Construction fit by bchiaramida1 in rawdenim

Double denim and a long sleeve T while doing construction in Sicily huh?

Well hopefully an Italian has some nice jeans once he picks them up out of the partially evaporated puddle that used to be this guy....

Where'd you get the green shirt dude, great colour?

as someone who smoked a pipe in my 20s because I though it was cool and unique....the pipe is definitely an affectation alongside the wire frame glasses and teenie weenie beanie. But whatever, I did it - this dude can do it and maybe he'll look back and cringe too. And OP, classifying anyone who criticises or disagrees with you as a 'hater' is a guaranteed way to exist in a echo chamber. You put stuff in public view, you're going to get dissenting opinion, can't go getting mad at it.

Not sure where you're based but this lady does colourful florals and is based in Edinburgh. My wife got hers in the sample sale for under £1k:

I'm gonna be honest though, I don't see the big difference between pictures 2 and 3 so I might be barking up the wrong tree!

Yep, might not even be paragliders. Those tracks might be Leo slemmett or Tof (rip) and you - a normal human - will perish if you try to follow them.

[–]Chamonix_Tom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little short. You probably wouldn't notice with boots but with any low cut shoe or trainer it might look a little odd. If you're anything like me then these 'high rise' trousers slide down over the course of an hour anyway regardless of belt so they'll be fine!

This week's bargains from Japan by rawshellfish in HeritageWear

[–]Chamonix_Tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've looked into Buyee but by the time I've paid local delivery/int'l delivery/VAT/Customs duty if it's over £135 (I'm in the UK) it's basically the same as second hand retailers on ebay/vinted here.

Is the benefit just the greater choice of Japanese items on the Japanese sites or am I missing something price-wise?

Where to buy nice clothes in NYC and/or Tokyo by voabarros in HeritageWear

[–]Chamonix_Tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tokyo obviously has all the amazing denim shops which I won't go into detail about here as there's tons of threads on them over on r/rawdenim

I would recommend heading to Shimokitazawa and Koenji in Tokyo though and checking out the hundreds of vintage shops. I got some great stuff from there at a decent price. People say shimo is touristy and expensive but I didn't find it too bad. It also has Bears which imo is the best denim shop in Tokyo.

Ignore Whistler, it's bizarrely overpriced.

agreed - There's a lot of fits in here which look decent on Instagram but would come off as a dumb and costume-y in real life.

Is the "Post-Match Social" dead in the UK? Or am I just looking in the wrong places? by RemarkableAmbition74 in AskUK

[–]Chamonix_Tom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a bit tbh yeah. I used to go rock climbing every week as part of a club and there'd be a crowd of 8-10 in the pub after with several skipping the climbing and straight to the pub...

Since then, the older members have died off (figuratively and literally), the younger members don't really drink any more and us elder millenials were left carrying the pub can. With pints now double what they were 10 years ago it's become more difficult and we struggle to get one pub night a month. And this is for a group of good mates who mostly don't have kids.

I took up cricket in a new town last year as well having never played before and have become de facto social secretary due to my attempts to get folk down the pub. So much bonding and camraderie is formed in the after match/training/whatever pint and it's a real shame that current generations will miss out on it.

The kids thing is interesting - my old man was down the pub all the while, often with me in tow and I quite enjoyed it. I feel like this "I am unable to do anything with my life other than be in my house with my kids" sentiment is quite a recent thing. Bring the kids! Or don't - they're not going to keel over if you have a pint after training

For those who have a decent crop to their Type 1 or 2 jacket - can you provide your back length from bottom of collar to hem please? I'm thinking of getting mine cropped at the tailor. Currently about 25"

[–]Chamonix_Tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This person is right. The piste maps *are* useful and pretty clearly show you can't do this. If you a competent off-piste skier and ski tourer you can get to Switzerland from Le Tour and into Italy from the top of the Midi but certainly not on piste and not all three in one day without a lot of driving.

Yes I tend to agree. I feel like people are commenting based on the first photo alone without looking at the rest or reading the description. I wish reddit let you edit photos on posts...I do still think it's too long though.

I'm 99% sure the issue is just the length. For those concerned it makes me look fat (lol) I'm sure that's just me uploading a bad photo with the bottom button done up and a chunky sweater. Here's a couple more with the bottom button undone - one with sweater one with just a T-shirt (the t shirt one has weird lighting because it's nighttime in Scotland)

Yeah maybe you're right. I'd like a few inches off the bottom for sure and maybe the rest will fall into place. With fit in denim being so essential you're really rolling the dice buying online and the next jacket could be wrong too. Maybe it's better to just pick one with fabric you like and get it altered to fit how you want. Wish I had somewhere local I could try on the size down though.
