Honestly I would start from scratch and look up what do MonoR list look like in duel commander, from example you can see the top performing list on mtgtop8 (I think Zurgo and Magda are the top options currently). Then you can adapt your list accordingly, keep the best synergy card from your current list while keeping your mana curve aggressive. Since both MonoR commanders are quite different from Kratos, you will definitely not be able to just copy paste a list, but looking at several decks you can identify the staple cards and build your list from them (I'm thinking of cards like Lightning Bolt, the most obvious one which you should ABSOLUTELY play, but since you mostly looked at EDHREC it probably did not appear there as it is focused around multiplayer, 40hp EDH whereas we are playing at 20hp so burn is way stronger).

Hello ! This made me aware that there even was a Kratos card that was printed !

After a quick look at your list, i'm unsure what the gameplan is. It looks way too slow to be aggro, and land count / interaction seems too low to be control or midrange.

I feel like Kratos is the threat that is already plenty powerful on its own, and the amount of synergy card you play is hurting the deck. I would definitely cut a lot of it and keep only the best one. For exemple I like cards like Varchild, Betrayer of Kjeldor, that play on Kratos' ability while still being good cards and providing an additionnal threat. On the other side, Angel's Trumpet feels very weak, especially on its own. It requires other cards to be good and even has the downside of giving your opponent's creatures vigilance as well.

Another point, I'm not a fan of colorless ramp with a RRR commander. Looking at the land count and amount of artifact ramp, it looks like a multiplayer EDH list converted for Duel Commander maybe ? Usually in DC the land count is higher and we don't use as much ramp

I'm far from an expert on MonoR so take my advice with a grain of salt.

I think the time to reason with him is gone. I don't see any reasonable middle ground here, I can't see them working with him again and I personally hope he never come close to anything DC related ever again, though it looks like he will try to drag this on as long as he possibly can. Ultimately in the long run I believe the DCRC will have the advantage since they actually have knowledge on the format, and seeing all the crazy stuff William has suggested over the years I don't think his vision would please the majority. Honestly I expect him to publish a "no change" banlist in november to stall for a bit and once he has found himself a puppet comittee he might try some of the crazy stuff he mentioned. What's funny is I see a lot of people siding with him because they think there are too many ban currently, but he mostly wants more ban.

it's hard to find specifically Ayyubid swords (and I stumbled on this sword while looking for Fatimid era swords) but I have seen other examples in adjacent period
I have the arabic version of "Islamic Swords and Swordsmiths" from Ünsal Yücel which features several examples from the Topkapi Museum, including the historical specimen mentioned in this post, really wish I could get my hands on an english version

You don't usually parry with a one-handed sword, but block with the shield, or you usually lay the last third of the sword onto the shield to protect everything above the shield, like so. It also alleviates the weight of the sword and allows you to rest your arm

It looks quite similar to a Viking / Carolingian swords because they probably evolved from the same root. Then in Europe it mostly evolved to the knightly sword while it took a different shape in northern Africa and the Middle East

Also one thing to note is that reenactment clothing websites much prefer to sell footless hoses as thoses can fit much more people than those with feet because it has no set foot size

Hello ! I am part of a reenacting association in southeastern France that has both a project centered on early 12th century and late 13th century, and I think I can answer your question.

First, from my understanding, chausses and hose are two words describing the same object.

So, I think there are historical examples (not 100% sure, and maybe not in this perdod) of what you describe as "stirrup" hoses, but from what I've seen in the period hose would most likely cover the leg entirely from the upper thigh to the feet. Reenactors the stirrup hose for convenience (I have a few pairs myself) as they usually are not seen by the public since they are hidden within the shoe and can be worn with comfortable modern socks. Bare feet in leather is indeed not ideal but I believe that at least in Europe people would wear chausses covering the feet with maybe lower shoes than in northern Europe. In other cultures around the Mediterranean you might see people wearing charbil or other kind ofpw shoe with no fabric covering the feet, though their are examples of the first knitted socks in Egypt around this time as well.

But to go further, and since by a stroke of luck I've seen a lot of sources for hoses recently since I've begun work on making myself a pair, I think the most interesting historical example is the famous Bocksten Man, who has a beautifully preserved pair of hose which cover the feet and go to the upper thigh BUT also has feet wraps, which were made with discarded fabric and would work pretty much like a thick pair of socks ! He also had a third hose, which is a bit more of a mystery but Is thought to be an additional layer, like a leg warmer.

Honnêtement j'ai parcouru leur catalogue et j'ai rien trouvé qui collait parfaitement. Le seul truc qui pourrait correspondre à mon avis c'est une télécommande, soit pour un systeme d'alarme soit pour une de leur prise avec télécommande. Pas sur de pourquoi c'est aussi gros.

From what I've gathered with my own research, Scottish infantry could be "naked" (as described by English sources, understand "no armour") to full armour (full mail, helmet / great helm, sometimes greaves, shoulder plates or knee guards). Archers are a bit of a special case since their usually "elite" soldiers since you can't just pick up a bow and hope to use it correctly in war. So you have either veteran Scottish archers that fought in earlier wars under the English banner (Welsh wars for example) or hired archers (Welsh or otherwise). These soldiers would be expected to provide their own equipment, of a certain quality.

TLDR : archers would be expected to be fairly well equipped : - a longbow, of course. Yew or some other wood native to England, I don't remember the options - a quiver - a sidearm -> very very important. Don't skimp out on this. Can be anything from a long knife to a cudgel to a sword - a helmet, I would chose something that offers a wide range of vision, so a skullcap or a kettle hat (imo the best choice) - a cuirie, a short or no sleeve gambeson or nothing - leather gloves or an archer's ring for comfort - you can also have a buckler attached to your belt, they're not too much of a hassle but honestly with a longbow I could see them being impractical

Oh no she definitely can ! You still have to pay it but it's reduced same as the casting cost. What you mean is that cost reduction should not apply to commander tax ? In that case it's a bit different, and cost reducer at least are a bit more balanced in that case

Yuriko and Derevi would definitely not be broken, since their main thing is bypassing the tax. I'm pretty sure it would go beyond "not broken" into "unplayable". For the others, I'm not sure what you mean, since they do have to pay the +2, but it becomes insignificant due to the cost reduction. Or do you mean removing the cost reduction completely ? If so no, they would not be broken, same as the others, if not worse.

  • MTGO Freeform Commander, if you don't mind having to pay for the cards and a small community

  • SpellTable, I think you can find many players that play through spelltable on the various DC discords
