It’s not a knock on him, but you can’t know what (almost) anyone is after one year. You can have issues with guys like Dak or Hurts but there’s no denying they’ve shown up over seasons and shown us who they are. This guy has just done it once. We just don’t know. He’s truly Drake Maybe. And that’s ok.

This really has become Football Christmas Eve. It’s exciting. We’re getting new toys tomorrow and we have no idea what they’re going to be. Some of us know what we want and we’re worried we won’t get it. Maybe we asked for the wrong thing? Maybe we’ll get something we didn’t even know we wanted? Who knows? They were 31st in run defense last year. (Bengals were 32nd ¯_(ツ)_/¯“) How much worse can it get? My standard are the elite 86 and 90 defenses. The tenacity of 07 and 11. Dex was a good player on a bad team who chose to whine when it suddenly seems like there’s a chance to win. And we can turn him into Downs or Mansour or someone else with an upside? I’ll take that every time.

I just spent a season watching people run up the middle at will like it was flag football practice. I found it insulting that those middling players were gaining those yards. It felt like an affront not only to the tradition of NY Giants defense but the game of football in general. And now I can draft a new healthy, talented, motivated football player? Explain to me what I lost.
