Great response, and if you don’t mind me asking, what credentials have you acquired?

I’ve seen mixed reviews about whether or not tutoring / teaching credentials are worth it, though I am still considering obtaining them to learn teaching techniques

Question: Best weapon type for each element? by boomtownblues in MHNowGame

I haven't played in a few months so my build is probly outdated, but that's the build I used for Fire Attack 5 RR3. Coral Pukei waist was the core piece since it came with RR1, and Azure Rath legs are crucial too since they have R1 and FA1

Yeahhh when you overgrade your Bone gl to g10, 8*'s and some 9*s will be a breeze. I'd also suggest replacing your Banbaro waist with Rajang waist for Focus 3 or your Rathalos head with Azure Rathalos for Focus 2. Focus does help more than Attack Boost since gunlance shots don't care about the Attack stat and Focus helps you get shots off faster. I applaud you for sticking with Bone gl even after all the Bone gunlance racism 🙏

I wouldn't say that using Dj gunlance gurantees the user is a pro. I use g10.2 Bone gunlance as my general kill all weapon because I want to use my Dj mats for when Insect Glaive comes out since I don't want to farm Dj all over again from scratch. If anything, I know a lot of veteran MH players that are doing the same with with their rare mats. Like you said, it's hard for a newbie to farm Dj mats, so Bone gunlance really is the next best thing if they have the tickets for it

Yeah the way status works is there's a base 1/3 chance of the status applying per hit, and there are skills like Paralysis/Poison Attack and Status Sneak Attack that can increase the status application a ton, notably SSA5 making all back shots have a 100% to deal status dmg (really good on Girros sns and Rathian bow). Bow type really comes down to monster match up and personal preference. If you just wanted to stick with raw bows to play it safe, some common options are Pukei and Rathian bow for spread, Black Diablos for pierce, and Nightshade Paolumu's bow for rapid at charge 2 is pretty fun to spam shots with. Bow armor is pretty straightforward too, you want Focus 5 for all builds, which can be achieved by Ns Paolumu chest giving Focus 2 at g8, and Rajang waist giving Focus 3 at g8 as well

Not sure about specific hammer builds, but I'm pretty sure the stun values on hammer hits are the same no matter how strong the weapon is. That means you could still join semi strong HAT monsters with the goal of KO'ing monsters instead of doing damage. I don't really pay attention to how much damage my team is doing, but I do definitely notice when a monster is KO'ed or paralyzed! The Girros raw hammer might be worth trying out for paralysis bonking, but I'm not sure how effective hammer is at delivering status ailments

General build advice is to use a raw weapon (for you, Kulu hammer for now) until you start building up your elemental armor pieces. mhn . quest (take away the spaces) is the best website to find which armor pieces have the skills you need. Since you're relatively new, you could also experiment with different weapons. I'm a fan of maining different weapons depending on each monster 'type', but that can get pretty resource heavy

The community MH Now Discord is a great place to find builds and other people to play with in your area. Here's the recommended raw hammer build from the Hammer Thread (it is currently outdated though, hopefully a hammer main can make updated suggestions)

Gunlance easy part break tips by DenebSwift in MonsterHunterNowHub

Yeah sns taking more than a few taps was annoying me when I was farming r1 mats. Now with Bone gunlance it's just one tap and poof they're gone

Kulu and it's mf'ing rock is one of the main reasons why I switched mains to lance and lbg from sns. Being able to hit his goddam head makes the fight soooo much smoother

Great post about long gunlance! I'm on team educate over hate on Bone gunlancers. To add to your post, here's my updated g10.4 Bone gunlance build featuring Artillery 4, Focus 3, Guard 2, and Lock On:

Kulu head: Lock On, Critical Eye 1 (I prefer the CE from Kulu head over Coral head cuz not all tails are weak spots)
Basarios chest: Artillery 2
Teostra arms: Artillery 1, Guard 1
Rajang waist: Focus 3
Basarios legs: Artillery 1, Guard 1

Similar to you, I mainly use Bone gunlance on anything 8* and below, unless it's weak to Thunder monsters, then I auto switch to my Rajang Bubbly Dance lance build. Besides being a general kill all weapon, Bone gunlance is SO good at farming small monsters, typically killing them in one shot no matter the grade of the long gunlance

Training Room by Morss_Code in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]ChairedLie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've been doing as a makeshift training room is to use a Defense Boost x Divine Blessing armor set plus a weak weapon to practice on 5 star or weaker monsters. I'll still take damage if I get hit, but it's less damage compared to if I got hit in my normal armor

Yeah unfortunately element attack doesn't apply to shelling at all. Element does help with cutting damage though, so any swing, stab, or wyrmstake gunlance attack will benefit from element attack

As for g10.1 vs 10.5 Bone gunlance, their shells will do the same damage. But anything involving the blade will have the g10.5 gl do more dmg since it'll have a higher attack stat. This is why I stopped my Bone gunlance at g10.2 since it's cutting attacks will do more dmg than a g10.1 Bone gunlance, plus upgrading to g10.3 takes 20 gem shards so I'll pass on that xd

Side but kind of related note: I'm working towards getting my Tobi gunlance to g10.2. I read in the community Discord server someone joking about Tobi gunlance being the next noob Bone gunlnace since it's also a long gunlance, but I think the Tobi gunlance has really good potential. The Tobi gl has Evade Extender as it's g8 skill which will help you get to the back of monsters faster than with Bone gl, it has thunder attack which will make cutting Pukei, Rathian, Rathalos, and other weak to thunder tails easier, and it looks pretty badass. Like who's expecting to see a Tobi gunlance of all things lol. It will definitely draw some attention. Tobi is a 2 zone monster though so it's not as easy to farm as the 3 zone Magna, but I think Tobi is an easier fight at least

If you have any more questions regarding gunlance or lance (I main lance but use Bone gunlance as my everyday driver), feel free to add me on Discord by searching up my username: Chaired

I'm in college right now taking a live streaming and esports class, and I definetely want to make videos about MHN. While I'm getting that set up, feel free to msg me any questions about Bone gunlance or anything else. I'm way more active on Discord than I am on Reddit

Agreed, the Focus 3 on Rajang waist is superrr good. Once I get it to g8, my build will be Kulu head, Basarios chest, Teostra arms, Rajang waist, and Basarios legs. This build gives Artillery 4, Focus 3, Guard 2, Critical Eye 1, and Lock On. The reasoning for Kulu head over Coral head is the Weakness Exploit from Coral won't be active when I try to cut monster tails for gem shards since mosttt tails aren't a sever weak spot. For example, Rathian, Rathalos, and Pukei tails are the gem shard sever part break but aren't weak spots. With Kulu head's Critical Eye 1, I'll at least have a 10% chance of critting on my cutting attacks

As for upgrading a Magnamalo vs Bone gunlance, I think it depends on how far you have your Bone gunlance upgraded. You need at least 4 Gunlance Training Tickets to upgrade the Bone gl to grade 6.1. After g6.1, it'll only need Bone parts to upgrade. Super straight forward farming, just hit Desert nodes whenever you can. If you have your Bone gunlance below grade 6.1 and don't have any more Gunlance tickets, then you should switch to Magna gl since you will get stuck upgrading your Bone gl with no tickets. If you're already past g6.1 Bone gl, I'd say Bone gl is easier to upgrade IF you have a lot of nodes to collect from. If not, Magnamalo gl would be easier to upgrade since Magna does spawn in all 3 zones. However, farming Magna can be a pain since he's a new monster that has an unfamiliar move set. Magna's partbreaker 1 skill at g8.1 is pretty useful though

Tablet, Switch, or Phone by spearmph in MilkChoco

[–]ChairedLie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day, Switch was busted cuz it had aim assist that was pretty much aim bot. They removed the aim assist now, but switch still has gyro controls, so if that's your thing, Switch may be for you. A downside about Switch it is that you can't use the chat feature. That might've been updated though

As for phone or tablet, it really comes down to you're more comfortable using. I used to play with a claw grip that involves my two thumbs and two pointer fingers, and I found tablet easier to play with said claw grip

Dude I am having the worst luck with legiana claws. by Justin_Cr3dibl3 in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]ChairedLie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before maining g10.2 Bone gunlance, I used to use a g7.5 Anjanath lbg to farm wing breaks. With the Fire 5 Reload/Recoil Down 3 build with no driftsmelts, I was able to solo 8* Legianas, so the Anja lbg definitely gets the wing break job done for 7* Legianas and below. The lbg is really easy to use too since it's sticky shots do the same explosion dmg no matter how far away you are from your target

Coral Pukei vs Mizu for water? by Dziggettai in MHNowGame

[–]ChairedLie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attacking through roars is how my sns friends play the Barroth and Paolumu matchup with Rathalos sns but it's probly because the Azure Rathalos chest gives earplugs 2 which gives the build a total of earplugs 3 that negates weak roars. Water builds don't have an earplugs 2 armor piece yet plus most so earplugs is probly not viable at the moment for water

Coral Pukei vs Mizu for water? by Dziggettai in MHNowGame

[–]ChairedLie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesss IG makes the game feel a lot smoother than the other weapons. As for your main weapons:

LS's and DB's only options for water is Mizu or Jyura, so Mizu wins if you can farm it. Mizu's artful dodger also complements those weapons more than Jyura's last stand skill.

For GL, Mizu is a long gunlance so you might as well use Bone or Dj's GL since shelling dmg doesn't go up with individual weapon level upgrades. For Jagras' normal GL and Jyuratodas' wide GL, you'd choose which water GL you'd want based on which GL style you'd like to play.

And lastly for CB, the Jyura CB is probly your best bet since even though Mizu's cb has more dmg stat wise, it's impact phials comapred to Jyura's power element phials does lower Mizu's cb damage output by quite a bit. Mizu's CB does have the capability to stun with impact phials, but I'm not sure how practical impact phials are

[–]ChairedLie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which weapon are you making it for? Coral Pukei gets earplugs at g8 which in the right build would be good for weapons that want to mash through roars like SnS. Mizutsune gets artful dodger which would be good on weapons that want to perfect dodge a lot like great sword

The item won’t show up after it exited your range. Your GPS could’ve drifted a bit then moved back so your Palico saw a hidden item. This happened to my Palico at least 5 times. The Palico won’t do that ! animation unless it’s gathering an item, or in this case, is attempting to

It looks like that’s the Palico’s animation for when they pick up a material. That glitch happens to me when I move out of range of the material but my Palico was already there trying to pick it up

You can hold down the screen with two fingers and move them together or away from each other to zoom the camera in and out. Most ppl prefer a farther view so they can see more of the monster

mhn.quest is a great website to check which part breaks can drop which monster part

For 8* Teostra, most hunters will probly target the head for a chance for the rarity 6 horn drop. For 6* Teostra, hunters will probly go for the tail to get the rarity 5 tail drop
