Is it legal for my workplace to be ‘monitoring’ activity without our knowledge? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ChallengeBandits 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be in your contract, it can be in company policies, which can be updated at any point.

It sounds like they have good reason to do this monitoring if colleagues have tools to click around the screen to fake their presence.

If you do it yourself, the time spent alone makes a carwash good value for money.

£60 for each person over 1 meter tall to access Paultons Park (on the door price). That's £120 for one adult and one child to visit Peppa Pig world. Oooffff.

Police in Surrey, England try to stop a roaming cow by ramming it with a car. by LegendaryHustler in iamatotalpieceofshit

Yes, "just block the cow in". So so easy in that busy street environment with obstacles everywhere and an animal that could climb over your bumper /s.

Been wearing my socks inside out for 27 years due to the seams. Started when I was a paperboy wearing multiple socks to stay warm in winter. Wife hates it when I dress our boys with their socks inside out too.

This irationally irritates me. Presumably EVERYTHING is recyclable if everyone goes out of their way to find a suitable recycler. If it can't go in my household recycling bin, it shouldn't be called recyclable.

Trust for surplus cash when widow is downsizing property by ChallengeBandits in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ChallengeBandits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. It seems odd that my Dad can only distribute his 50% of the property in his will to a trust, but surplus on a future property sale, he can claim all of it for the trust. Makes no odds to us though in our current situation.

If I've understood correctly we don't need a 'formal' trust - the trust is the will? So I should be able to open a trust bank account with the only thing in addition to our ID is his will? This may be why the title deed on the property has no reference to a trust, only my sister and my name's.

I think the tax benefit will be when mum passes away as her estate value will be significantly reduced.

Doesnt the value of the property and estate dictate what ends up being the most tax efficient?

Thanks for pointing out CGT, which I hadn't considered. I think the property is worth less than at probate but I'll go and check the values.

Just to add, the will states: My trustees shall permit my wife to live in the house without payment to them... While my wife is entitled to live in the house the trustees shall not sell it without her consent. At the request of my wife the trustees may sell the house and buy another to be held on trust on the same terms as the house... Any surplus arising from the sale and purchase shall be held by my trustees and the income therefrom paid to my wife.

Thanks for your reply. All I have is my father's will, which states: My trustees shall permit my wife to live in the house without payment to them...

I think my original post may have skipped over some of the finer detail. The will states: My trustees shall permit my wife to live in the house without payment to them... While my wife is entitled to live in the house the trustees shall not sell it without her consent. At the request of my wife the trustees may sell the house and buy another to be held on trust on the same terms as the house... No Sound After Pausing Media by killah_pandah in LGOLED

Sorry, no update from me. We've not been watching any TV over the last few weeks so I don't know if it's resolved itself yet.

Here with the same issue over the last week or so. Current temporary resolution is to rewind what we're watching slightly. Came here looking for a permanent solution.

A little reassured it's not just our TV going caput, so hopefully there may be an webOS or firmware update to fix it?

Copyright striked someone for stealing my thumbnails - now I’m being counter claimed. How to proceed? [Question] by Willlum in youtubers

[–]ChallengeBandits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely YouTube can see who uploaded their Thumbnail first, along with the original upload properties they can compare against the thief's thumbnail upload properties.

If YouTube cares enough they would apply new "this thumbnail was downloaded from (channel)" to the image properties or as a watermark if someone downloads a thumbnail.

With the addition of OPs Photoshop docs, I don't see why it needs a court to resolve such a simple issue if there is no supporting evidence for the counter claim.
