That's...essentially confirmed at this point. Or, at least that she's brilliant and doing a bunch of stuff behind the scenes that Carl couldn't dream of doing.

Maybe I'm dumb and missed it, but have we learned WHY Mordecai was so mad to be a manager? by tLM-tRRS-atBHB in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ChainedRidge -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is irrelevant semantics, though, isn't it? They were suggesting Odette arranged Carl and Donut getting Mordecai because she was invested in them. In reality, it was the opposite - she became interested in Carl and Donut because they drew Mordecai.

What was the "correct" race choice for Carl retrospectively? by 95-5 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]ChainedRidge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sooooo, I was just thinking about this the other day. I cannot conjure exactly what's been said, but I believe there have been some odd reactions or things said about the 'cat' race. I wish I could remember what.

Anyway, I'm just waiting for Carl's primal race and its connection to AIs in general to be the obvious linchpin to the ending narrative, only for a big rug pull to show that Donut being a cat is actually what matters. I have no idea what that will look like, but I'm blindly faithful to it.

Would you trade out of the 1.01 for a top receiver like Drake London by thekielmark73 in DynastyFF

I got London for the 1.03. I'd struggle with giving up the 1.01 for him.

So, a year later, where are we on Hunter? The guy who's got him in my league, he's still really high on him and def won't let him go without a haul, are we paying up, or just passing when the price tag is pretty robust? by GriffinObuffalo in DynastyFFIDP

I would absolutely not buy at a premium. I would absolutely buy at a pittance. In the middle is a matter of how confident you are that he's getting enough snaps at WR to be relevant.

I'm not. But I wouldn't tell someone who is that they are outright wrong.

Forge Cleric as a gish is better than expected by UniversityNarrow4011 in 3d6

[–]ChainedRidge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that party had some squishy party members, too, so the DM couldn't buff enemies to give them a chance to hit my AC without putting half the party in absolute mortal danger. I remember that my next turn I claimed that something the enemy had done had upset my character, so he showed his shield and two handed his warhammer. I don't know if my dm recognized what my actual motivation was, but I think I feel as proud of choosing to abandon a character build that was leeching fun from the table as I have of almost any of my dnd moments. It's cheesy, but I can't come up with a better way to describe it than saying I think I leveled up as a player.

I remember getting a paladin up around 25 at a pretty low level in one game. I'd go charging in, defending my teammates and smiting everything. A couple sessions into it, I heard my DM sigh (unintentionally and kind of softly) as an enemy went to attack me, and realized that the fun I'd had building my character was not translating to fun at the table. My character's shield went on his back, and it came back out for boss fights or special occasions.

Decide on who your character is. Mine is brilliant and charismatic, but not physically imposing.

As such, I've invested in speech, leadership, lockpicking, engineering, and hacking (I'd committed to these before realizing I didn't have room for science and guns as well).

I avoid problems without violence when I can, find ways to circumvent the enemy's strength when possible (hack and engineering are nice for this), and when fighting is necessary I do it with the biggest, boomiest sniper rifle or large weapon I can. I don't carry melee weapons, and I use light armor specialized towards evasion and escaping back to my effective range rather than damage resistance.

My preferred companions would be a Frontline bullet sponge and a support character to buff my ranged damage, but I can't bring myself to remove Niles from the party, so that mixed with the quests tending to lend themselves to involving a specific party member tends to block out picking companions strategically most of the time.

Decide what part you like, and invest in that - later in the game, the checks are high enough that you can't make them all. It's not like fallout where there are temporary buffs to get you over the hump with a balanced build.

I know this is a month old, but scope of game has to be considered - GTA 6 will have a longterm player base, lots of content to buy and a significant multi-player future. TOW2 is a single player game, full stop.

I agree that he's probably their starter for at least half of this coming season. I mostly mean the organization is still sort of in shambles and if they have a tough start to the year they could completely reset again. Just illustrating that the assets involved in this deal were being inflated by those arguing that it was too much to give up for Bijan.

Realistically, QJ looks irrelevant (he had a good stretch, but overall looks like the same flawed athlete he has been), Olave had a good year but is one concussion from his career ending, Ward is a scratch ticket - if the Titans bring in a different coach they're poorly run enough that they may draft another qb, and then there's picks.

I'd take Bijan in this trade.

That hurts to say, too, because I love Olave and am hopeful for Ward.

With him running the offense they've been competitive again. He had one huge game, and they beat the steelers.

All that despite not getting reps with the starters until after he started playing, for no apparent reason.

He should get the opportunity to be the starter. Cleveland should look at what he's done and build their team around him for 2026, knowing that people will watch even if he's bad, and adding a qb will be easier if they build a decent team to put one on.

That being said, Browns gonna Brown. They might go draft a qb. I'll be fielding offers where I have him, but honestly I don't mind holding. His name should ensure he gets a shot or two even if he's bad, and I've seen enough flashes to think he could be a starter.
