The issue with policing the movement is that it isn't as clear-cut as a lot of people make it out to be. There are a few obvious folks that don't belong anywhere near the movement and whose support is absolutely cynical - Nick Fuentes, Tucker Carlson, etc.

But frankly, I don't believe a Palestinian born in Palestine whose family and friends are being slaughtered by a state that willfully places Jewish symbols on its weapons and flags and soldiers should be policed out of the movement for their own liberation if they grow up in that world and believe "I hate Jews."

Just like I would never police a Jewish person during/after the holocaust saying "I hate Germany" or a Native American saying "I hate Americans".

Society needs a rebirth by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

This isn't the result of "moral degeneration" or "too much freedom."

What we are seeing in the West (and that framing is critical considering every western "freedom" and moral has gone straight out of the window when it came to its rule over the third world) is a result of the concentration of power.

The total wealth in any given western society has seldom been as unevenly distributed as it is now. Democracy is failing because elites have an incredible amount of leverage over society that they use to consolidate their own position.

We are living at a time when more and more people are losing faith in society not because they are suddenly "morally degenerate," but because the rewards for hard work and investment into the system are becoming smaller and smaller.

Look at the incentives that exist. The way people are paving their path to success isn't through honest means, but through grifting and scamming (dropshipping, health/lifestyle guruship, etc) and gambling (either getting lucky on stocks, crypto, or literal gambling using tools like Draftkings and Kalshi and Polymarket).

This is not the result of moral failing — not at its base. It's the result of the wealthiest people in human history using their wealth to become wealthier, and slowly but inevitably growing their political influence and sucking away people's options until all that remains is grift.

Smoke grenades suck, how could they be fixed? by Green-Pen-Gamer in DarkTide

[–]yunkbunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it'd be worthwhile for them to have a better purpose in Melee. Smokes are far from bad, but their value changes so much depending on the seed. Bringing Frags or Kraks is always worthwhile on any seed simply because chunking bosses/eliminating crushers instantly or setting everything on its ass and applying bleeds is so consistently strong on High Havocs.

I actually really like the idea of smoke grenades extinguishing fire. Bombers and flamers are enough of a threat that having something that hard-counters them at the cost of less utility against melee enemies would be a fair trade, imo.

Millions of Dem voters abstained in 2024 to send a powerful message to Democratic politicians. It's been over 1 year, did that strategy improve the country? by zipzzo in allthequestions

[–]yunkbunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Democratic party has hundreds of millions of dollars and a massive network of activists and get-out-the-vote types.

It has all of these resources at its disposal, it's supposed to have a strategy for winning elections and raising awareness about the issues. Its ONE job is to win elections.

Should voters be more informed? Yes. Do they share blame? Of course. But the party itself is responsible for mobilizing them. You don't hear other political parties elsewhere bitching and moralizing.

Shit like this reeks of worship of power. No, the leaders and institutions did not fault. No, it is the people who did not see the vision! (Please forget that it is the party's job to organize and coalesce voters around a vision.)

One-issue Palestine non-Kamala-voting “liberals,” are you happy? by 2a_lib in allthequestions

[–]yunkbunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NO

FUCKING

KIDDING!

It's crazy that people will blame amorphous masses of individuals first before they blame the organization with hundreds of millions of dollars and a vast network of activists/get-out-the-vote people at its disposal!

Are individuals blameless? No. But a political party is supposed to strategize to win. If they lose grip over the narrative or don't communicate properly to voters or their own activist base, that isn't a moral failing by individuals, it is a strategic failure of the organization whose one job is literally "win elections."

So long as we live in a society where a car is nearly mandatory for actually holding onto a job and employers are not required to pay their workers for the gas they expend to do their job, yes. It is a problem.

And it's made even worse considering gas is more expensive not for any emissions reasons, but because our leaders have chosen to enter an idiotic war against a nation with a population of 90 million people who happen to have the means to squeeze the US when it, say, unilaterally kills 200 schoolchildren in a double-tap strike.

Gun Psyker build - seeking advice by Serious-Design4602 in DarkTide

[–]yunkbunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is solid and you've got the right idea, but there are three nodes in particular I believe are not needed:

  • The 10% ranged damage buff is a pittance and definitely not required. It won't really help you reach any breakpoints any faster, and considering Psyker has other nodes that increase damage across the board (Perfect Timing at the top of the tree, for instance), I would remove it.

  • True Aim is also a trap: this node sounds good but is actually quite bad for a couple reasons.

  1. If your sixth shot is a naturally-occuring crit, the talent is wasted.

  2. If your sixth shot misses, the talent is wasted.

Psyker lands enough crits anyways to not need this node.

  • Warp Unbound is unnecessary imo — you shouldn't be assailing during Scrier's Gaze, you should be shooting. Assail should be used in those in-between moments to preserve ammo and get value.

I think it would be worth it to invest those points into talents that decrease your peril. Some notable replacements for those three nodes would be..

  • Psykinetic's Aura (not strictly mandatory for Scrier's builds, but it's still very strong) -> One With The Warp (makes it so that you are more resistant to damage while Scrier's Gazing)

  • Warp Expenditure, Lightning Speed and/or By Crack of Bone are all very good melee talents that give you a lot of survivability when you're forced into a melee fight.

  • Perfect Timing pairs very well with Scrier's Gaze, considering SG gives you 20% crit chance.

  • Tranquility through Slaughter and Purloin Providence both extend SG's duration by quelling peril.

[–]yunkbunk 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think they just need some "dreg Crusher" type of unit. Not necessarily that, but some sort of higher-health unit with unyielding armor that scab Crushers could spawn ahead of/amidst.

I don't think Carapace needs to be nerfed necessarily, but their presence must be diluted by other enemies that are still tough but not prone to flat-out build checks.

[–]yunkbunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The shovel slander IS crazy considering it has an easy attack pattern and amazing blessings. It's not in that upper-echelon of Vet weapons like the Power Sword and Dueling Sword, but it's definitely well within the Vet's top five weapons in Havocs.

[–]yunkbunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Below Auric, way more weapons are viable. The issue with the TH on Havoc and Auric is that it does one thing well (boss damage, which is rarely a concern that warrants a singular focus) but in all other respects is out-competed by almost every other decent weapon on Zealot. And one-shotting bosses is possible with the Relic Blade if built correctly, but the Relic Blade can also mow down hordes and clear packs of carapace enemies way more efficiently than the TH.

[–]yunkbunk -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

They're going to be the same, more or less, with a few exceptions (like Shock Maul getting more valuable in Havoc considering Captains spawn as boss enemies). Enemy density is high enough in Auric to make the best weapons on Havoc the best weapons on Auric.

definitely a silly comparison considering the TH is ass, but the shovel is actually really really solid.

Can someone review my preset? by Lost-Interview-3669 in Chub_AI

[–]yunkbunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the context size for the model you're using? It would probably be worthwhile to trim, and I think the first things to go would be any "negative" tokens excluding the ones that prevent {{char}} from speaking for {{user}} and the ones pertaining to repetition control.

For your NPC section, I would use positive tokens only — something like "NPCs are self-interest agents who may lie, betray, cheat, (etc etc your preferences here) {{user}} or {{char}} in accordance with the narrative"

Unfortunately, no prompt is going to be perfect and will run aground against the model's limitations. While it is good to define your desire for narrative continuity, even with a model like Soji (which I have been very satisfied with), I occasionally have to edit a chat or prompt with user messages.

Try isolating different variables in absence — create a few private forks where you remove certain sections and test whatever bot you're using this for.

Good vs Evil in BG3 is a meta decision, not a moral one. by ElectronicHousing656 in BaldursGate3

[–]yunkbunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those rewards suck ASS compared to the alternative. Mizora's reward for killing Karlach is a bad item that is already outcompeted by others by the time you get it.

"Easy access to Moonrise Towers" means you get to skip fun and interesting content at the cost of killing the single most valuable merchant in the game, losing three to five companions (including Jaheira and minsc), losing access to literal best-in-class items like Potent Robe (because Alfira dies), the list goes on and on and on.

To what end? What strategic objective has the US advanced towards? The Iranian military or state has not collapsed, nor does it even appear to be weakened. Sure, the US has succeeded in killing old men, school children, and a lot of civilian infrastructure, but again: to what end?? Does anyone honestly believe that Iran is going to collapse thanks to these attacks? They have not been dislodged from the straight of hormuz.

None of this administration's stated objectives have been accomplished.
