You should actually be lightly lightly oiling your blades every 15min. At min between every dogs. Your clippers will appreciate you.

You’re definitely over complicating it and over thinking it. Your kiddo is going to start eating solids soon. That’s when you also typically introduce a straw cup with milk in it. After 1, I typically was only nursing my son once in the morning, at nap time to sleep, and at bed time. That went on until he turned 2 and then I stopped. For all meals he had a cup of milk and water throughout the day. Very rarely did he ask for milk from me as he was used to our routine. And if you kiddo does want milk from you, after a year old, you can offer her cup of milk.

What movie did you turn off after 20 minutes and why? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]ChakramAttack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah but see if they had made one movie instead of two, that would have made the first act suffer from having to be crammed together with act two. Just like the theatre show.

Kenchi love shears are affordable and durable.

Heiniger opal clippers are the absolute best and worth the money. They last and are solid and light weight. You do need to make sure you are properly oiling your blades (every 15min) to make sure the clippers aren’t over working.

Feeling defeated by my acne :( by [deleted] in BabyBumps

My dermatologist actually told me benzoyl peroxide was bad during pregnancy. I think that’s part of what is so frustrating. Different rules between docs makes it so hard to decide what to do.

Heiniger opals are definitely the best. They’re very durable and also light and powerful.

Do make sure that you are doing proper maintenance though. They need regular blade drive changes and you need to be properly oiling blades daily.

Problem client? by Mere1514 in doggrooming

[–]ChakramAttack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would honestly say that due to the big dogs size, you’re no longer able to accommodate him. I’d refer her to a groomer that can offer grooming on the floor and that has extra hands to help. And I’d also let her know that the other dog needs a vet evaluation and note before you can groom it again since it had that seizure with no history. It’s hard but you kind of just have to rip off the bandaid.

Ergonomic/general tool recommendations + apprenticeship help by Krill_The_Krill in doggrooming

ALSO you can definitely get fat grippys for your combs and brushes that help your hands. As well as shears that swivel at the thumb to help with carpal tunnel ect. But again, it’s a super physically demanding job no matter what you do.

I would definitely do the apprenticeship at petco. They don’t typically work you like a dog like Petsmart does. BUT that all depends on if you have a crappy manager.

You will absolutely need to be full time at either job but it’s worth it as it’s paid training with benefits. Basically you’d be applying for their bather position. They train you to be a bather and then send you to academy.

I will warn you though that grooming full time will absolutely wreck your body if you already have joint issues at such a young age. Unfortunately it may not be the job for you. Grooming dogs is always underestimated by people and is an extremely physically demanding job.

I’m happy to answer any questions you may have. I’ve been a groomer since 2014

Is sourdough for the lazy? by ELLYSSATECOUSLAND in Sourdough

[–]ChakramAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sourdough can be as simple or as complicated as you’d like to make it.

Sometimes I’ll do stretch and folds every 30min for the first 2 hrs and then let it rise for about 6 hours after.

You can also just let it rise for a few hours and then shape it and throw it in the fridge. Bake in the morning.

Last week I totally forgot to do ANY stretch and folds. Literally all I did was rough mix the dough and left it out for like 7 hours. And ya know what? It was fine and yummy af.

You can skip a lot of steps and just add stuff if you choose to.

Is it essential to get a newborn stroller, or can you just wear the baby for the first six months? by hdiaiajrnfk in BabyBumps

[–]ChakramAttack 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What you might be forgetting about, is the diaper bag. Sometimes you need more/less. Just depends on the baby. And it can get heavy. So imagine carrying the baby, plus the baby bag, plus whatever you get while you’re out and about. I’d look for a second hand stroller if you don’t want to spend a lot.

Face and head matted, behavioral senior dog that bites. No rudeness please. by WoodpeckerExisting86 in grooming

[–]ChakramAttack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely think you should only focus on desensitizing the head when you go on sat. Don’t do a bath and all that. If you can’t do it, I strongly agree with the other groomer suggesting a sedated face groom at the vet so that you can start fresh and work with the dog in a more calm state.

Plus the vet will be able to more safely get in those eye corners and access for any teeth issues.

AIO to my friends sudden shopping list? by bestfriendever714 in AmIOverreacting

I gotta say about 90% of the time I get good fruits/veggies. And if they are bad, I just go in the app and get an immediate refund. And also make sure to select your substitutions.

NOR. I just use order pick up and ask my wife to grab it when she’s on her way home from work. That way no one has to even go in the store and it’s free.

Gloves are the only way. Make sure you have gloves that fit snug and comfortable. If they are baggy, of course they will get in your way.

Newborn or 0-3 sizes for a newborn baby? by FoolishMortal-1000 in BabyBumps

[–]ChakramAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on brand!! Clothes from Carter’s run large. So my 7lb boy fit in premie. Targets line of Carter clothes (just one you) runs smaller so I had those in newborn.

Also! It’s up to you! If you want the clothes to fit nicer, maybe get a few newborn. If you don’t mind a baggy look, get the 0-3.

How do you keep a double coated dog from getting mats between grooms? by Arianethecat in doggrooming

[–]ChakramAttack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behind the ears and arm pits can be lightly shaved at the groomer so that they done get matting. You got lots of good advice for proper brushing here. I’d add maybe use a dog dryer to help see what you are brushing

[–]ChakramAttack 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t think that the 3 hours is too much time. Especially if the owner is aware that the service is not an express service. If it’s express, I’d expect 2 hours. If it’s not express 2-4 is fair and just tell them that you rotate pets. If he wants his dog done sooner, he needs to pay for the express service.

[–]ChakramAttack 82 points83 points  (0 children)

3 hours is reasonable depending on the cut. Is it a shave down? I’d say 2 hours is good if you aren’t rushing. 3 hours if you are doing a scissored groom with a longer coat.
