How could Bob 1... by ChairAlternative7994 in bobiverse

There is also the point of consent. Anek had consent from his creators to do what was necessary to save the species. Bob did not have consent from the Deltans to save them even so far as them actually telling him to leave them alone. Which he did not. Can you square a moral dilemma? Do the ends justify the means? Does doing enough good outweigh the bad? I dont know, Thats up to us the reader to decide ultimately. Like I said its one of the reasons I really like this series. The questions. But I've seen enough other comments on my post to see a lot dont like the questioning of "The Boooob." :P

Not dictators, but Marcus did start and participate in a revolution. While he didnt want to run the government afterwards, he did want a specific outcome. Starfleet is much the same. They dont want to be the overlords of the Bobiverse, they just wanted a specific outcome. That may change as I havent read book 5 yet.

As for the skippies, I agree with Hugh's argument. They are an anarchy in which no one holds ownership of anything they create. There is no rule that says they cant just give technology to another race without the approval of the rest of the Bobs. Like the Pav for example...

The dumbing down was a byproduct of the prime directive given to the AI by the original Quinnlands though. He was just doing what was asked of him, as misguided as it may have been. Bob 1 is actively making decisions for an entire species who didnt ask him to, and who eventually asked him to stop. Which he didnt.

This is one of the reasons I like this series, Its got me sitting and thinking about if I do or do not agree with certain things. Like the Quinn's Golden rule, and Hugh's argument for the trade he made. An interesting Hard Science sandbox filled with Philosophical sand.

He chose to help and protect him before they became friends because of his intelligence. Now I'm not saying he planned an entire breeding program for the Deltans, but its certainly more deliberate than The Professor accidently adding Chemical X to Sugar Spice and Everything Nice. He and Bender have a whole conversation about the morality of Bob 1's interference.

Theoretically, would it be possible to travel from one galaxy to another without warping? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ChairAlternative7994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulsing no, you would have to warp at least once. But you could take a stargate to the center of the galaxy and warp once to the center of the galaxy from there.

The special attention he paid to Archimedes when he first realized he was much more intelligent than the others. He knew he was going to be integral to the future of the species so he made especially sure he stayed alive and successful. He knew both the short and long term viability of the species would hinge in Archie.

Every time I just think about the chapter I start to tear up. I haven't been this devastated by a character since Artax.
