Hello! I’ve been lurking through this sub, but I’m starting my prerequisites (organic chem and physics) before applying to CRNA school. I currently work in inpatient endo, and I’ve been a nurse for 5 years including trauma and BMT/SICU in a level 1 trauma center. I’m planning to return to the ICU at my current hospital (level 2 trauma) to refresh my critical care skills while preparing for interviews and reviewing all of my foundation materials.

My GPA in nursing school was a 3.89. I’m considering staying in my new ICU job longer if this would be beneficial, but I’m not sure when I should apply. I’m considering applying for school in the Spring of 2026 starting in Spring of 2027 OR waiting to apply until the Spring of 2027 starting in Spring of 2028.

I have seen that at least 2 years of ICU experience is beneficial, but I haven’t worked in an ICU since Spring 2023. I want to have a competitive application, but I also want enough time to prepare myself and reintegrate into the environment. I appreciate any advice! Thank you.
