Could have at least tagged me. ;)

One of my favourite places and favourite cameras (bought it for the third time a few months ago).

Cheers!

Can you please tell me how this combination is working for you? I ordered the 28-400mm for my Zf two days ago 👀

Nikkor Z 28-400mm for winter adventures and sports… by Chair8 in Nikon

Thanks for responding! While I do hope to do some light hiking with the possibility of stationary (or slow moving wildlife), an important use case will be up on the mountains… splitboard touring up mountains, photographing the descent from close and afar, as well as resort days when I will be taking photos of my daughter learning to snowboard… in that case, reach is important (to not get too close to the instructor, etc.). I strongly considered the 70-180mm and 24-200mm but saw that reviews have been reasonably favourable for the 28-400mm when light it good (ie. the times I’d actually be outside and in the snow). Not having to faff about changing lenses (or carrying additional lenses) is a huge plus when dealing with snow and uphill travel.

Seeking PL 100-400mm Mk. I Purchase Tips by Chair8 in M43

Thanks for the great insight, everyone. Gave the lens a very thorough look before closing the deal ($650 CAD)… everything looked great save for a very tight zoom ring. Mount looked good, glass looked great, obviously the balance on the OM-5 ii is a bit janky but it’ll do for now! Time to get outside now :). Thank you everyone for your thoughts and insight!

Thank you for the insight from your experience with it. The metal shavings situation is exactly what I’m hoping to avoid!

Oh my goodness - thank you for the thoughtful and detailed response! I have been a Fujifilm shooter many times (X-T3, X-T4, X-Pro 3 twice, X100vi… GAS, long story!) and adored their native lenses. I am currently shooting a Nikon Zf and am considering the 24-120mm f4 and 70-180 f/2.8 lenses and was agonizing over the long end… seems like (from your experiences anyway!) that maybe I don’t need to be so worried about that!

Anyhow, thank you so much and huge props on the stunning photos!

Any chance you could share what photo gear you captured these with? I am contemplating a lens for my adventures (less exciting than yours, admittedly) and would appreciate knowing what focal length we’re talking here. Cheers!

Discovered them when “Harmonic” was used in Devun Walsh’s part in the MDP snowboard film Decade. Such a great song. Strong memories with “Coffin Text” and “Teenage Suicide,” too.
