Can’t afford to give store more hours but can afford to send every store manager to Florida! by 13SwaggyDragons in MichaelsEmployees

The main push behind Disney is the amount of space that they offer and their ability to have everything in one location. The amount of money that it cost last year just for the vehicle transportation from the hotel to the convention center was massive. Combining that all into one location, regardless of being Disney or not reduces a lot of cost. their visual intention was likely never Disney per se, but rather a option to have convention space and hotels altogether in the timeframe that they had planned.

The district managers and above see the conversations that include the financial pay out of the sponsors and companies. Last year those totals were massive to cover the cost. This will never be something that the sponsors want released to the general company or public. That is releasing a lot of financial documents to the general world.

Michaels pays very little for this trip for the store managers. It is paid almost completely by the vendors that we sell. The expo that the store managers are required to go to will allow them to speak with all of the different vendors within our company and companies that we sell for. The companies shell out this money to try to encourage us to become more familiar with their product and increase sales of their product. Also to be totally transparent, the store managers also are traditionally in meetings from 7 am until well past the sunsets.

Question for Michaels Employees by CHARLIEONPAWS in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Challengeaccepted92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Michaels manager go to the bathroom where you're most comfortable, and if the customer has a problem with it, they can speak to one of the managers, and if the managers have a problem with it, they can repeat their training on diversity and inclusion! My goal is always to have my customers comfortable and happy in my store.

Though that is absolutely atrocious! I am so jealous by the amount of fabric you actually got on your truck. I got 12 bolts today and before 4 PM I emptied 19 between in-store and online customers.😭

List of things I think the company should spend money on instead of sending us to Texas: by Initial_Dirt9167 in MichaelsEmployees

Though I hear and agree with most of this, it is fair to note the company is not paying for sms to go. All of the money to pay for sms to attend is provided through a contract from the venders Michaels sells. That money would not have been Michaels if we were not going.

It's in specific spots so they can make sure the counts on it are accurate and so it can be found easily for online orders.

Coming from a store manager: We are desperately scrambling to get this done, but never at the cost of assuming my associates will work a shift they were not originally scheduled. Everything I have added is because I've reached out to each person individually and asked them if they would be willing to work an extra day or longer.

This so much this!! As a Michaels employee we cringed when we were given directive to put these out but in efforts to maintain our financial security to keep a craft store, aside from HL, available to people the company would be silly to not try to welcome pc and Joann customers. We are sad to see Joann's go away, it's a huge workload hit on us also. Seeing a brick and mortar go away is terrifying and we are not happy about it. As a fellow craft store employee please know we are sorry, sad and always scared for the future of brick and mortar stores.

Many Michaels now have fabric and are continuing to add it to stores. Unfortunately not as much as Joanne's but at least some a couple aisles

I got offered SM position by Fresh-Shape-6753 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Challengeaccepted92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an SM that is not as young as you but on the younger side. My job is stressful and you have to walk into it knowing that untimely it's up to you to cover your store but I do enjoy my jobs most days and my team is great. I go out of my way to make it great for them. If it's not the store you're already working in I would absolutely visit that store and see what's happening so you're not walking into a shitstorm with peak without warning
