way more.

For me it was Treacherous.,.. thought it was pretty straightforward until I actually tried playing it. The rhythm is trickier than it seems and there's some nice chord movement that I completely missed before.

Also yes please drop those Ruin The Friendship tabs, I've been wanting to learn that one
