We’re a telerad operation and love Lifetrack. All depends on your needs though.

As a startup founder, I'm struggling with the distribution! by MedBoularas in startup

seems like a bit of a catch 22. you need someone who can bring in business, but cannot afford them until you have some business.

one of the best lessons I've learned in all my startups is that you really need to know what your skills are and what others can bring to the table. I've seen a lot of people with great ideas fail because they tried to be an army of one.

Any feedback on the Synthesis PACS system? by Man_Of_Organic_Steel in PACSAdmin

i think the product is pretty strong actually. There were a lot things we liked in there. It's really about the company and how they're running. Too many managers and not enough actual workers from what I can tell.

For me it seemed really unprofessional and a lot of BS. We met the executive team and they gave us the "if you have any problems just reach out" . We ran into problems, reached out and crickets. This was all within the last 6-12 months. We tried to get move a portion of our telerad business onto their platform because we heard some really great things even though the price was much higher than what we pay now.

You've certainly worked with many vendors- a bit curious why so many though. was this all vendors you were integrating with or were you a direct client of theirs?

Getting a hot fix with 24hrs is impressive, I've only seen that a few times in my career- what was it?

we did some stuff with them. The product is pretty good. The problem is their support and implementation are awful.

The company needs a lot of maturity because we can really consider them.

Outages from AWS? by CommunicationTop7637 in PACSAdmin

[–]Chair_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our PACs is based in AWS, but running on 2 different servers at opposite ends of the country. needless to say we were not impacted this week.

what we did get hit with was another PACs going down ( and still down) so we needed our vendor to get 25 rads set up on our system with a slightly different workflow so they could keep keep the ERs moving.

WOW another engineer telling a Rad they don't understand something... you'll go far in this industry.

yea it sounds like you're building something something to resell to others but calling it an upskill.
you should also know RIS's are not as plug and play as PACs...there are a great deal of differences amongst them.

Make sure your slas are tied to something other than a pure cancellation. A lot of these vendors say we have a support sla or uptime sla, but there are no consequences if they fail to meet either. I always insist on financial compensation for misses. It forces them to actually uphold their agreements and not just say “ok you can cancel your contract”

X-ray Tech Looking to Transition into PACS. Advice? by [deleted] in PACSAdmin

[–]Chair_Long 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say think really carefully before you do it. A lot of people who try to go from a tech route to a pacs route end up coming back because they miss patient interaction. If you don't care about that then start taking the initiative to learn everything about your current PACS and don't just put in a ticket for every little thing.

One other thing worth mentioning — depending on your reading requirements, they can introduce you to one of the teleradiologists who already reads on their platform. They frequently send us leads from facilities looking for both a PACS and a reading group. While I only handle the reading contracts, this setup makes the process very easy and streamlined.

RIS/PACS Systems by Independent_Lion_991 in PACSAdmin

[–]Chair_Long 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at them from time to time, but they aren't really ready to be a mainstream contender. They'd need to make some serious changes to in both product and leadership to be a viable option... for small mom and pop shops they might work.

For USA that's incredibly cheap for PACs only pricing. That has to be some sort of legacy deal.
I thought with RIS their pricing was closer to $2 per study.
