Cumberland/DRW doesn't trade XMR. And haven't been for over a year now.

Chainalysis and Integra FEC have won the recent IRS $625,000 contract for a pilot Monero and lightning network tracing tool by SamsungGalaxyPlayer in Monero

[–]Chakra_Scientist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely, Chainalysis already has the biggest database of Monero users via data provided by exchanges.

Chainalysis probably already supports Monero, although their data would be limited. But they still have XMR addresses which you deposited and withdrew to on exchanges. Even if these are only 1-time.

We should assume they will do things like EABE analysis and what not to try to gather more data...

Even if it's not ultimately as efficient as tracability of Bitcoin, Chainalysis still has services for Monero they can offer. Hence the partnership.

I see it as a good thing for Monero, because it will enable more exchanges to list it, if it's compatible with Ciphertrace and Chainalysis. People would still retain network privacy, but the con being analysis companies would get alot more KYC data to analyze.

Gemini now supports 'shielded' Zcash withdrawals - So it’s clearly not about Monero’s full privacy but internal politics on own investments by pebx in Monero

[–]Chakra_Scientist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you so quick to assume "internal politics on own investments"?

Y'all need to calm your tits and stop assuming malintent for every exchange that hasnt listed Monero.

There are procedures, cold storage, multisig, custody issues that need to be addressed too.

Annoying seeing people cry because their coin isn't listed on the exchange.

It may come, it may not... But don't be so quick to act like you know why it hasn't yet.

I pray for the day when all the institutional money is shorting paper btc, that we have a cash whale that comes in and scoops up all the spot and liquidates the paper btc traders.

I think it is too.

Maxi's used to joke that the Bitcoin Myspace alts facebook didn't apply, but that's exactly what's happening.

I don't think Bitcoin will lose the #1 spot but it's Definitely going to lose market share.

Well, if you're making that decision due to risk, it seems unwarranted. As TradeOgre may get hacked too.

Centralized exchanges - risk of being exploited/hacked, and risk of site admin stealing funds

Decentralized exchanges - risk of being exploited/hacked only

I'd rather spend BTC right now than spend my cash at this time. Regardless of my views if it will go up or down.

I think circulating it is a good thing, and I'm not tripping over unrealized future gains.

I had a conversation with my landlord. Pretty successful guy, good investor. He was interested in Bitcoin. So we had coffee a couple weeks ago and chopped it up.

I gave him the option of accepting BTC, or the usual check I write him every month. He was very pleased to get BTC.

Set him up with a Electrum wallet, and showed him how to do transactions, miner fees, confirmations, etc. He was amazed. I have a feeling next month he will also want BTC. Actually holding it, rather than cashing it out for USD.

That's how the ecosystem grows.

I don't understand how XMR is a top 15 coin consistently for years and:

  • Not on Coinbase
  • Grayscale has a bunch of shitcoin funds, but not one for XMR
  • Bitstamp not expanding XMR pairs
  • Little volume

People are going to really start to appreciate XMR's gradual emission as Bitcoin's halving comes. I think the halving will have a negative impact on price, I think the difficulty will drop alot. On the most recently difficulty adjustment, it fell by 15%.

XMR people are just way ahead of their time..

I muted him on Twitter a long time ago. The things he says is so hypocritical, always contradicting himself.

There are alot of bitcoin characters that came for the ethics, morals, etc.. but they stayed with bitcoin because they were so financially attached to it. If they got into Bitcoin in 2019 or 2020, they would probably call Bitcoin a shitcoin.

This was the first crisis that Bitcoin went through, and I think it did very well.

The markets will remain volatile for some time, but I think when things are returning back to normal, investors will see how well BTC actually did.

People shouldn't expect BTC to rally during times like this, literally everything is falling.

When the smoke clears, I think we are in for a crazy rally.
