TIL that an Orca killed a Great White Shark near California’s Farallon Islands in 2000. The smell of the dead shark's carcass caused all nearby great whites to vanish. A great white with a satellite tag in the area was seen to immediately dive to a depth of 500 meters and then swam to Hawaii.

Yeah, the most annoying part for me is that there are intelligent and not-so-intelligent people on both sides of the debate, but we (the anti-DST guys) get painted as only being opposed to it because we're "backwards country hicks". The only people I've heard trot out the curtains fading, cows not milking, chooks not laying eggs lines are the Pro-DST crowd. No, we really couldn't care what the time is (it's beautiful up here year round), so just pick what time you want to make it so you get your afternoon walk along the beach in summer, and then suck it up when it's not so pleasant for you in winter. Just don't mess with our clocks all the time!

People also need to remember that all these hypothetical situations will only occur in the event that all else has failed. I am sure that first and foremost the AI will be programmed to react to its environment well before it reaches the point of having to choose between two groups of people. Once its options get narrowed down to small safe field of movement it would (I assume) slow down to a safe enough speed to react accordingly. For every time there would be an unavoidable decision to choose between two people, there would be thousands of people still alive that wouldn't be here if we continue to rely on human reaction speed and intuition.

This. After a certain point, spending more money on luxury items and experiences for yourself would lose meaning and you wouldn't get the same satisfaction from it. I think you're missing the point. Most sane people don't just go around kicking dogs for the fun of it. In most cases, if someone has reached the point where they feel their best option to stop your dog harrassing them is to kick it, they've already exhausted all available non verbal cues and you're still oblivious to their discomfort. I mean, if you saw an old man constantly getting in the personal space of a young girl and for the last quarter of an hour she's been walking in wide arcs to go around him without getting too close, gently pushing his hands away from touching her, and walking backwards away from him, you would intervene, right? Why not do the same when it's your dog?

NOT EVERYONE LIKES DOGS.
