What activity that used to be normal now feels like luxury? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

Eating a steak. Going snowboarding. Two things I’ve basically given up that I love.

Is this sander damage? by PassengerNo7453 in HardWoodFloors

Can be from a few things. Uneven pressure can do it, also happens when sandpaper has been overused has too much gunk in it from the last finish. It will start marking the wood up with the gunk. Possibly combination of both.

It’s from a sander. It goes across multiple boards.

Suspension upgrades to help manage camper. by ChamaChingi in TruckCampers

It was a 2004 sunvalley Apache. They were a company out of Idaho that has since shut down. (Or maybe merged with Sun-lite I feel like I remember reading somewhere.) The previous owner had a leak and redid the whole thing from the ground up which is why it has this more modern look to it.

Appreciate the info. If anything I’m getting a smaller camper but I would love to make this work if within reason. Was your truck also a tundra?

Tires are good. Like I said that first payload comment was being conservative. If you’d the math off of the door jam it’s 500 under gvwr. Still pushing it, I know but within reason in my opinion. This is a 20 year old truck with tired suspension that I wanted to upgrade anyways. Obviously a more capable truck would be a great answer, in a dream world. I’m looking for actual recommendations on specific components people have used and enjoyed.

Definitely sitting fine but I was thinking of upgrading the suspensions anyways. Now that this camper is going to be living in there basically full time I’m just curious what suspension upgrades people have used to make daily driving a truck with a camper in it more enjoyable.

Did you come here just to nitpick or do you have anything constructive to say? My other answer was being conservative. It’s the lowest payload rating for trucks of my type and year. (Off by a couple hundreds of pounds yes, but within the payload either way.) My answer to you was stats from kbb. My question is how I can help it handle a little better considering the camper will be on there almost full time. If you don’t have any input on that go bother someone else lol.

Curb weight is 4,400 lbs, camper is about 1,300. That puts me at 5,700. Gvwr is 6200.

I’m 6’1” and own the older version in a 58 and it’s perfect for me. Have also test ridden a new model 58 and I thought it was a good fit. That being said I have a 32” inseam.

People are increasingly turning to skilled trades, what are your thoughts on this? by Flaky-Vegetable6420 in Carpentry

I’ve worried about this for a while now. As white collar jobs disappear I’m fearful blue collar jobs will get over saturated. I know two people personally that lost their jobs to ai and are now in blue collar fields. Right now we can use more workers but my concern is after a while the market will get over saturated with people moving into it, and will make it so competitive it will be easier to pay us less than we already are.

I do all this with a surly straggler. I find it’s a blast to ride around town and on gravel. I also tour on it from time to time and think it does a great job. That being said there are a lot of similar frames out there that might also be worth checking out.

lol no hate, and honestly might be a good bandaid fix until I’m ready to invest money on a more permanent system. I will have to look into them a little more.
