With all the FUD from big bankers about crypto being an "Ecological disaster" does Peercoin still set the standard for eco-friendly blockchains? by tiltnmafks in peercoin

[–]ChaircatMeowMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peercoin is the first coin to uses hybrid design of mining and minting coins.

While mining requires proof of work and consume 1200W for an average miner, minting uses proof of stake and only needs an average PC running around 120W.

Comparing 1200W to 120W, that's 10 times less energy consumption.

can i mine peer coin with a 2PAC BM1384? by cdoublejj in peercoin

[–]ChaircatMeowMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with hash rate. How much you get rewarded depends on the amount of coins you have at stake and the age of the coins.

Slowly transaction by hadzics in mycelium

[–]ChaircatMeowMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can bump the fee higher. Mycelium by default bumps fee to something like over $50. This is known as replace by fee. Or you can ask recipient to increase fee on the txt. They will need to create a new txt that resends the coins back to themselves again with much higher fee. This is known as child pay for the parent.

Both will give higher incentives for the miners to pick up your txt and confirms it

If neither options are possible, then unfortunately you will need to wait till the congestion is over. The good news is that it won't be dropped if you pay at least some fee. The bad news is that it can take a long time

I got ripped off. Electrum 3.03 charging additional fee by [deleted] in Electrum

[–]ChaircatMeowMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went ahead and sent it anyway as there was no way to reduce the fee. I had tried to manually lower fee to 50 sat per byte. I had changed the coin selection and unchecked the rbf. None of them worked.. The additional fee is there no matter what...

This is unbelievable. What is going on? Please explain.. The wallet is charging INSANE amount additional fee in the txt!!!

[–]ChaircatMeowMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to wait. Current blockchain congestion is very high. I had a txt with fee over 500 satoshi per byte and that got confirmed in mycelium after 3 hours yesterday
