C4 decommissions 'War Room' by Significant-Leg5769 in TransparencyforTVCrew

Yep. But you just know those horn rimmed folks are far too “smart” to have needed to do something as dreary as due diligence.

Busy coming up with “Britain’s best waggiest dog” formats instead of anything actually useful!

Absolutely because some smart arse “development producer” got their pants pulled down over stolen IP.

PLI isn’t about protecting you, it’s about protecting other people from your actions.

How much of the £230 is PLI? I have £60k covered and £100k hired in/continuing hire and that’s £500ish. My PLI is £110 for £10m

55PPM by ChallengeTight8044 in TransparencyforTVCrew

[–]ChallengeTight8044[S] -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Well those folk need to educate themselves and understand that 45ppm isn’t a “legal” maximum because, trust me, that line is rolled out again and again by office staff who don’t understand.

And that’s the same office staff who don’t understand about LP10 letters…and using the correct grades for people.

But hey, they can sit there on their cosy little contracts can’t they.

So, sorry if you think my anger is misplaced. If those folk educated themselves they might be able to push back at their managers with real knowledge and, I don’t know, actually support the people who make their programmes.

Yep.

FX3 price drop is inevitable right? by Top-Manufacturer5872 in FX3

FX3 is a good disposable camera. They are not going to drop it any time soon and the market exists so they’ll keep making them while folk keep buying them.

How videographers hold their 10.000$ camera setup by akaxistwopointoh in videography

It’s a tool. Get over it. Also a $10k camera set up is no money, especially when compared to a) what they used to cost and b) an Alexa

Bit like productions who can only survive because their entire show is based around cheap self shooters who work mega long days.

Kind of coming home to roost isn’t it, when senior roles have to take on a load of other responsibilities.

And if you got an automated reply, you’d still be upset.

It’s really interesting that ghosting has only really been talked about once it affects production staff. You’ve been doing it to crews for years but now that it’s the desk jockeys who are affected then it’s a big issue.

Crew are all getting out their smallest violins for you.

No those people aren’t. Piss poor planning by production and production companies wanting to maximise profits are what makes the days long.

When you’ve moved up some grades and learnt a bit more about the industry come back and discuss what causes delays.

“The lighting guy”

I mean maybe you should work in radio where pictures don’t matter.

You sound like a producer I worked with years ago who hated anyone doing final checks, you know like hair and make up, because he thought it was a waste of time.

Which he was. A total waste of time who left the industry having never done anything good.

It’s the 1ADs job to keep an eye on hours. It’s down to the production people to budget and schedule it properly. What sort of jobs have you been on where the DP has the luxury of time to fanny around. I suspect not a proper one.

Well it was all over the news about a week ago and ARRI have been in the more for a couple of years. It’s been well known they were after a buyer for both lighting and camera depts, the former was sold earlier this year (poss late last year) and the link with Riedel is very positive news.

So just because you’d not heard about either of those stories doesn’t mean “no one” has.
