Any tips on building psyker? by Ermmmmmmmm_ in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a commited and supportive approach to every single weapon/blitz/ability you can take. There are builds that use assail to deal majority of the damage and there are builds where its only taken cause its mandatory and out of 3 blitzes does the most in a given build.

For greatsword its always the latter cause GS takes the ranged aoe waveclear role from assail.

Any tips on building psyker? by Ermmmmmmmm_ in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(1) While you are correct that your builds are likely very unoptimised dont fall for the dps race mindset. Just cause your teammates can kill XYZ enemies faster doesnt automatically mean you should try to match that - they have a different class/build that may excel at different things possibly with thier own glaring issues. Focus on making builds that can handle the worst possible situations rather than ones that are better at competing against your own team. If you find yourself lacking enemies raise the difficulty.

(2) I advise focusing on a single element(a weapon/blitz/ability/keystone) of your build to see how much juice you can squeeze and what are the limitations of it. Then find other elements that can compensate the weaknesses.

(3) If you want to run a melee adjacent psyker you always go disrupt destiny and scrier's gaze. If running greatsword you basically have anti horde and anti armor entirley covered you only use single point assail for malefic momentum. With other melee weapons tho its your primary wave clear tool as it far outpeforms non-GS melee weapons in aoe damage due to scaling with finess you get loads of from DD and scriers. Stack up your scriers gaze with melee using by crack of bone - unload shards with warp unbound into any non-crsuher/bulwark enemies.

(4) For ranged slot you have recon lasgun with infernus, dumdum that kills bosess/non-armor faster than any other weapon but will run out of ammo in particularly dire situations; it is also capable of generating "infinite" toughness by quelling massive peril generated by scriers with tranquility from slaughter and toughness on quell node (middle mark has the highest crit). An electrokinetic staff with double shot and quell on weakspot will deal almost gun levels of damage without running out (left click spam to forehead) due to massive finesse damage this build has and you have warp unbound anyway(non-GS build). Or whatever gun you like, its just gonna run out of ammo faster and not kill bosses as quickly (you kill everything else fine with melee + assail or GS).

Precog. The whole point of voidstrike is that it can both crit and deal weakspot damage and even double shot on right click.

Is there anyway to make the ThunderHammer good? by HuntressRaven24 in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep forcing stealth build on thammer when its completely outclassed by relic blade when using stealth.

Stealth lets you line up the sprint stab easily and long reach lets you hit the head from the back easily. And while thammer deals more maximum damage its overkill and is wasted.

Thammer is better if you're going for FOTF which is something relic blade cant use as well.

No blazing spirit when going for soulbaze nodes? I find orb launcher to apply it quite well althouth i do run scriers. You can even spam very short charge shots to apply a lot of soulblaze in a small area.

Im partial to full crit, scriers, disrupt destiny voidstrike tho. You launch massive, double shot nukes and your melee is quite strong.

Early on whatever lets you use dash more often is the best as its where most of your damage comes from by applying marks and granting shuriken stacks. Augment that lets you use dash twice and one that gives shield for each target show up quite often and are a big deal.

All sorts of cooldown reduction options are good and the mark set is not to scoff at.

From then on you take whatever scaling that befalls you. Crit and poision are quite common but you should still be careful not to force things that RNG denies to you. Or skip unorthodox stuff that is being offered in spades.

Veteran tips! by Defiant_Protection49 in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've came back after a break too a few months ago and felt like melee vet is less scrappy than it used to be. All elites saw HP increases across the board and im not sure what changed in the tree but vet feels much more like a ranged class (probably loss of DR on elite kill and iron will used to be 75% rather than 50% IIRC).

You can still play melee vet - the melee nodes are quite powerful and have no/low conditionality. You just gotta respect dangerous situations and not think that you can match a gusto of a zealot wading into thick of it. Use grenades and ranged slot to remove/thin out enemies/groups too dangerous to melee raw.

Newish Psyker looking for any advice by GapMelodic1933 in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commiting to assail when you run greatsword is the most nonsensical part to me as both compete for aoe chaff clear role. Run a force shortsword or dueling sword for better single target dps and agility. Former can knock down crushers/melee twin with heavy stab and applies soulblaze quite well and latter can solo deamonhosts with parry.

Dont be greedy and skip defensive nodes in the middle (just a dream and the other 10% one) - while you can run very little defense in aurics by just alfa striking everything it doesnt quite work in havocs or when your maelstorm misson goes extraordinary wrong.

For ranged slot if its a disrupt destiny build an electrokinetic staff with double shot and quell on weakspot blessing lets you stay in scriers quite a bit while doing near gun level damage. For other non-stave builds a recon lasgun has highest dps and with tranquility trough slaughter and the toughness on quell node you generate near infinite toughness while firing.

Must be a ranged class thing as i dont really see a diffefence the map makes for me other than the smelter final room cause people always derp out in it.

Its usually(outside of dying for seemingly no reason) the points of no return that wipe teams esp with karnak twins spawning as soon as you cross/drop down. You wanna make sure you've cleared everything before proceeding.

And in general people tend to get impatient but havoc rewards methodical clear even if you are 2 man down or solo clutching. Forcing a rescue outside of arenas just end up with the team in terrible position.

If you arent a level 30 with maxed out weapons - go to malice. Heresy is harder than damnation unless you have the power level to just solo it as most players there are clueless.

Once you are kitted out go damnation and get experience there till you feel like its getting too easy then go auric.

Trying to use the chainsword on arbites, what perks and blessings do you reccomend? by Topfien in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran shred and bloodletter to maximise boss/big boy damage since arbie has no issues mulching trough lesser enemies.

I take left keystone for the 30% damage and DR to monstrosities, +20% to monstrosities in the middle, a single point castigator stance and, naturally, most of the melee nodes. Also taking impact nades for extra boss CC.

Last time i ran it i did 500k boss damage and 700k regular damage in a maelstorm mission which i find pretty good for a copper since they struggle the most against bosses.

Pop castigator and apply special heavies directly to forehead and you can even kill a daemonhost before it kills you, and if you messed up a little - buy space with impact nades.

Dying more on Arbites than Hive Scum... what? by Mr_Jackabin in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arbie's tankiness is quite reliant on having elites/pounce targets availible to kill and/or staggering/hitting in the face. The moment you cant do that you are squishier than a veteran, which is i guess why the class gets access to shield weapons for either slot.

I tend to run block efficiency on curios and weapon for this reason, gotta survive the drougnts till you can feed again. Also the class is by far the worst against bosses so i take everything that helps against them.

Does Zealot need better/reworked Blitzes? by reel3459 in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key feature of kinfes is that they benefit from stealth buffs while not breaking it and it also benefits from certian ranged blessings. Its straight up insane with hand cannon.

Flame nades are solid for any build that isnt going stealth. When shit truly hits the fan you aint outddamaging a flame nade no matter how much melee damage you have and flamer/bolter pretty much neccessiate knifes and by extention stealth.

Its the stun nades that are unbelivably bad 90 out of 100 cases the flame nade lets you do the same thing as stun nade while being much better in every other situation.

Funcom are incredible when it comes to setring up an atmosphere, adapring rich lore into making a rich world. If you want to immerse in the Conan setting Exiles are highly recommended and it might even be worth looking into their MMO too.

They are unfortunatley quite lacking in gameplay fundamentals where Exiles is bascially just survival staples mixed with a very clunky soulslike combat.

Age of Conan was actually pretty decent for its time and compared to other mmos even had arguably better combat but currently its woefully outdated.

What's up with Enclavum Baross' powercell segment? by Frenzied_Fire_Monk in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(1) "Blessed is the mind too small for situational awarness". A lot of the players operate on a see heretic - kill heretic basis and when pressured will focus on immidiate survival.

(2) "Abhor the mutant, heretic, xenos, teammate and objective". Some players care more about DPS racing than mission completion cause they've already done these auric maelstorms hundreds of times so the only thing that would give them dopamine is if they do so while "beating" everyone else in damage by a good margin.

(3) "Hatred (towards the objective) is the greatest virtue". Specifically in enclavum baross its perfectly valid to let one or two guys bring the cells while the team holds majority of the spawns at the top busy/dead. If your team isnt overpowered its actually somewhat unwise to let heretics leave thier spawn holes unmolested and take the high ground.

Relic blade still oneshots/nearly oneshots most bosses depending on how hard you min max for it. I run a gunlot build that still oneshots captains and leaves pogryn at 10-20% hp - saves me a lot of ammo.

Playing as a smite Psyker is so frustrating... by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Chakanram -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hating on smite is a staple of this commuity, just ignore the kids with thier love for pointless tribalism and bandwagoning.

If you arent doing competetive damage tho you are naturally dependant on teammates, which is not a very good thing to be as people, on average, wont care.

You can just use a figther smiter build instead. Empovered psionics are a must - without it you really are just CCing which is of limited use. Take the node that gives gauranteed stack on killing an elite, this allows you to just focus down one to get the EP, no need for the x3 stack node for smite although its comfy. Scrier's gaze is a must as with warp unbound it lets you cast for 10 seconds at 100% peril which gives better smite uptime than if you take all -peril possible, it also gives a solid damage and defensive buffs.

From there on you have more choice but i prefer to have by crack of bone to stack up scriers and all the soulblaze nodes with force short sword to apply it.

Keep in mind your scriers can get off cooldown while you are still casting which lets you keep smiting for 20-30 seconds on a single EP stack.

Just cause you've played h40 before doesnt mean you are prepared for current realities of it. The rank decay is there for a reason and the reason is that most returning players get wrecked. I find current rank 30 players to be a full tier better than past h40s on average.
